  • In this video, I have a complete guide on how to fix a Stihl BR600 backpack blower than is running out of fuel with a half tank of fuel left over. In this video I show exactly how to take the covers off the blower and remove the necessary components including the carburetor and air cleaner box to get the gas tank out. Then I take the original single fuel filter and install new dual fuel filters and solve the problem. This isn't regular fuel line maintenance, but an actual fix for this problem.
    Some of the parts you may need include;
    Fuel Filter with Dual Ports;

    Fuel Filter with Single Port;

    3/16 I.D. Fuel Line

    I've had this problem with my eighteen year old BR550 blower for years. I tried everything to keep it running including leaning to my left to keep the fuel filter below the fuel level!
    Looking into the tank I could see the fuel filter very close to the neck and 'floating'. I ordered the filters and fuel line you recommend and disassembled the blower as you described. When I pulled the fuel intake line from the tank it was not like the one you removed; it was just a normal size fuel line and fairly long. I decided to relocate the filter to the other side of the fuel tank and noted that the filter lay flat on the tank floor. I put it all back together, put about 1/4-1/2 inch of fuel into the tank, and the blower started and ran well. I'm hanging onto the parts I ordered in case they are needed in the future.
    Thanks for the very informative video!

    Nice video I really appreciate that you specify which screws go where lol. These stupid things have so many different-but-similar screws ;l
    And even with the exact measurements for the fuel lines. Gotta love it. Top tier

      Why did you replace the coil? Did you determine there was no spark? IF so, is there spark now with the new coil?

    I changed the fuel filter and primer bulb still goes dead at 1/2 tank

      Did you change the fuel lines in the bottom of the tank to the dual filter setup? I don't think the primer bulb would cause it to cut off early. It sounds like a fuel line problem in the tank.

    I have a Stihl Br 600 that shuts off at idle only. As long as I stay on the gass it runs fine. Changed air and fuel filter but still having the same issue.

      I don't remember if that has any screw adjustments on the carburetor... Could be that one of those needs adjusting. Is the fuel ok? How about the spark plug? There are a few things that could cause trouble.

      @@JLPicard440 I put some different fuel in it with no change. The sparkplug doesn't look bad but I'm going to get one today just to make sure. If that don't work I might have to just order a carburetor.

    Seems like a lot of problems if the blower is under warranty

      If it's under warranty, I'd take it back and let the repair center fix it. The one in the video is several years old..
