On caves you missed a BIG thing. I have two harvesters whos main job it is to supply my 9 crafters. the ONLY (gonna repaeat) ONLY time you go INTO A CAVE to harvest. Is when your 5 levels higher. This prevents all the dangers you covered in your video. Mobs should be gray if you can but 5 levels should let you live through anything.
First time playing wow was hardcore this spring. I died over and over and over again... every time i died I made it another couple levels. Finally got to 44 after over 400+ hours and about 30 attempts. Stopped playing because other games came out. Such a fun experience and ill likely return for official.
One tip I haven't seen addressed is. Level your defense skill. Let some weak mobs beat on you for a bit so you don't get crushing blowed by something at your level or even under
I never got that one, as in why you need to level it because at least as a priest I get hit so much its always high yet I saw mage and druid go to low levels areas so perhaps my dps is just poor vs theirs :D so I get hit enough times to never need to level it.
@@ErrorGameManiac because if your defense skill is low you'll get hit harder by lower level mobs, priests is a class that just sits there and takes hits cause of how the class rotation works so yeah you don't usually have to worry about it with priest
@ErrorGameManiac the reasoning is priests get hit a lot since they just bubble and tank hits. Mages don't really get hit, locks and hunters don't get hit if they use pets correctly. Priests and melee are the only ones leveling up their defense properly as they level most of the time
You don't have to tell your pet to stay. If he's attacking, you can run away while he continues to attack where he's at. Once pet despawns, mob resets. To live in a bad situation as a pet class, run early, run fast. It's easy to know your pull went bad, so if it does, run with cheetah instead of fighting. In order for mob to resist fd, he must be in LOS, so if you have to fd, try to run behind something, keeping in mind if a mob can shoot through what you are behind, you are still in LOS.
Same, I tried it out forever ago but I don't think I even left the starter area. Going in as a complete noob has been extremely refreshing and honestly the HC aspect is what pulled me to it ( outside of all the content on YT ) Ive been enjoying the hell out of it.
honestly I was never gonna touch hardcore at all but since I heard that blizzard allows non hardcore characters to transfer out on death to a normal server I might actually wanna try it
It really flips the whole game on it's ass imo. I never knew it was something I wanted, or needed, in WoW, but I honestly don't think I can go back to normal WoW now after playing it. It just feels boring by comparison. Whether that's a downside or not is up to the person to decide lol.
This adds meaning to the game that hasn’t been there in a long time. It reinforces the lesson that If there is no chance of losing then you can’t win either
One tip that got my lvl 50 char killed, is that inside a dungeon, if you play a healer ALWAYS keep a max distance from tank, I have a paladin randomly use BoP on himself, while he was on 80% hp, I got the aggro, and me sitting right next to him, got immidiatelly deleted from mobs.
You're so right about awareness. 2 days ago i died on my 54 hunter exactly because of that. I just finished doing the Jin'thalor quests in hinterlands (horde quests) and I safely hs back to raventusk village. I was so happy that i pulled it off and was casually walking on the beach bragging in my guild of my feats just to get killed by the fucking elite turtle. I have three tips that are closely related to a recent HC death I suffered. 1)Never level in a zone with mobs equal level to you unless you have no other choice. 2)If it comes down to a choice between waiting for mobs to respawn, or pulling two or more, always choose to wait, especially if you're fighting mobs that are equal to your level. 3)If you ignore the first two tips and you find yourself trying to run for your life from a pack of mobs, absolutely do not forget to use one of the dozen or so Target Dummies that you painstakingly made for this exact scenario, you freaking dingus.
I say this with nothing but love for my man crix, but I cracked up when you said you're going for world first warlock and then the first tip you say is 'don't rush on your journey, take it slow' :D I know that was advice for people wanting to survive, not getting world first, but just was funny ^^ Great video, been thinking about giving hc a try now with official, will definitely be watching you stream too! :D gl!
A list of all the mods used here would be helpful instead of scrolling through the video to find the specific bits but overall great video will help me a lot thanks.
I died at level 20 today in Loch modan to 3 roaming level 20 elites. Everything else was smooth sailing up to that point, so my advice to anyone stumbling on this video is: Zoom out, look around and watch powerful enemies pathing. If you blindly run through a zone you'll get blind-sided like I did. Take things slow, look for where mobs are, where they're headed to and path away from them if you're just trying to get from point A to B. Moving the opposite direction from your objective around mobs taking an additional 10s is better than taking a 2 hours to get back to that point if you die. Some suggestions for classes for complete newbies; Hunters - until level 10 it can be hard, but once you get your pet it becomes way easier, you essentially have 2 party members. Just be careful of their pathing since they can aggro. Warlocks - Same as hunters, but with wands mana cost will be low and your void walker has a built in taunt ability - abuse it. Paladins - Unlike the other two, a pala doesnt have any pets to take aggro, but what they do have is "oh fuck" buttons in the form of two invulnerability bubbles, heals and damage buffs. Druid - Some of the fastest levelling out there because of their beast forms, just be careful you dont overpull or pull mobs too high level. Shaman - Really strong early, but falls off later, their damage is insane early game. Just be careful your totems dont draw aggro as they only disappear when replaced. Rogue - Slow start, but a lot of CC to help you survive once you get them. Priests - A lot of survivability as long as you can manage your mana consumption. Mage - A lot of CC: Polymorph, cone of cold and frost nova. Wands to reduce mana cost and blink allow them to jump away when needed. Top 4 picks; Paladin Druid Warlock Hunter
changing strafe to A and D is good but maybe consider changing your forward as well. Making forward E and then strafe S and F you then have access the A key as well for keybinding.
@@cococock2418 It is to create more binds not less. It may not be something you want to try which I can understand I just like it to have access to more keys when playing.

I started playing Wow in 2008. My character would die, and I would lose interest in them. It just didn't feel right to keep playing. I started deleting them and starting over when they died. No one understood why I did it, and called me crazy for throwing away a "perfectly good toon". People would go out of their way to get me killed on my server, just to see if I would delete and start over. Getting disconnected in the middle of an easy fight was the worst. I once had a 49th level toon die on an elevator in UC. I didn't even know that was possible. All in all, I played wow until 2018, and went through several hundred characters. I managed to get to max level twice in that time. I would've had a lot more fun with it if other's had played like I did, but I never came across anyone else who played the same way. I finally had to give it up.

@@CrixGuides my plan is to play for years. I’m gonna do solo play with mail trading between characters professions. No groups or anything. Gonna do one of each class, alliance. @CrixGuides Do you have any pull on the Hardcore addon? I have an idea to enhance it. I have mentioned it to several people involved, all have loved the idea, but it still has not been added after many many months.
One argument that I don't understand is this: "You will use spells and abilities you wouldn't normally use." Well it's Hard Core ok. So we absolutely do not want to die. So we will use every ability possible not to die. But Not Dying has for the most part *always* been the goal. There is no situation in Vanilla Classic where you would rather die than not (Excepting stupid glitches and abuses of dying to fast travel) So what changed? One particular example: "Warlocks will use curses that you would never use in Vanilla" I disagree! It should read: "Warlocks will use curses that they should've always been using but were too lazy in Vanilla because death mattered *less*"
Because it's a fun class, fast to level & good survivability I've decided to go mage, my friend however I think is a true sadist and is going to level a warrior, may the odds ever be in his favour lol.
@Funkapotamus levelling a warrior has an unforgiving levelling process regardless, the reason why it’s got a high survivability to 60 is because of those wanting that true hardcore challenge. Let’s not pretend warrior is somehow easier to level based off that stat lol.
I really don't understand all the hate kargoz gets The dude is the father of this entire game mode and community, if not for him we would have nothing. Great video as always crix.
I am on my 3rd warrior and lost 3g I made up to lvl 18 when that warrior died. My 3rd warrior is doing good so far. So once the servers are back, going to pick up skinning and creating a bank alt and send the gold to my alt. Been making a lot of gold selling in the AH herbs, animal meat, cloth, and small fury paw. I vendor the green items instead of waiting for it to sell in the AH or waste my time in trade chat because I prefer to level.
Warrior is so rough. Leveled one when they added the classic servers, it was so brutal, died so much. Can't imagine leveling one in hardcore lol, must be brutal! Good Luck!
@TheGreatHeeroYuy Yeah that's an achievement. You're only allowed to wear what you make. That's acts differently. There's many achievements we have on there, each with its different ruleset or requirements. But the fundamentals of SSF is simply solo self found, as in you're playing solo and can only use what you have found. If that makes sense.
They wanted to call it the Ironman challenge? There's already an Ironman that dates back to a LOOOONG time ago (idk if all the way back to vanilla, but def pretty far back), and it's ultra fecking hard - no dying (obviously), no gear better than white, no talents, no professions other than first aid, no buffs other than what your class can buff (this also means no food buffs or flasks/elixirs buffs), and no grouping.
Great Guide and thank you for having my clip on the video! The link to my clip is wrong, if you can update it and have the right link I would appreciate it :)
I'm still umming and ahhhing about trying this out. If I do, I'll probably only try once - unless I really have a massive change of heart (and I might) - so I need to pick my class very carefully. I don't want to be boring and play Hunter (my current main), so I'm thinking something I've never done before. Like Priest. I might casually play, join promising looking dungeon groups and take it slow.
@@CrixGuides I suspect being a healer means being very popular too. I might even purposely go out of my way to save other characters from time to time. Better get used to wanding, though.
@@andromidius That's the fun of it! You'll easily find your dungeon runs too. However be careful because healing agro kills so many healers in dungeons!

@@DeusSalisyea annoying but close to 100% of deaths happen because someone played like a noob
I can’t wait to see HC raids. To date we haven’t seen a single legit HC raid. It’s gonna be rare indeed in official.
Yeah I'm very excited as well
@@CrixGuides my plan is to play for years. I’m gonna do solo play with mail trading between characters professions. No groups or anything. Gonna do one of each class, alliance. Won’t be doing a shaman.
Maybe I’ll become a bot killer. We know there will be bots in low level zones and I’ll make it my mission to grief as many bots as I can regularly.
@@johngear1415 HELL YEA!! That sounds dope! My first character will be racing tot 60, so i'l do whatever means to get there, but after that all my toons will be SSF as well. love that aspect.
@@CrixGuides personally I was really hoping for instant mail unlocked on these servers. I’d sacrifice auction house for that. 😅
@@johngear1415isn’t that gonna be non consensual pvp if you target those poor hard working bots? XD
you're great to watch when mitch is in the same raid!
I finally decided to try WoW. And I chose WOTLK classic as my first taste of the game. Im playing an undead rogue and I've died SO many times. Im nearing the end of my 1st week in the game at lvl 40 and I would ragequit forever if I lost my character.I cant even begin to imagine losing a high level char in HC...
Yeah it's wild. It's pretty easy to die in the open world, but that's the fun of it IMO! Welcome to WoW my friend. I sincerely hope you're enjoying it!
Great work dude! When do you think Blizzard will drop the live servers?
I'm thinking the end of August!
I saw you in a hardcore death montage lol.
delog has a nice feture where it maps out deaths on maps.
Got a fire mage to 49 on blood sail bucs. Just never finished it. I’ll go again on official fo sho. Maybe get a Druid or rouge too. Getting pumped! Great vid bud!
Thanks and good luck! I have some toons on BsB as well and unsure if I want to finish them or not
How to not die in a game that doesn’t allow you to die: Just don’t die
Stonewatch has mobs that will aggro right through the walls in the back courtyard.
Would love to know what add-ons you're using for your UI frames and name plates and action bar
Can someone link me the discord server the link doesn’t work and I can’t find it. Thanks.
There's a typo in the orange text at 13:55.
Never used rogues Gouge as cast stopping tool on a mobs, learned it the hard way 😂
verry good explained thx for all your effort
No problem! Thanks for watching
@CrixGuides Do you have any pull on the Hardcore addon?
I have an idea to enhance it. I have mentioned it to several people involved, all have loved the idea, but it still has not been added after many many months.
What's the idea!!??
Iv never really played classic but every since hard core was a thing iv enjoyed playing it and im having a blast but i cant wait for official
One argument that I don't understand is this: "You will use spells and abilities you wouldn't normally use."
Well it's Hard Core ok. So we absolutely do not want to die.
So we will use every ability possible not to die.
But Not Dying has for the most part *always* been the goal. There is no situation in Vanilla Classic where you would rather die than not (Excepting stupid glitches and abuses of dying to fast travel)
So what changed?
One particular example: "Warlocks will use curses that you would never use in Vanilla"
I disagree!
I'm gonna try and recruit an IRL friend, my son or (perhaps) my wife to do a duo. Warrior pala or warrior shaman.
@Funkapotamus levelling a warrior has an unforgiving levelling process regardless, the reason why it’s got a high survivability to 60 is because of those wanting that true hardcore challenge. Let’s not pretend warrior is somehow easier to level based off that stat lol.
Nice Vid!
Thanks!
On what server and faction do u want to do the record runs?
Alliance and on the HC server

Damn is that Heero Yuy as your profile pic? Love it
Nah it's Warlock Tier from TBC , but wil my face on it. lol@@gostreiver8036
Timestamp: 12:24 I'm a noob... What's a logout skip?
I really don't understand all the hate kargoz gets
The dude is the father of this entire game mode and community, if not for him we would have nothing.
Good Luck!
The a & d trick! I was wondering how people could walk aways always facing ennemies!!!! Thanks!
Just a general question on SSF? Why does equipping quest rewards or mob drops count against it? Is there an achievement on the addon that allows it?
"Because I said so" - SSF addon admin
@@Myrrden I think I found it, "scavenger" might be what I'm looking for
If you're SSF, you can still equip quest items and mob drops. You can use anything you find! Just have to find it alone. Lol
@CrixGuides the self-made starting achievement states "no items bought, dropped, or rewarded by quests are allowed to be equipped".
Hell yeah! Dope clip! I never thought to use the dummies like that my guy! I'll fix the link asap when I get on my PC! Big cheers
You still going to follow the old HC rules like no trading etc for new blizz servers?
A lot of these I already do without doing hardcore mode because I'm already a very cautious player.
Honnestly after alost 8 years of not playin WoW... i think im finally gonna come back!
WELCOME BACK!!!
Tip #1: Have a good internet. Sucks to do everything right only to die to DC
Great video!
EVERY class?! You madman! 😂
It's going to be hard. Especially since I've really only ever played Warlock/Mage/Rogue lol. But should be fun
After paying sod and hardcore i don't think i can go back to just normal classic anymore
just lost my fourth character and im looking for motivation to start a new one. what have I gotten myself into?!
U Always talking about the auction house. But it’s disabled?
You can use it on the official HC server, but us SSF players won't be using it
what UI frames addon are you using
Line of sight avoids dont work for me... they hit me through the stone or the wall
Can’t count how many times a potion actually saved my ass
"How not to die in hardcore"
- some random rogue: he-he-he, that fool has plans
this helped me a lot
Will you make an addon video for official servers after they go up?
yep! I will!
Can we trasnfer to a PVP server after we die on HC?
I just died to a disconnect.
Has to be one of the worst ways to go out - as there‘s nothing I could have done to avoid it.
F
I'm still umming and ahhhing about trying this out. If I do, I'll probably only try once - unless I really have a massive change of heart (and I might) - so I need to pick my class very carefully.
I don't want to be boring and play Hunter (my current main), so I'm thinking something I've never done before. Like Priest. I might casually play, join promising looking dungeon groups and take it slow.
Do it! Priest is one of the safest clases too. Would be fun.
Priest is boring because all mobs you will kill is shadow pain dot + wand. Mage is alot of fun imo.
lol sc scrub
How can i see enemy plates further than 20 yrd? Any idea?
Do not forget about cure poison potions from first aid
