I love music, I love Sigur Ros.... But if I HAD to chose just one album to listen to for the rest of my life....my desert island record.... It would be the album Von. It might take 20 listens to finally GET it(as it did for me), but now, after easily 100 full listens...I can say with total sincerity that it has saved and changed my life on more than one occasion. It isn't an album of "songs." It's an album that changes you over the course of an hour journey. I can't say enough about it....and it makes me laugh to remember the first time I ever heard that album in full.......I hated it. Did nothing for me. That still blows my mind.
the mellow 90's.. or at least i think of it that way :) good music, chill times... i was too young to remember, am i wrong? wish i was older to experience the culture then.
the 90s weren't the best era on many aspects, but a lot of the cultural aspect was quite mellow indeed, depending on where you are from of course.. i think it was mellow but quite dark or cynical at the same time.. Radiohead's Ok Computer is a good exemple of a mix of dark cynical theme and what some call «marshmellow rock», and great movies offered a great blend of mellow and dark feel like trainspotting, american beauty and fight club.. It depends on what you look at and it's subjective but i think i get that mellow vibe you're talking about which is really great :)
I guess this is so rare because it was with Àgust on drums from the Von LP. He went shortly after that, so maybe they decided to newly create this masterpiece so they could keep playing it live without his drum part.
Jimmy wasn't the first to do it, though. No disrespect to either Jónsi or Jimmy, though, as you said of yourself, I am a massive Sigur Rós fan and certainly have a lot of admiration for Jimmy Page :) What I love about Jónsi's use is that isn't a gimmick, it becomes part of their sound throughout their catalogue, whereas what I've seen of others it seemed a bit more of an experiment and sometimes a bit of an on-stage wank :P
been listening to this version of the song for years
stil great

I just can't hear the ressemblance between the tunes from the ''Von'' album and the one from the lives (this one or the Heim or others)??
Great atmospheric record, but the 6-minute silence is too much for me
@@mathias841 same. The live versions are entirely different. It's SUCH a studio album tho.
I can't believe I am finally getting to see them next week!!!
I was exactly finding this! Thank you very much

Why on earth do we have the crappy music that's in the top charts, when music like this exists?
