As they have a mage (thus unlimited water): Always Shield before big pull and drink. Don't need to heal right after pull bcs that could pull aggro on any mobs that stay further away or don't run to tank (casters).
He probably had lots of reasons to leave and that is the part that made it into the video. Dungeons have a difficulty curve to them where the early sections are a test bed to see how your group operates. If you think they don't have what it takes to help you survive the difficult part of the dungeon, it is best to leave early.
He played it correctly. He expected the rare spawn pat to run down the straight path but apparently it runs around the pillars. So getting to just one side would have agro'd due to radius, as those walls in the canyon have few places to get up them. He's also one of the top priests in most iterations of WoW.

@e.p.s.9037 he's getting hit by gray/green mobs. They're dealing ~20 dmg per hit, siphon life heals ~15 per tick at level 1. So ok let's say maybe he doesn't completely outheal it, but it sure as hell is better than sitting there netted saying "nothing I can do" dying to gray mobs. If siphon life ticks are enough to live until you get corruption rolling on everything, it's probably survivable.
4:35 this guy would have been just fine if he just played it correctly. I just solo'd the same quest on the same class around the same level a couple days ago. You can't miss healing interrupts, spread out your damage, and blow most of your mana dropping magma totems that die instantly. The most important thing when fighting multi-mobs like that is burst quickly to bring the numbers down. Also clearing the path before the quest waves spawn so you don't get random adds.
That warrior seeing a red flag in the healers performance and giving opportunities for the problem to be resolved was level headed and probably saved their character by leaving the group. If they aren’t going to use a basic and early level staple spell, what else are they not going to do or know? I wouldn’t want to stick around to find out that’s for sure.
Power word shield is something you use on warriors and druids if you’re saving them from nasty damage. Otherwise it hinders their rage and costs alot of mana. As a priest I prefer to renew and then top up with a downranked spell to save mana and reduce threat.

Siphon life on a mob won't outheal the damage from that same mob. Why do you think 4-5 would make it better?

Power world shield is mana intense and inefficient, and blocks warriors from getting rage. You really don't want to use it except in emergencies.
