If this is a more polished Scarlet Grace-like, this will probably be the JRPG with the best turn system combat ever. Scarlet Grace was already miles ahead of the competition in that regard, every combat was actually a puzzle.
Finally, a New game after all these year! 😆 And god, Jilbab girl caught my guard 😂 it's the first time I see Jilbab girl as main characters in big title game, and I love it.
Representation or not, I always love when game use other culture outside medieval English/western or Japan/china. It make it really fresh
This was one of the highlights of the entire Direct, for me at least.
Its a shame we won't me seeing much of Tomomi Kobayashi's gorgeous art, but these new artists are really great too and capture her style well. I'm so excited for this.
:(((( her art is so good, I'm glad they kept her whimsical character design.
@@Serverleech...? No she doesn't? What are you on?
@@Serverleech The artist's name is Satoshi Kuramochi. Let's give credit where it's due, and try not to defame excellent artists who are already obscure enough.
I'm so hyped for this. I'm been really enjoying the SaGa remasters on the Switch. They're really unique, and do a lot of things that modern games just don't anymore. So it will be awesome to see what a new game in the series will play like.
Scarlet Grace was also new
What's new?
Yeah, Kawazu pretty much does his own thing and pushes the boundaries of game development
@His0ka
Didn’t Scarlet Grace come out on the Vita like a handful of years before the Switch release though ?
@@thehevandragon Yeag, it was a Vita game first. I believe they re-released it on modern systems later on with extra content added.
A new SaGa game?! My body is ready!!!! My favorite in the series is SaGa Frontier, as I've always adored the variety of interconnected worlds and playstyles. This looks like it could include everything I love about that game in a more finished/polished game. I've been hoping for something like this since the 90s. ❤
Just for the OST alone, I'll get this game.🙂
Kenji Ito is da man!
@@AnaverdGaiden So cool, that he's still with the series!👍
@@kochankopokopu2868 Agreed, it's crazy how Ito and Kawazu have always stuck with it. Long after Sagaguchi and Uematsu abandoned the FF series, SaGa is still kicking!
yeah sounds amazing
Very excited! Also hope they remaster/remake SaGa Frontier 2!
It was listed on Play Asia at some point so it will definitely happen! All we're missing is Frontier 2 and Unlimited. Maybe if we're exceptionally lucky we'll someday get English releases of the DS remakes of SaGa 1 thru 3.
It seems very likely. Around a year or so ago Kawazu said that a "new SaGa game, a SaGa remaster, and a SaGa remake are all in development". The remaster was Minstrel Song, the new game is Emerald Beyond, and the remake is probably SaGa Frontier 2. They were doing the remasters all in order of release, and they skipped from SaGa Frontier to Minstrel Song, which is another big sign.
@@SomniaCEthey can keep Unlimited
@@AnaverdGaidenThey can't remake SaGa Frontier 2, those graphics are timeless. Hopefully they remaster it and remake/overhaul Unlimited SaGa.
@@moisescorral8297 True, SaGa Frontier 2 looks amazing. However, it's the number one game in the series that desperately needs a remake do to all of its gameplay issues. It could be a masterpiece if they just fixed it up, rather than being a game where everything is godly but the gameplay.
RPG fans keep winning!
THEY KEEPING THE SCARLET GRACE COMBAT LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
We eating good next year!!
Hell Yeahhhh
What does that mean? What is that?
yesssss
@@Keychan64 Scarlet Grace is the latest installment in the SaGa series
I see you in there Brusque Slice!
My ears definitely hear Kenji Ito back again, too. Criminally underrated composer. Best announcement of the Direct for me.
I didn’t care about much else in the direct, but Emerald Beyond alone made it amazing for me I love this series
This will be one of tbe most elaborate and mechanically rich JRPGs of the decade, guaranteed.
That character design is crazy! And I love it
Scarlet grace was real good. It had some problems but man, after a certain point I found it immensely enjoyable. This looks a lot like that style of game, and the characters just look so fun. Im sold on the vampire lord and the crimefighter girls.
Sweet, a new SaGa title! And it looks like we'll finally have nonhuman allies again. Scarlet Grace was only a slight bummer in that the cast was entirely human (just like Frontier 2), so it's nice to see them bring the other race types back.
Yeah, it's fun when Kawazu just goes off the wall and makes a million random party members
@@AnaverdGaiden It also makes every single one of them memorable.
@@LeonardoBramante Agreed, like the iconic Engineer Car xD
Same, I'm hyped
@@AnaverdGaiden Can't ever forget Boston the giant lobster, who wants to see the world. XD
I've been waiting on new SaGa since Scarlet Grace and this looks to be that and then some.
Seriously, if you haven't played SaGa Scarlet Grace, that's easily the best turn based RPG that's released in the last decade.
The char line up in this is mad lol I love it
This looks amazing. SaGa needs more love. Hopefully we will get a Romancing SaGa 4
Are Bonnie and Formina... roommates?
They are two new police recruits.
@@slickperspective2745 That's what we call "not mutually exclusive".
Probably the best thing out of the direct. I like the duo… something fresh in the series.
Good stuff square soft
Yeah, the direct sucked other than this and Unicorn Overlord
@AnaverdGaiden
Nah, it was pretty mid. This game was one of the more interesting parts but not a showstopper.
@@AnaverdGaidenwhat about Eiyuden Chronicle? 😢
@@crowquet56 Oh, Eiyuden Chronicles is awesome, I was only talking about new announcements. I backed the kickstarter for Eiyuden years ago, so seeing it in the direct wasn't a surprise. Plus I think I kind of forgot it was in the direct since I looked away when it showed up to avoid spoilers, lol
@@thehevandragon The thing is, the SaGa series hasn't had a new game since 2016, and before that it was 2002 (besides the 2005 remake of RS1). That makes it a showstopper in my eyes, it'd be like finally seeing a new Ace Attorney game after years of absence.
Fomina's design must be a first for a jrpg. I like it.
I've never played a SaGa game before. But wow, this looks intriguing!
Do give the previous entries a spin.
You should really give the other SaGa games a try, make sure to use a guide though. Romancing SaGa 3 is a great starting point imo, Romancing SaGa 2 is my favorite cause of how complex it is.
They're definitely not for everyone though
Good game though but not for someone who wants to maxed out everything.
Day 1! Scarlet Grace: Ambitions was so good.
Feels like a remix of Frontier 1 and Scarlet Grace. I'll be there.
SaGa chads we move, I'm curious about the character interactions, which characters are y'all thinking of playing first? I was thinking the Witch or the King of Darkness
I'm thinking about the Puppetmaster or the King of Darkness
I’m either going for the witch or the buddy cops
I got so much from Scarlet Grace, but this game could be a straight upgrade! Bless Kawazu.
Any other RPG in 2024 is fighting a losing battle against this game, if this will be Scarlet Grace 2.0 but with a Frontier style setting and not limited by zero budget it's going to viciously mop the competition.
I agree with everything, except that it will be popular outside of Japan. Just have to hope.
Hopefully there's more funding for the promotion of this game. Plenty of W,J, and TTRPG fans would love this series if they just looked into it.
YES x 500
This is what I've been waiting for !
Scarlet Grace on acid. Thank you Kawazu, despite the meager budget SE must be giving.
I'm so mad at Square Enix. They pump so much money into literal garbage like Forspoken and the modern FF games, and then they give Kawazu literally nothing to work with. The management at Square Enix is literally a bunch of greedy grandpas that know nothing about video games and only chase trends for $$$.
They're letting the dude keep making some of the best remasters in the JRPG genre at least
@@Scytherman That's true. It's funny how Kawazu made arguably the best remaster of all time with SaGa Frontier, but with Square Enix's cash cow series they made the Pixel Remasters absolute crap.
I'm hoping the SaGa Frontier II Remake looks good!
@@Scythermanthats because hes an old employee. And age in a company matters especially in Japan.
@@AnaverdGaideni want Unlimited Saga as well quite a lot.
Looks like they're expanding on the Scarlet Grace system which a lot of fans were hoping for (including myself)! Can't wait for 2024!
I hope this game grabs my attention, this one definitely looks more interesting than scarlet grace imo
@@crowquet56 The game def has its faults. It can admittedly feel repetitive because of the limited enemy variety, which is my personal gripe with the game.
SaGa Scarlet Grace was awesome, so this will hopefully be amazing.
About time we get a new saga game!!!
The fact that they showed midare setsugekka in the trailer means this is gonna be gooood.
Coming back to this trailer, and just realized one of the playable characters is a giant house cat. 11/10 game. 0 notes.
One of the highlights of the direct
It looks fantastic im exited for it!!!
This looks 300000% my style!
0:35 GAVIS BETTEL
It's so awesome that we're getting a new SaGa game.
I just want everyone talking again😢
It's why I praise Romancing Saga so much.
This is gonna be GOTY 2024 for me.
Step aside, Persona 3 Reload.
Yes! Turn based is not dead. I will definitely be getting this.
Wish they would bring back Hamauzu for the OST one of these games but overall looks cool.
This game looks so cool
This game looks interesting
Body = ready.
Let's go!!!!!
can't wait to play this on steam :3
I was hoping for more of a return to the styles of SaGa Frontier. I'm not as big a fan of the board game style. Music sounds fantastic though
The board game style has been a staple since the PS2 era which, as a reminder, was over 20 years ago.
Same, but I'll still play it
@@ixis To be fair, that started with Unlimited SaGa, which is a game so bad that it faced massive returns to stores right after coming out and Kawazu issues a public apology for it.
A hijabi hero?? damn she looks good.
this better come to steam and pc.
The OST i need it now ❤❤❤
PTSD from graces combat is coming back. But hey the only good thing from the direct today.
Its sooo good
Yeah, this and Unicorn Overlord. Too many damn Mario games
@@AnaverdGaiden I'm interested in that unicorn overlord game but I need to see more
@@UndeadEggmiester I feel like it should be pretty good since Vanillaware is known for making high quality games. It's cool that they're branching out to a new genre, too
I love this series!!!!
Literallt the only thing i would ever care about a direct for
Gawd I love how Nintendo keeps making these old-school trailers like it's still the 80s or 90s
Wonder if this'll be the 1st saga game i actully finish
I can’t stop watching this I’m so excited
it looks like its returning to the romancing saga era gameplay
SaGa games are always welcome.
It says its released but i cant find it anywhere
I have they remaster Saga Frontier 2. I'm looking forward to this but I would also throw money at SF2
Awesome SaGa Emerald Beyond Video.
NEW SAGA BAYBEE
I'm skeptical about this one but I'll give it a shot since I love RPG games (Same thing happened to me with the Cold Steel series) I ended up loving all 4 games + Trails Into Reverie
This series is very special. You need to really dive in and give it a real chance, as well as be ok with non-classic/original jrpg to enjoy it.
It usually has a harder difficulty and a lot less linearity. Scarlet Grace had amazing battles and very cool world. This one seems to go so far beyond (lol) which feels to me it will be an absolute killer game. But yeah, most people wouldn't have the patience or something to get into this series. I'd say it's easier for the legend of heroes since they're extremely safe kid friendly games with basic rpg party and linear story.
@@Daremodesu"extremely safe kid friendly" Sky the 3rd and Kuro no Kiseki would like a word with you
We're so back
love it❤
Everyone else hype for the Paper Mario remaster (rightfully so) while I'm losing my mind over another entry in my beloved ugly jank franchise. God bless you, Kawazu and team.
Alright can't wait to play Muzan from Demon Slayer 😁
Me rn: OMG A SAGA GAME IWDHJEISUS
Me when I play the game: UGHHHHHH it’s too complex I’m done
That is how I felt with SaGa Frontier. Even though it is somewhat simple, I feel overwhelmed for some reason. Maybe because I feel like I have to choose the right options for learning skills, getting rare equipment, gaining stats that a character needs and absorbing monsters correctly, or not absorbing. The main problem is that I will clfear coming back and making a mistake. Scarlet Grace did not have that problem, but I do miss the more traditional stat gains.
Finally a SaGa game with budget behind it xD
Hype is real.
let's goooooooo!!!!
Real gaming is back
These games are fun and I like the art. But having to redo battles over and over again was tiring.
scarlet 2?
Never been a fan of the series but this one looks interesting.
ANOTHER SAGA?!??!?!?! LETS GOOOOOO
It is time! LFG
This is totally gonna get bought at on a sale so can't wait to play this a year from now
"some weirdo yelled at me"
Wtf...
they Americanized the game.
Ooooh
These designs are very Anime
always wanted to try this series.. heard that it's challenging and has some cool mechanics but something about the art style and the godawful ui design really puts me off.
the ui does look a lot cleaner in this one at least
they have a free mobile game that is a pretty good entry into the series. Saga Re Universe.
What I'd recommend doing is try out Romancing SaGa 3. The original SNES version looks incredible and has a fan translation (or you could play the recent remaster that has different backgrounds), and it's the easiest SaGa game.
I do agree, this and the last SaGa game suffered from really cheap budgets, unfortunately. I'd say try out Romancing SaGa 3, then the SaGa Frontier remaster, and then maybe Romancing SaGa 2 (which also has a modern remaster) and by that point you'll be comfortable with the series and its mechanics.
@@sean8955 Loving the Fuse PFP!
@@AnaverdGaiden was literally looking up RS3 last night as it's on sale on switch for a fiver.. didn't jump on and get it as i'm playing through octopath traveller 2 at the mo.
but thanks a lot for the reccomendation!! i should probs pick it up before it goes off sale then
@@MokuTom No problem! I'd recommend picking that up and SaGa Frontier as well, if that's on sale. Those are the two you'd probably enjoy the most. Romancing SaGa 2 is also great in a lot of ways, but the gameplay is just so brutally difficult that it kind of ruins the game.
I hope you're enjoying Octopath Traveler II! Which protagonist did you choose?
Interesting
nice
the cel shading is so off its like they added a celshaded filter over it
I'm not a Hijabi but I love the representtion
Love me some turned based stuff
Not a fan of the artstyle and animation, but if it's from the SaGa serie, should be promising.
Saga Frontier Remake when?
They literally just remastered it a few years ago. SaGa Frontier is the last game that needs a remake, the remaster is an almost perfect representation of it.
Please no Level scaling enemies
this game looks so 😦
who are artist/art director of this game ?
The character designer is Satoshi Kuramochi, who also worked on Scarlet Grace.
thank you @@LightKeyDarkBlade
So hyped!!!!! Give the game nooooooow 👀
WE HAVE GUNS NOW
Most SaGa games have guns, lol. They're in SaGa 1 - 3 and SaGa Frontier
I feel like it was in Unlimited, but maybe not.
This looks insanely low budget. Not holding my breath on this one.
350,00 nesse lix0?
Masashi Hamauzu as the composer?
I think it's Kenji Ito
It's Kenji Ito. Hamauzu only composed for SaGa Frontier 2 and Unlimited Saga in the SaGa series.
Formina looks cool
i will literally never play this!!!
real!
Man, I am so conflicted on this game. On the one had, I'm so happy to see a new SaGa game after all these years. On the other hand, it's obvious Square Enix only gave Kawazu a $2 budget, and the art style and story presentation are pretty bad looking. I don't get why Square gives hot garbage modern FF games millions of dollar budgets, but can't give SaGa a budget. Considering what he had to work with, it probably would have been better of Kawazu went the HD2D route instead so that the game could look better.
SaGa doesn't really sell as well. While it's nice that the series has seen a humongous uptick in recognition and popularity, especially with big pushes of remasters and Re;univerSe, it doesn't quite have the staying power and brand recognition other IPs like FF have built over the years. Keep in mind that even in JP, SaGa has always been kind of the quirky black sheep of SE's library that rarely is given the time or budget needed (just look at Frontier), moreso after Unlimited unironically greatly tarnished the series' reputation to a point the franchise stagnated for almost 15 straight years before they even tried again with a new title. SaGa has some serious catching up to do if it wants that kind of recognition and staying power.
@@FrogofWarRS They could have given him more budget than this, though. There's literally mobile games coming out these days with higher budgets. Plus, isn't Re;Universe one of the highest grossing app games or something? They could have funneled some of that money into the mainline games.
I feel like Frontier did the best with what it had, though. If this game just had a better art style and didn't tell the story through a mobile game style then I'd have no issues with it.
Yeah, I really don't get what Kawazu was thinking with Unlimited SaGa. A terrible artist, bad gameplay, and a lame structure all at once? It's like he just lost his touch for one game
@@FrogofWarRS every time a SaGa remaster had been released there were reports about it succeeding SEs expectations + their gacha is the second highest grossing mobile game and made 10 million USD last month alone
@karamarakamarama doesn't sell AS well as FF was my point. Expectations are one thing but unless those sales (for the remasters specifically) are just utterly knocking it out of the park with billions of dollars like FF does, Square isn't going to give SaGa the same time of day as they give FF
@AnaverdGaiden I don't disagree with that sentiment at all. A higher budget SaGa game would be an absolute banger, but I think for as experimental and niche as SaGa can get, I think Square might be afraid of accidentally putting all of SaGa's eggs into what might be the next Unlimited.
