mstrbkr IMO, it doesn't matter McLaren didn't qualify for the Indy 500 race. The car was too slow anyway to make an impact in the actual race. Alonso is a great driver no doubt, but even he would not have won the race in that dog of a car.
Palmer’s analysis is awesome, glad to see him doing well after F1.

Vettel has lost the plot since Germany 2018. He's a good driver who is looking very ordinary these days. I hope he redeems himself in the second half of the season, even if the championship is lost. (Regardless of what happens about his Ferrari contract extension.)

Indeed, good summary! Leclerc was great this race. What I miss is the fact that Verstappen managed to keep his car going after this huge crash, but also continuous his race and still is faster than his teammate!

Don't really think Leclerc should've been the driver of the day, starting from P3, would have finished P5 behind his teammate, with Verstappen on the podium despite starting behind.
Also what the hell is Ferrari doing tangling with Redbull anyways, they were nowhere near Mercedes.. I think it's good for them that they got to fight with RB to distract people from their horrid on track performance this weekend.

This series is more about discussing controversy that occurred during the race as well as clarifying the rules. There was nothing wrong with that move so it has no place in this analysis, it's not a highlight video. Brilliant as that move was, let's be fair there haven't been many great moves yet this season and it was on Gasly (who gave him all the room).

LeClerc did have a move on Verstappen that was questionable but I was so glad stewards just let them race.
Sylmaron Mars Correct saw it and happened very quickly. Stewards did a great job for letting them race.
@@cf6282 But they did a bad job to not penalize Max in Austria. Otherwise Leclerc would have raced much cleaner and the battle woul have been even more exciting for us viewers.

EhjFa550 what? The battles were more entertaining because they raced with passion, agression and it was personal. If Max was penalized in Austria Leclerc would have been penalized here for pushing max wide in the last corner. It’s great that they let them race like this, it’s what we all want.
The greatest thing about this rivalry is the fact that they race at the limit of how aggressive each can be with their lines. Meanwhile Vettel can't handle 2 corners with Verstappen ahead without a collision. I think that demonstrates a mutual respect in the midst of aggressive competitiveness that makes for such high quality racing.
No disrespect to Vettel, on the contrary, I wanted to see him achieve to see something change at the front of the pack, but alas, his mistakes have been detrimental to the element of surprise that we used to see near the front of the pack in previous seasons.
So good see finally see a proper angle of the hamilton v bottas battle!

I think that Hamilton and Bottas set a very high standard with clean but hard racing, Max v Charles is great but I don't think it was as fair. As I said, I definitely don't mind though
It's a fair point, but i think the context has to be taken into account.
Hamilton and Bottas being in the same Team, while Verst. and Leclerc have a rivalry since many years and at its peak right now. Their moves still look very mastered.
I think Leclerc was pushing the boundaries. put the result was really exciting racing and no one really missed out over it. With Mercedes they're teammates for one and you don't want to piss off Toto. Plus Lewis still remembers his time with Rosberg and is awfully generous to his teammates, same in Baku.
Leclerc has lost a win to Verstappen . He's not gonna play nice again.

That pass Leclerc put on Gasly was awesome! I haven't seen any replays of it anywhere.
Very good video, really nicely done. My only problem was with the cuts with Ver vs Lec. The choice to use this swosh in effect over two clips really messed with my head, made me slightly nauseating.

IMO Grosjean & Magnussen collision is far worse than what Jolyon had at the 2017 British GP. And yes, if you recall it, he did not even start the race.

I believe Leclerc put on scrubbed tyres at the pit stop, which would have helped warm them up quicker. They definatley don't have the same shine as Max's tyres.
Palmer is, video by video, making a curriculum to be a FIA steward next season!

Great analysis as usual. Just would like to point out that ultimately Verstappen had better pace then Leclerc and also was the only one of the two to complete an overtake (on Vettel). Therefore for me Verstappen is driver of the day over Leclerc.
