    I visited Corpus in 2011, and saw all the sights associated with Selena - even met Abraham, Suzette, and Bill, Suzette's husband. When I visited the Selena Museum, Bill - who works there with Suzette - gave me a tour of the studio where Selena recorded so much of her music, and I felt an energy in that room like you wouldn't believe. It was kind of comforting, almost like some part of her had remained there in a place that meant so much to her.DEFINATELY not my imagination.I've never felt anything like it, before or since.

    I wasnt even alive then but I'm a huge Selena fan. A lot of people think that only Texans and Latinos that were alive in 1995 listen to her but I'm 14, white and I dont live anywhere near Texas but I'm still a fan of her. She was an amazing person and deserves to be remmebered for a long time

    Knowing Selena as well as you did, I can't even begin to imagine how you felt when you heard she had been murdered. It was such a senseless, cowardly act, and it makes me sad and angry at the same time when I think about it. I live in New York State, and I first heard one of her songs - "I Could Fall In Love" - in the Summer of '95. I remember thinking that I'd never heard anything so beautiful. I didn't really know anything about her at that time, but then, in '97 - on All Souls Day, which seems appropriate - I saw "Selena" for the first of many, MANY times, and I literally became a huge fan then and there, and I have been ever since. For the longest time, I couldn't listen to her music, or watch the end of "Selena", without tearing up thinking about what was done to her, and I never even met her, but I do know that she was an angel among us, if only for all too short a time. Legends never truly die, however, and the beauty, positivity and inspiration she brought to the world will remain with us forever. As humble as she was, I know she's looking down from Heaven saying "All that fuss for ME"? Yes, sweet Angel of Music, all that fuss for YOU. You deserve it ALL, and THEN some. ❤👍👍❤

    I was living in Dallas at that time. I watched it live on tv. It was unbelievable.
    I will always remember all the times I saw her live. Pecos, Fort Stockton, Midland, Odessa, San Angelo, Fort Worth, Dallas, San Antonio, and getting onstage and singing Como La Flor with her in Monahans. When I was done, Pete Astudillo gave me a head nod like “good job.” Great times.... RIP Selena.

    Freshman year of highschool at Highlands. I was 14 1/2. My coach had the radio playing with the door halfway open. I heard them talking about it, but I wasn't focused. My homeboy Julio was the only other person in the lockeroom and he told me. I didn't believe him though so I kept it moving. Got home after school and watched TV and it literally was EVERYWHERE!! I just went numb and just didn't know how to understand it all. Straight Sadness😔43♎ now. Her spirit has been getting at me these last 6wks. ALL in my feels🥹

    I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was at work here in Corpus and a coworker of mine said that she heard on the radio that Selena was shot. I think we were listening to KSAB back then. I know that is the name of the station now but can’t remember if that is what it was called back then. It was so crazy. It was like the world stood still. I remember driving home after work and the weather was ugly. 😢

      The entire atmosphere went dark & melancholy when she died then it started raining hard out of no where! I remember the next day it was sunny & people everywhere were blasting her music & had her name written all over their cars. Her Boutiques & motel where she was killed instantly became memorial shrines. She became a legend over night. The entire situation was just so strange. She was always out of this world something about her was just special. She’ll never be forgotten

    I heard the news on 1010 WINS in NYC they have a breaking news theme that comes on. They said a Mexican-American singer was shot in Texas.. I had no idea and I called my dad asking him who’s she. My dad was distraught he said she always was performing in the show “Siempre Domingo” he saw that show like a religion. I remember him telling me he sees Selena like a daughter cause I’m 2 years younger than Sel.. this is when I found out who she was! RIP Selena 🌹🌹

      I was 30 yrs old and my son was 7 months. I get in from work with my baby, get situated and turn the tv on. There it was, the tragedy being played out on tv with YS holding a gun to her head and all these police squads surrounding the vehicle. Til this day I will never understand why she would take a precious life like La REINA away from her loved ones and the many fans who adored her. 😢

    Hey Rock n Roll James!! I have a question or two: On your last interview with Selena at the "Stay in School Jamboree", did you notice that she wasn't herself, as she is usually lively and laughing every time you interview her but that day she seemed like she had something else in her mind. Did you ask or did she say anything that was happening behind the scenes?

    • @chilixi
      @chilixi 5 років тому +9

      I think we can fairly assume that it was a combo of everything going on, all her work, performances, boutiques, the cross over album, the Yolanda situation not enough rest etc.

    • @saiyongdawn7756
      @saiyongdawn7756 5 років тому +5

      @@chilixi Yep I'm sure but most of it could've been the YS situation. Reading Chris's book gives much clarity.

      Her husband’s book he revealed she was under a lot of pressure the final months of her life. She was spreading herself too thin he said. She was trying to do the Boutique businesses maintaining 2 in Texas and she had plans to open one in Mexico, she was looking into manufacturers in Mexico and designers she wanted to collaborate with. Then she was recording the English album, she even started recording for new Spanish album, acting roles were being offered to her, she was on tour and her label was already planning the cross over tour to go over seas to places like Japan & Europe! Besides her career she was trying to find the time to just live a normal life with her husband. She was building her dream home on farm land she bought. Construction was starting and she was dealing with that responsibility as well.. Just a lot of changes was happening. Then to have to deal with Yolanda’s bs not only her theft but the constant elaborate stories to get attention. A lot of run arounds she was doing to manipulate everyone and Selena just did not have the time for it literally. Selena was burnt out and tiered the final months of her life. Her husband said after the English cross over tour in late 1995 to early 1996 she was going to take a break from the spotlight. She just wanted to be home for a while & hit pause in her career. She wanted to start a family which would have happened around maybe 1997 or 1998 he assumes if things went according to their plan... but that woman ended her life short.
