1: Casinos determine whether your counting cards based on the accuracy of your play to the deck's count.. Which staying on a 10 and an 8 (as separate hands) would be mistake. 2: doesn't matter if it's legal or not, she's being thrown off that table since the pit boss doesn't like her.
They determine it by your betting patterns. When the deck is hot you increase your bets 3 to 5 times. When it's cold you bet low. But demonstrating that would be too slow for a TV show.

No, card counting is not "illegal" But a casino is a private enterprise and the house may determine who may or may not stay on the premises, within the law.
The only part of this thats unlikely is the free tickets lol usually they just tell suspected counters their play is too good for the casino and tell them they can play anything but blackjack. Everyone knows counting is legal when its done manually, they just ban you from the tables.
My late husband was counting cards at a river casino. We were visited several times by management to let us know that they knew. It was not a problem for the casino at that time because the excitement of him winning was making more people play.
it's a cheap way to get you to leave. tickets to a show already in progress just to get you off the table without making a scene

That is why casinos and bookmakers cannot be in red. They keep those who lose and throw out those who can take their money. It's unfair, but the law is on their side.

"how can i hide the fact that i'm counting cards, i know i'll stand on a 10 and an 8" loooool
Hollywood perpetuates the myth that card counting somehow means the player knows exactly what the next card will be.
The most accurate thing about this clip is the casino giving her comps. If a player is dumb enough to not double down on a ten when the dealer is showing a five, then the casino will want to keep them around as long as possible.
Being bad at math apparently relaxes her.
100%. Nobody counting cards will play their hands this way. Hollywood. Deck presumably had a true count of more low cards, the most that would have changed are doubling decisions. The math will never favor standing on an unbustable hand and nobody knows what exact order the cards will come out.
@@coachk2450 if you're a counter you know better than to presume the count. I agree with the rest you said though. Also shuffle tracking is a real skill and some are amazing at it and can predict cards. I fell into its rabbit hole on the forums one night
Counting cards isn't illegal but trespassing is, which is why in real life when they know you're counting cards they'll tell you to leave. As soon as they do you have to leave or you're trespassing.
They still legally have to pay you out before making you leave though. Since they are withholding your property (the money you are owed via the casino chips), they can't make you leave till you're paid out.
If a casino refuses to pay you out while trying to kick you out, call the cops and file a report with the state gambling boards. Most of the time the cops in those areas will side with the gambler to keep the peace, and know the law with how these casino's try to pull these stunts.
Casino's can't just ban you without paying you out. Plain and simple.

People do not understand how counting cards works. First, it has nothing to do with math or being a genius. With some practice anyone could do it. Second, you don't automatically start winning. You just gain a very slight edge over the casino, which could be exploited if you had endless time and money.

There are no distracting TVs in any casino.

That dealer was as unprofessional as it gets. I was a dealer in the pit.
