One of the worst documentaries I have ever seen. Full of propaganda and with very little real explanations.

I was impressed and disturbed by it. The fact that cheating is so common place, that the organizations regulating it and the International Sports are so willing to give in to the pressure of politics is disturbing. Even the admission that they cannot stop doping even is too much.

Great documentary. I would love to see Bryan's lab data throughout the 5 months of doping. His FTP improved considerably over the 5 months, but it was unclear in sufficient detail why this performance wasn't reflected in the cycle race second time around.

@Anil Löeb I've only just seen this documentary but not being able to change gears for 100km (he suggests in the film) due to a broken derailleur would destroy anyones results, no matter how much doping you did prior. It had nothing to do with him getting cocky. I'd be very interested to find out how much time he lost, if any, during the stage with no additional gears. It would have been good to have seen his timing from the first and second years, assuming the stages were the same, to see what the potential deficit could have been. Although I imagine he took the decision to include this in the documentary to set the scene of how he became involved in the whole conspiracy in the first place.
For me it definitely brought more to the documentary than took away, seeing how it unfolded from an initial concept of showing the grey areas and flaws in anti doping regulations, rather than it being solely about the Russia conspiracy.

yeah, that's strange. when he was first raced HRA in 2014 he has finished top 20 every stage (his ftp 250W), year later he finished top 15 with FTP 349W?

A documentary that I consider very important with its most valuable point glossed over and not considered by all the reviewers! What was it? After a year of closely following a doping program, he did not improve his performance from when he raced clean the year before! As an old race horse trainer who has used drugs on performance animals in my early career and who soon came to the conclusion that there is no such thing as a performance enhancer, his results were no surprise to me! I am not saying don't enforce drug laws, only that they will never make a champion performance. If only life were that easy!

BS! His first performance riding clean, he finished 14th out of 440 participants. His attempt, doped, in same event, he finished 27th! Did you actually watch the documentary? He, himself admitted and came to the conclusion that his doping regime would never turn him into a champion biker! Yes, he had a derailleur problem, but no competitive performances are perfect. There are always excuses that can be made by everyone.

Why don’t they just let everybody dope, if you can get hCG, testosterone and HGH from a doctor legally? I think Bryan is still on testosterone and hCG btw

I wasn’t sure what to make of this film. To what extent is it documentary? Much of it was heavily edited and much apparently staged (much that wouldn’t happen, and cameras always around). The premise of the film at the beginning, which is included, so we know we are being told a story, is soon taken over by corruption and espionage (jaunty scenes of zoom calls with Grigory, half naked for information develop into challenges against the state).
The use of Orwell is deliberate. So the film has an agenda. The Orwell sequences jarred for me. I suspect it is just an anti Russia film, a film about propaganda which might just be propaganda. Almost impossible to tell. Cheers

That is not true. The documentary that ruined Grigory Rodchenkov life was the ARD german documentary (researched by the television reporter Hajo Seppelt) that put him on spot as the mastermind of the Russian dopping operation. Grigory actually asked Fogel for help after he realized Putin government was planning to put all the fault on him and most likely would end with his death.
