I have binged this entire neighborhoods series and I am just floored by how genuine, kind, and down to earth Pittsburgh people are. My grandmother was raised in Pittsburgh but unfortunately I have never had the pleasure of visiting there. But after watching this series, I'm high-key considering moving there. These videos are excellently made, and it's an absolute pleasure to see them.
This is such a beautiful series, I didn't think it was possible to lean so much about a city over a thousand miles away from me and still feel like I'm being welcomed into the fold. Keep it up, lots of love from Dallas
@@MaxD. I'd love to stop by! It's been a dream of mine to ride Amtrak through the Appalachians in the autumn. If I ever get to do that I'll have to plan on staying a night (or two) in the city. Cheers!
@@MrCzechTexan The Amtrak Pennsylvanian (Philly/Harrisburg/Pittsburgh) is an absolutely gorgeous train route. I've only done it in the spring, but wow, fall would be amazing. It only runs to Pittsburgh once each weekday in each direction, but SO worth it! It goes through so much forest, along so many riversides, and around Horseshoe Curve -- legendary.
I get strangely emotional during these episodes. The music, the laughs, the honesty, the filmmaking...15 minutes at a time...damn, man. Bottle this and inject it straight into my veins.
Agreed. I'm born and raised in Pittsburgh and would have never left if the Mills hadn't closed. It's a beautiful, honest, uplifting and raw look into what Pittsburgh really is. He turns me back into a 13 year old kid running those streets.

Hi Dean, I love your videos. I live in Millvale Pa, and I think this is an awesome little borough, that deserves to be talked about. After the flood in 2004, Millvale, looked like a war zone, however everyone pulled together, and not only brought our little borough back , it is now better than it ever was. Never knew anything about Polish Hill before this. The Church is absolutely beautiful, and I can't even begin to imagine how much work of time, effort and finances that took to accomplish. People don't do that anymore, not to the extent they had to, without any choice then to get it done. The Pottery place looks so cool. I love the look of the place with the stone wall and big windows. Honestly, put a fire place for warmth and more ambiance and I could live there. The last home was great with all the wide open space and huge windows. But, the thing that surprised me the most was the guy in the coffee shop. I'm surprised he wouldn't be happy to see new apts coming in etc, because that would only increase his business. He and his wife must be really happy and comfortable with the way things are to not want to see that growth. Good for them. 👍
Got married in that church in 1964. Moved away and out of state. Returned in 1988 and revisited. The Christmas midnight mass was an event. FOR MANY YEARS AND DONNY THINNNES WAS
MY LANDLORD.
These videos are great. Glad u came up in my feed. Keep it up, hopefully the UA-cam gods dont shadow ban you
For future episodes you should show where the neighborhood you are in is located like have a shot where it zooms in on a map. Just a suggestion i don’t know just was thinking about that. Great video’s absolutely love these. Found these videos the other day and Binge watched all in one day. Keep it up!
I remember apartment hunting years ago and I went into Kaiber I think? It had like a record shop on the upper floors and had kick ass band shirts.
I love your videos. I do public restroom reviews in our area that I was even on the news for in 2018! Keep up the amazing work. I’d love to see parts of Beaver County too eventually!
@Vic Marrotti rofl
Public restroom reviews? Have you reviewed the one on top of Schenley Park? They say Kordell Stewart loved that one. ;)
the rock room was good times🍻
Well done! My favorite video of the week!
Being from Jersey I'm curious how you've moved here and find/found all this great information & history about the Burgh !? This cant ever end Dean ! I'm way too into your videos. . ...
Dean have you considered live streaming once in a while? It would be fun to watch you live in the neighborhoods and people could also super chat or pay pal you! Shout out to " the hollow" 😂❤
Anita, there is additional footage and features via the Patreon account.
@@Elise__Mae Thanks! I figured as much but also if he live streams people will super chat or pay pal him money for the channel as well. It's a great way for creators to raise funds.
@@Elise__Mae Is there an email for Dean? I work in the Strip District at the oldest LGBTQ bar in the city and if he does the area we would love to have him
@@Anita_Backrub Dean has mentioned that he will keep up with messages on his Patreon account. Also, Patreon supporters vote on which neighborhood will be next.
These vids are great. Well done and thank you.
Great series, always great videos. Keeps you entertained. Good shit dean👍🏻
Every sunday I wait for your video to post and watch while I eat my breakfast lol
Indeed.
You rock! Love your episodes and love Polish Hill!
Another excellent video!
Can you do an episode on Whitehall? I'm moving to Pittsburgh from a very rural area across the country this summer and I really wanted to live Downtown or in Polish Hill, but the rent was too expensive for me. However, I've found astronomically cheap housing in Whitehall and it looks like it's my only option right now. I know nothing about the area.
Im guessing Pittsburg has a few areas with big box stores? Its not ALL small indie shops
Looking for a new hood ..Dean lead the way
So damn good.
I REMEMBER WALKING UP/DOWN THE
CITY STEPS, GOING TO DONNY'S. WALKNG
ACROSS THE BRIDGE PAST THE IRON CITY
BREWERY AND SMELLING THE HOPS AT
NIGH IN MY APARTMENT.
The Rock Room is the most rad bar in PGH
When the intro becomes this seasons hottest new crime thriller show 😂😂😂. Another great episode Dean!
Dude, you're from Jersey? Where in Jersey? I grew up in Parsippany, currently living in Jersey City, looking to move to Pittsburgh soon. Your videos have helped tremendously, can't thank you enough.
