    I'd really like it to be Kantor. Guilliman holds him in high regard and even went as far as saying "My brother would be proud of you and your chapter." It would also give them the perfect reason to release a new model of Kantor Primaris or Not.

    I agree dorns sons are the best call. Not only are they famed as a first legion successor but they have a prime defensive mindset which it what sanctus needs. They already have ease of navigation and coordination (well, compared to elsewhere) so what they need is to hold ground while they get on the offensive out in nihilus

    I think Pedro Kantor would be the best choice he got what it take. Guilliman was impressed with him and even said that if Dorn was still around he would also be impressed. After the Orks almost destroyed Crimson Fists chapter to over maybe 100 marines he convinced the High Lords of Terra not to disband his chapter. Also if I'm not mistaken Black Templars see Kantor and Crimson Fists as they equals so if Pedro needed they help they would do it without complaining

      Pedro Kantor would be the first to say he is not worthy. Which is why he is very well suited for the job. And I will have none of this nonsense that as a 2nd founding chapter his is somehow less then the Imperial Fists or the Ultramarines. All of the socalled 1st founding chapters were founded in the 2nd founding when the legions were broken up. They were just the lucky ones who got to keep the legion's name. And in practice the Crimson Fists should be senior to the Imperial Fists as they were wiped out during the war of the Beast, only to be refounded. Having said Kantor is probably not a household name as Dante, Calgar and Grimnar are. That would handicap his rule from recalcitrant Imperial officials, let alone uppity Lords of Terra who would smell opportunity in Guilliman's absence.

      If he has black templars respect then he is most worthy of the title, leading an empire has to be done with respect, not with power. Having someone who can show up, take control, then leave, without a single outcry, well that is a perfect leader.

      The Crimson Fists are too weak a Chapter. You just do not rebuild your Chapter's numbers and fleet in a few years, not even in a pair of centuries. The Warden of Nihilus is both a civilian and military position, so would be the Warden of Sanctus. Kantor is therefore a no go.

    40K lore had it that there were only 3 chapter masters so universally revered throughout the Imperium to be household names, Marneus Calgar, Dante and Logan Grimnar. Which is why Dante is leading Imperium Nihilus. Logic dictates that only Calgar and Grimnar have the reputation and fame that will make Imperial generals, ecclesiarchs, tech priests, civil servants and most importantly the Lords of Tera bow to them. As much as I like Pedro Kantor, and he is probably the best of the Imperial Fist family of chapter masters, not as tired and worn out as Calgar nor as impulsive as Grimnar, it remains to be seen that he will have the reputation and gravitas to make the Lords of Terra heed his words. The Custodes commander might, but he lacks the reputation outside of Terra.

      I think that's the problem with him. He is too invested in the individual, or small town, or even a single planet because he abhors the loss of civilian life. It's an noble quality, but if you are going to be in control of half of the Imperium, you need to be able to make the hard choices and not let your emotions influence your judgement. You need the type of leader who could sacrifice a few billion people in a battle in order to win a war.

  • @askashik
    @askashik 2 роки тому +3

    Tu'shan would be awesome as Warden of Imperium Sanctus. I pick him because the Imperium needs to show that it cares for its citizens. For too long the common folk of the Imperium have been seen as nothing more than numbers on data slates to be sacrificed on a whim. Tu'shan's actions alone will show them that even the comparatively god-like members Astartes care about them, and will willingly sacrifice their own wellbeing for their sake. The Imperium, aside from the Emperor, is the people, show them that the Imperium gives a damn about them besides how they die, and it will never loose faith.
    Tu'shan's willingness to save the Imperium's citizens is never a weakness, and I would argue that it is his, and the Salamanders, greatest strength. The Imperium desperately needs more of it too. Beside, Dante knelt to Tu'shan for his actions....that alone puts him shoulder to shoulder with everyone on this list...minus the Custodes.

    If Guilliman has to appoint one person to do this job my vote is for Pedro. The way he has been written makes me think that he is the most balanced choice. I think Kantor has the experience, respectability and sense of the big picture to succeed in this kind of roll.

  • @Danielelcabroncete
    @Danielelcabroncete 2 роки тому +2

    I think it will be a masterful machiavellian move to appoint Azrael: Guilliman is no fool and he probably has noted the coordinated "legion-esque" behavior of the sons of the Lion and I bet he can also smell a common hidden agenda... Making Azrael the regent of Imperium Sanctus will force them to be more engaged and worried about the common benefit of the wider Imperium, a task they will be up to more easily than others, thanks to their already united character and experience in joint operations. I mean, you will be assigning
    a space marine LEGION to guard half the Imperium while you can check them and their secret objectives
    more closer, that's a win-win to me.

  • @noiseinmyblood

    No Astartes is going to be able to rein in the High Lords of Terra while Guilliman is away. It can only be another Primarch. It's got to be Vulkan, Corax or The Lion. The Khan is too mercurial. Leman is too wild. Vulkan and Corax are the most understanding of normal Human needs. The Lion is probably unrivaled by any other Loyalist Primarch when it comes to political maneuvering and calculated decision making. It has to be The Lion. Stop hitting the snooze button.

  • @sirdanthechipwright821

    I'm going to have to agree with you, Rho. The lineage of Dorn is simply far better suited for administrative and political roles. Kantor would be in his element as a cold/calculating tactician, tempered by the moral and empathetic nature of his character. Astartes like Grimnar(my spiritual liege and favored chapter master) or Tu'Shan(2nd fave), while exemplary leaders and warriors, can better serve the Imperium fulfilling their true purposes. That being the immovable shield and unstoppable axe of the Imperium, respectively. And Azrael is far too immersed in shady Dark Angels shenanigans. Can't go running off hunting fallen and guarding secrets with half the Imperium to manage and protect. Also, I would love to see the Crimson Fists thrust into the spotlight. Kantor is a BEAST and as a chapter they have considerably more depth of character than the Imperial Fists. The enemies of the Emperor are insistin' on a fistin', and Pedro Kantor will oblige ✊

    A Triumvirate! Calgar, Shrike, and Azrael.
    I don't think it would be safe to put Calgar in charge... The Ultramarines are already being seen as a bit suspicious and some times a bit too close to heretical. Some in the Imperium would lose their shit if Guilliman were to put Calgar in charge; they would see it as Guilliman trying to turn the Imperium in a Realm of Greater Ultramar. However, if Calgar weren't in charge, then he would feel even more insulted and upset then he already is, which would be problematic, not to mention that his talent would be wasted.
    Therefore, a Triumvirate of Wardens would be best, including Calgar, representing the Galactic East of Imperium Sanctus, Azrael for the West, and perhaps Shrike, for the Galactic South and internal borders of the Imperium Sanctus. The Imperial Fists are too blindly loyal to question anything, and the Black Templars will follow suite of the Phalanx (though while dragging their feet). The Salamanders likewise, they are irreproachable, and wouldn't even question not being part of the Triumvirate. They would be more than happy to follow the orders of Shrike, who shows very similar concerns for the Civilian populations. The Wolves of Fenris might be surprised and upset, and with Logan Grimnar being an equal to Dante and Calgar in legendary status... However they will remain fiercely loyal as they always have, and they are too busy with the Cicatrix to really be bothered with much else. They will probably do whatever they want and not listen much, but that's alright, they can keep on doing what they do best which is to scare the shit out of Chaos in their own realm.

      How are the Ultra Marines ever been seen as "close to heretical?" They have one of the finest records of all the Legions bar none. They have served loyally and faithfully for centuries. The Imperial Fists also have an amazing history and are fiercely loyal as well. As for the Black Templars dragging their feet? I dont think the Templars have ever been accused of dragging their feet. If anything they are quick to judge and waste little time.

    • @johansmifthelry9307
      @johansmifthelry9307 2 роки тому

      @@wReid-ts8bc Black Templars dragging their feet because of Guilliman's disagreements with the Ecclesiarchy and not recognizing the Emperor as a God. They also have history with the Codex Astartes, and don't like people telling them what to do, so they probably wouldn't really like a warden, or wardens.
      Ultramarines as close to heretical because of Guillimant's return and the way the Ultramarines are representing change in a previously frozen age now. The primaris, new gear, Cawl, alliances and dialogues with xenos. The reforms on Terra and the Imperium. This and more, plus the fact that Guilliman is restoring the 500 Realms of Ultramar: to some, it might start to look like he is shaping a new Empire the way he wants it and not the way the Emperor meant it. Combine this with the discovery of a book detailing the history Imperium Secundus, and people will see this as a second attempt to Guilliman's past action. Which is why I thing that Calgar being the sole Warden would be bad. Inquisitors, governors and other powerful politicians would lose their shit. Most chapters would be totally fine with it though. As part of a Triumvirate, those same people won't be nearly as bothered with Calgar being a warden, since they'll see it as the other two balancing out his power and keeping him in check

      @@pecthemage1334 TBF though, most of that force hated the lord inquisitor leading the operation and nearly mutinied before they assaulted Fenris. So I’d say that the force was most definitely not at fighting capacity, and the task force was more there to threaten the planet into submission than anything else. Plus, the Inquisition never sent assassins against the Space Wolves. And while I agree that Logan and his chapter are amazing in a stand up fight, I don’t think he’d survive a callidus or culexus assassin. Heck if the Inquisition is petty enough, they’ll start doing to the space wolves what they did to the celestial lions. Remember, the inquisition is very powerful and has close ties to the Assassinorum. Don’t underestimate those assassins. Look what happened to the high lords.

    I beleive it would make sense for Trayan Valoris to take the position. when I thought about a Regent for Terra my mind went straight to the 10k because it would mean the emperor has a tighter grip on the reins of the Imperium. Sure he might reject it,b but the coming box set does pit the GSC against the Custodes, not the Imperial Fists. And if you make the Regent someone separated from terra it would give the impression of reducing the importance of the Homeworld, possibly justifing the Lords of Terra to act publically against Guilliman. If it isnt the Imperial Fists, or the Custodes, the only other possible choice is a Human, and it makes political sensce for them to also be a High Lord. If it came down to it, Morvenn Vahl is currently the best choice for non-astartes.
    Gulliman must have these two criteria to avoid civil war: 1. From Terra 2. either a Chapter Master or a Higlord. Unless there is a Zero2Hero case just waiting in the shadows.

    The issue is that Guilliman would want someone most like himself but still be politically acceptable and as such would only pick astartes or custodes. Gregor Dessian and Kayvaan Shrike would be considered too inexperienced given that they only recently became chapter masters. Pedro Kantor for all his reputation is still from a successor chapter and simply wouldn't have the needed clout (the same goes for all the other successors). Tu'Shan is too compassionate. Marneus Calgar wouldn't be politically acceptable. Logan Grimnar, Jubal Kahn, Kardan Stronos and Trajan Valoris all would either refuse the position or be considered unsuitable due to their respective natures and Asterion Moloc would be all kinds of NOPE! Which just leaves Azreal. He is experienced, has the clout of a founding chapter (especially as the former 1st legion), is tactically astute, has the absolute military backing of the unforgiven, is cold enough to make the hard calls. Is willing to take on organisations like the inquisition, would likely have the begrudging respect of the custodes given what the emperor thought of the Lion's loyalty and has a command structure within the Dark Angels able to seamlessly handle his absence with Belial ready and waiting to step up. Also if Guilliman knows their secret (which given that it's Guilliman is highly likely) he would likely appoint Azreal so that he could keep the unforgiven in line as the spotlight would truly be on them.

    I think Calgar is the only real choice other than Valoris. One thing to consider, Guilliman had faced a coup attempt by the deposed High Lords of Terra. After he dealt with them, by and large, he's the only real power in Holy Terra. With that in mind, I think he could safely install Calgar into the high office of Warden of Imperium Sanctus.

    I don't know - I think Logan Grimnar's track record as a defender of humanity - willing to go to war with the inquisition to save the Emperors own servants - is a great choice. You know he has the balls to stand up for the imperium against the treacherous high lords (and other powerful entities). Probably the custodians would have his back if it came to that - along with other astates legions... I mean, he killed grey nights and inquisitors and is still there... Plus given the authority of RG himself - no one would mess with him...

  • @endwarAH80blackfoot
    @endwarAH80blackfoot 2 роки тому

    Pedro Kantor is easily the best choice as warden of Imperial Sanctus. He is pretty much up there with the best of them. Able to recover his chapter from extinction multiple times. He has earned his accolades.
    He is steady in moments of tough descision making. A master fighter with his shiny red fist and storm bolter. Yet also in countenance, he has compassion and humanity to those who follow in his shadow.
    Helbrecht while brilliant strategist and a combatant would only concern himself in the destruction of the Emperor's enemies. A Salamander would think of the people first, but not make the tough descision that would be needed.
    It comes full circle in a poetic way. The Crimson Fists after all were founded by the Imperial Fists Space Marines who showed promise and renown. The same Space Marines even divided into small fleets were able to push back traitor fleets as if they were a legion.

    I could easily see Azrael being a contender instead - it might be a cool step along the way to tension between the two halves of the imperium if the Unforgiven have to choose between duty to Rowboat and their obsession with the Fallen. WE all know it would be a bad pick, but XIII doesn't...

    As a son of The Lion I agree with the choice of a son of Dorn being chosen. While I think either Kontor or Gregor would be an excellent choice my backing goes to Gregor. I believe that having the leader of the Imperial Fists (and the leader of the remade legion should the need arise) as the warden would be better than the Ultramarines, not because they couldn’t do a superb job, but because it is my opinion that they should accompany Guilliman on his crusade

    Are you mad? You need to remove Wolf lord from your name. The space wolves, Logan grimnar is perfect for the reasons the salamanders aren’t. They will protect the people but till able to make the tough decisions. Grimnar is said to be the oldest chapter master second only to Dante. They have bjorn who would by his mere presence quell any disquiet as he’s done to inquisitors and grey knights. The imperial fists are boring every one of them. The warden doesn’t need to be In r the midst of everything but have the leadership and experience to command when needed which grimnar has shown countless times. .

    I don't think any of those are really realistic. I like them all, but all of them have significant weaknesses which would prevent them from successfully doing the job. It needs to be someone diplomatic, with notoriety that has the ability to make the hard decisions and manage multiple projects and not many of the Astartes fit that description outside of Calgar but he is too close to papa smurf. I agree Terra needs to remain the center of governance though. Dante was without doubt the perfect choice, I think it show go to the space wolves or the black templars.
