@@themaestrostyle I don't think so. I believe what hurt him in that moment is the realisation that he won't catch Messi. Instead of the jubilation of scoring on the big stage, he missed a penalty. His high standards felt thoroughly ashamed, and he couldn't hold back the tears that would make him centre of attention.
Instead of proving he's the best of all time he proved that he is only the 2nd best of his era. And for a man that thinks he's the greatest EVER, 2nd is a bitter pill to swallow.
200m World record holder Micheal Johnson couldn't accept years ago that Donovan Bailey was faster than him.

depending on what context you say Ronaldo does not care about Messi, you would be correct, Ronaldo himself stated in a Piers Morgan interview that he and Messi are not friends but more like acquaintances who hold respect for each other, which is due to the fact that they shared the top stage for over a decade. So in terms of Ronaldo caring about comparing himself to Messi, I highly doubt that is not the case, but I would still say that because they hold mutual respect for one another, that probably comes with a different sense of care. So in other words the trigger that made Cristiano cry is highly likely not anything to do with Messi, @DirtyJamesUK should not be making stupid assumptions like that, something i should be saying to him not you.
However the rest of what YOU said is dumb, it sounds as if you're making fun of Messi, rather than the guy who made the comment, Messi did cry but so has Ronaldo, remember the 2022 world cup when Portugal was knocked out.
There's a saying I like, "it's better to let people think you're stupid, then to open your mouth and prove them right"
      You have done just that.

I'm his fan for 16 years, as far what I have seen, his mind wants to show in the field but his body don't wants to...his intelligence in the game ,speed, agility are all in all time low
since 2022 he has turned into a box player(central striker) & ever since he changed his position from left striker to central striker he plays terrible - always gets pocketed by center backs(maybe due to lack of composure & age)
After his daughter's death,Something is wrong with him mentally , physically and also the luck is too far away from him on many situations
I want someone to advise him to go back to left striker position or he must retire. Because being a lone striker at 39 years old is beyond comedy!!

People need to remember these are all assumptions and theories from the media. I see a hungry Ronaldo on the pitch. Same thirst for goals and winning. I also see the frustration he gets when teammates don’t pick up his runs or cross the ball right. So he ends up getting isolated by 2-3 defenders. Why doesn’t anyone talk about the lack of CLEAR chances he’s getting? Compare that to other players like Lukaku and Havertz. Other attackers have had clearer chances than Ronaldo and failed. Nobody says a thing. All of a sudden it’s childish to cry? All I see is at least half of the football world wanting this man to retire soon and are enjoying his final moments. It’s a shame because he gave a lot to this sport.

He cried because all they needed was the score that penalty and he missed. Ronaldo is passionate he missed a shot that should’ve went in. He felt like he let his country down since that one goal could’ve save them. Then when it was the penalty shootout instead of celebrating he asked for forgiveness after scoring

He should instead look back at a career that brought a new era to the universal phenomenon known as football. He won 5 Champions League, and was a major player in the 2nd Los Galacticos era. He has 37 trophies, while legends like Pele and even Maradona only had 20 and 7 respectively. He won 5 Balon d'Ors when legends like Zidane and Ronaldihno could only manage one, or a maximum of 3.He shouldn't let the fact that he doesnt have a World Cup put him down. His namesake, one of the GOATs, never had a UCL, but everyone still remembers his legacy.

Ronaldo plays all minutes not just because he wants to tbh. I think if that was the true issue at hand, a competent Coach would bench him against Georgia, and talk to him and demand respect, even if it cost him his relation with cristiano. He is a competitor with the highest expectation of himself, he'll always want to play, and he has an enormous ego. He is not the only player like that we've seen at the euros, yet he was the one who didn't get benched a single minute. A coach with some personality would either show him his role, or tell him to fuck off because this is the coach's team (I wouldn't want this last example to happen). I think Martinez is just, as we say here in Portugal, a "bread with no salt". There's absolutely 0 flavour in the way he plays and his tactics and how he runs the team. But the problem doesn't start with him neither, but the Portuguese Federation. They care more about money, that is why they favour Jorge Mendes players so much for example (20 out of the 26 players called are associated with his company). And that is also why they get a coach with near 0 personality in charge. You see, Cristiano is a LOT larger than Portugal at this point, so the best way for the federation to profit off of him is to play him every game, and take him to every competition, because that gives them more TV Rights money, more attendance money, more Kit sales money, etc... And if a coach had him in a role more similar to Modric's at Madrid in this latest Champions League, or Suarez's for Uruguay at this Copa America, less people would be talking about Cristiano, therefore less people would be attending matches, buying kits, or watching matches on the telly (the way I see it, he would play less time, therefore perform better and, therefore, causing more buzz around himself, but that's me IDK). So what do they do? They hire a coach who is known simply because he is known. Not known for being great, and not known for being crap. Merely a puppet who will do what the Federation tells him to do because he needs the job. They don't care about the football when making these decisions. The only exception was when they called up Mourinho, but then again, it's because it is Mourinho, a highly profitable name, and Mourinho and Ronaldo, that would mean MONEY for them. The way I see it, I would have played him with a second striker upfront, and start him from the bench every now and then, at least take just not have him as the lone striker, but they won't allow that because it takes away from his protagonism. And ultimately, this just hurts his legacy a lot, and it pains me that he himself doesn't see it as they let him fall victim to his own personality

    • @lourencothomaz981
      @lourencothomaz981 17 днів тому +5

As of the freekicks, he shouldn't have taken those crosses, but the ones in front of goal? It has to be him. He's had the best freekick conversion rate out of the team this season, Nuno Mendes being the second best. And, as of July 14, 2024, he was the last United player to score a freekick goal, so telling me it should have been Bruno more is just... IDK, I can't see it

thats why santos was fired. he had the balls to bench ronaldo in the wc and ronaldo clearly didnt like it so they brought in martinez, a yes man who would never say no to ronaldo. one of the first things martinez said after becoming portugals coach was of ronaldo’s importance for the portugal team and how he’s an integral part of the squad. it was clear by this press con that he was hired solely to please ronaldo’s ego.

    • @lourencothomaz981
      @lourencothomaz981 12 днів тому

@@abdurrafaykhan That's what people get wrong. It was NOT hiring a yes man to please Ronaldo's ego. Non portuguese people fail to undesrtand that the issue is bigger than Cristiano, and will continue after he retires. The favoritism is for the big names. They hire managers to not cause controversy and please the directors of the FPF. Now the scapegoat is Cristiano, because it is him who they are using to get most of the money, but they also favour Bruno and Bernardo, who consistently don't perform well, and they favour players who are associated to agent Jorge Mendes's company Gestifute, because he is one of the largest football agents in the world, and cooks some of the largest transfer deals, which means money coming in. You'll see how a crap player like Toti Gomes, from Wolverhampton (which basically belongs to Jorge mendes at this point) is somehow selected for the squad and plays two matches for Portugal in the qualifiers, and his market values skyrockets from 4 to 14 million. I tell you, there are so much better, young portuguese players who are completely unknown because they are not managed by Jorge Mendes. And you have crap players like Ramos, Felix, Toti Gomes, Nelson Semedo, Ruben Neves, who consistently get called up, just to see if they can grow their market value. In conclusion, blaming portugals failure on Cristiano is the most smallminded thing, and shows you don't know the larger picture (which I don't expect you to, as you are probably not portuguese). As Cristiano Ronaldo's career enters its twilight, the weight of time bears down on him. Once an unstoppable force, he now grapples with moments of doubt, the echoes of past glories fading like distant cheers on a deserted pitch. His legs, once swift and tireless, now carry the burden of years, and the confidence that once fueled his every move wavers, like a flickering stadium floodlight in the gathering dusk. The world watches, torn between reverence for the legend he was and the ache of witnessing a star dimmed by age.

In the dimly lit tunnel of time, Cristiano Ronaldo-once the embodiment of lightning on the pitch-now walks with leaden feet. His legs, once sculpted by the gods, bear the weight of years and memories. The roar of the crowd, once a symphony that fueled his every sprint, now echoes as a distant whisper, fading into oblivion.
The mirror, once his ally, now mocks him. Wrinkles trace the contours of his face, etching the passage of seasons. The ball, once an extension of his will, now eludes him-a capricious lover who has grown cold. The stadium lights, once celestial beacons guiding his destiny, now cast shadows on his doubts.
In the quiet of his solitude, he replays the moments-the thunderous goals, the triumphant celebrations, the adulation. But they slip through his fingers like grains of sand, leaving only emptiness. His legs ache, not from exertion, but from the weight of unfulfilled dreams. The locker room, once a sanctuary, now suffocates him-a sepulcher of lost glory.
And so, Cristiano Ronaldo-the legend, the icon-stands at the crossroads. His reflection whispers secrets of mortality, and doubt gnaws at his heart. The cheers have faded, replaced by the haunting echo of missed chances. He clings to memories like a sailor lost at sea, hoping they’ll anchor him against the relentless tide of time.
Yet, in the twilight of his career, he finds solace. Not in trophies or records, but in the knowledge that he danced with destiny, even if the music has waned. The pitch, once his canvas, now bears the brushstrokes of younger artists. And as he steps off the stage, he wonders if the applause will linger-a requiem for a fading star.
But perhaps, just perhaps, there’s beauty in this melancholy. For in the creases of his brow, in the ache of his joints, lies a story-a testament to passion, resilience, and the fragility of greatness. And as the final whistle approaches, Cristiano Ronaldo-the boy who dreamed, the man who conquered-bows, not in defeat, but in reverence to a game that gave him wings and taught him to fly.
And so, the tears fall-not for what was, but for what could have been.

Great video, my take is somewhat in the middle maybe im a bit harsher in some ways and more forgiving in other ways.
But I don’t blame Ronaldo for his confidence/delusion, when you’ve dominated the game for 15 years that confidence works for you and is hard to shake off. He’s had this same view of things for the past 15 years and won’t grow out of it. So, I barely even wanna lay the blame there, but rather with Roberto Martinez and the Portuguese FA for enabling the delusion, their goal should not be to make Ronaldo happy but instead bring Silverware to Portugal.
As for Ronaldo holding Portugal back? I lean heavily on yes, he does. Germany lacks a technical #9, they often play Kai Havertz there until it doesn’t work anymore, to which they jump to “plan B” play Fulkrüg at 9 and cross the ball as many times as possible hope 1 goes in. Throughout the Euro’s this was a plan B for both the likes of the Netherlands with Weghorst and Germany with Fulkrüg. For Portugal this was plan A, throughout this euros as expected Germany would have a high amount of crosses, but surprisingly this Euros, Portugal beat them and by a sizable amount too (33 more crosses I think). The reason for this is because Ronaldo doesn’t give you much to work with, when out of possession he doesn’t press. When in possession, he’s very static, he doesn’t help in the build-up, he doesn’t make runs or gets outpaced in runs, he doesn’t have the ability anymore to dribble past a defender. So where does that leave him? Well waiting in the box for crosses that become extremely predictable and it doesn’t add that he’s clearly not as explosive anymore. Unsurprisingly, Portugal had the most amount of crosses this Euro but scored 0 goals from them. He’s actively holding the team back, but worse is the Portuguese FA and Manager having no backbone to deny him. They fired Fernando Santos for subbing Cristiano off during the World Cup in favor of Roberto Martinez, a yes man who’s had no international success with Belgium’s golden generation.

He is daring to be great for his legacy as a goat, but even the greats know when to give in. If he had work on his skill more rather than physical attribute he would played at least decent. Its like night and day between his prime and him now. Another thing is that he won't make key passes to another player with the opportunity. Free kicks , penalties none of which he wants to give in to another player. Another factor would be his role which is a goalscorer, yes goalscorer might score you goals but not a lot matches. You still need to have a decent midfielder. Which is why messi won the world cup, because he makes the passes. Like it or not this is facts. His own ego of obssesing to score more goals is hurting his form right now.

    Cristiano isnt over
Im gonna give you a stat:
Out of 47 crosses that portugal tried, they only managed to get 3 accurate ones.
Meaning that, in 5 games they had the best player in header shots (he's the one with the most header goals) and they still couldnt give him more than 1 good cross? that IS NOT HIS FAULT.
Cristiano was the top-scorer of the euros qualification, and the player with the most goals in the world in 2023, not so far away he was one of the best players in the premier league.
why dont you guys talk about bruno fernandes who cant do a single filtered pass? or about all the other players who are waaay far from being elite? about bernardo silva doing absolutly nothing?
did you guys actually watch the euros? i mean srsly.

seriously people don't understand that even if he isn't the same physically he is one of the smartest footballers ever. Even back in 2016 after his euro final injury he was at even worse state and couldn't dribble or pass at all yet the team supported him and he ended up dunking on teams that entire Champions League season. Some of his movement and passing were extremely smart this season but if you don't play with him like how Argentina do with Messi then obviously he will have a harder time performing. I still believe Ronaldo can do wonders and I hope he returns to Europe and shows everyone how good he still is,

I also have another theory i hope people won't misunderstand or give hate to me. No disrespect to ronaldo. I love him just as much i like messi. But i think ever since messi won the world cup in 2022 his morale may have been down ever since. Maybe another reason to consider why he feels defeated. Cause he wanted to win the world cup to. But his rival and friend won it instead of him. So it must be dragging him down in some ways. Guess you can't always get what you want in life 😢

ofc his euro campaign was a disaster class...but being truly neutral i would say the portugal squad as a whole underperformed ...they look good in the sheets with big reputations but team chemistry was really lacking and there were not good chances created throughout the games they played in the euro cup....ofc ronaldo did not leave up to his name and neither did messi but the rest of the argentinean team stepped up and lived up to their reputation ...even in the world cup in 22 it was the whole argentenian team which were playing good football ...but portugal as a whole lacks inventiveness and just keep making those boring bad quality crosses which no can ever head because they go to the sky...
