just bought this yesterday with a 4070 and i am more than impressed with it. You pay out the ass but its worth it for me personally.

Same, 4070 is nice. I used to overspec these things with 1080's and 2080's but thy would run so hot they would thermal thottle anyway. Now I just get the best CPU I can with the "mid grade" GPU. Mine stays in the bag 8 months out of the year anyway because I only use it while traveling.

Considering other computers I have had in the past, I think the two screws you were having trouble with aren't supposed to come off. They're supposed to stay with with plate and you just remove them together with it and put them back in all together as well. The X17 also has a couple like that as well.

You're from St Louis too?! I just got a Alienware M18 Ryzen/Radeon config. Mine came with 32GB 5200C42 RAM. I swapped it with G.Skill 32GB 5200C38 kit. Sucks yours came with only 4800C42.

I always use it at max resolution and almost never use it on battery

I guess it depends on how serious of an editor you are. I think almost all of these 18 inch laptops have the same screen. Personally I would prefer an external monitor to edit on, but the sheer size of these 18 inch laptops puts it above almost any other laptop

at 18 inches i would not want FHD, I would want QHD, but i also don't play those games, so I don't know if the bump in refresh rate is worth it

I bought the new Alienware Horizon Travel bag that says it is specifically for the 18 inch. However, I didn't have the last one, so I am not sure if it is actually bigger or they just slapped the 18 name on it.

Can the fans be removed without needing to remove the whole heatsink? If not, cleaning the heatsink will be a nightmare!

When you open the laptop next time, check that if possible. (there is no reason for you to open it anyway!!).
My legion 7i 2021 is dead beyond repair. So I am looking at alienware m18. Legion 7's fans cannot be removed without removing the heatsink. So I have to repaste it everytime just to clean the heatsink properly.

Temps are hot garbage, i own both the m16 and the m18 and both throttle just installing applications.

in usa alienware is old charger, big and heavy. in china they give us GAN,small but heavy

Any thermal throttling? At least two reviewers have identified one cpu core which is thermally throttling their laptop, and there's a suggestion that the paste job may have missed one core. For example here, P-core 3 ua-cam.com/video/u6lFhNATrww/v-deo.html
But if you look more closely, the screen quality is one of the lowest and it has already been noted that the fan settings program does not work, we have already written about this in other reviews. Also the vaunted BOSS acoustics do not sound very good compared to competitors. I'm already going to change the second laptop Alienware and now I'm at a loss what to choose, since the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 18 is ahead in all respects. How could it go down like that? Is it a problem to put the best screen, for a top-end laptop at least?

@@5after12 I am the one who had two of the previous top ones Alienware with 17 and 18 inch screens. And before I going to buy a third one, I look at reviews of third-party testers.

Think twice before buying this. Great computer. Almost no battery. Three hours before death penalty. Doesn't go with the price tag.
any gaming laptop this beefy won't have a good battery. They aren't really meant for battery use, they are essentially just more portable workstations
Alienware is complete crap!. I have had my laptop for 2 years and the high dollar LED screen has BURN IN on the screen. CRAP! THE BACK LIT MECHANICAL KEYBOARD IS LOOSING ITS LETTERS.. I HAVE DOTS WHERE LEYTTERS USED TO BE. YOU CANNOT UPGRADE ANYTHING ON THIS $2700 CRAP COMPUTER. DO NOT BUY ALIENWARE!
This will be my 3rd laptop in 3 years by Alienware. I’ve never had any issue at all with any of them.
