Said it to you already, but I'm real glad I tuned in for this stream specifically. Way to go dude; this is such an awe inspiring time in this game! GG!
Coming here after SummoningSalt tweeted about this, I just gotta say congrats man. What a legendary run. The mix of incredible skill and insanely good RNG is truly nuts to see. What a well-deserved record, simply magnificent!
This reminds me of a baseball pitcher throwing a perfect game. The banter goes away at the start of special circuit, like a pitcher who’s perfect after 7 innings.
Bro that body counter in phase two was INSANE. Your cat trying to distract you, your friends chirping, and you hit that one frame behind perfect and it’s a fricking body counter. I thought Nick was gonna throw one more punch but holy crap every time the game tried to throw you off you were one step ahead. This record might stand for the rest of our lifetime. FatPotatoSeal’s run was only marginally better than this thanks to a no dodge Hoy but that pace is gonna take years to reach again. Congrats you truly are awesome, Andy. 💪⚔️
Honestly I almost wonder if it helped him. It might keep him relaxed and casual, there have been other good runs ruined at the end because the player thinks "oh wow this is a good run, this is my chance to do it, don't screw up don't screw up don't screw up" and they get nervous and it throws off their timing.
@@bobdonda Yeah I think the no punch luck on Nick gave Andy a bit more freedom to finish him off instead of having to land a counter just get it done with two supers and lose .2 seconds whoop de doo it’s either 2:28.79 or 2:28.52 right? Either way Andy and anyone else who ever gets under 2:30 is goated for life.
Wow he SHATTERED the previous WR! Shaving over four seconds off this speedrun is basically lapping the field. Getting the necessary RNG and then executing flawlessly for a run like this is almost impossible. Congrats dude, you're a legend.
Yeah, I think the TAS record is about 2:16, so the previous record was about 16 seconds off theoretical perfect; he just took off a quarter of that in one run.
You deserve this record. After all the grind and frustration it really pays off. GG Andy. You're deadass one of the most legendary punch-out players and your performance has been top notch for the past year.
I don’t know what else to say but congratulations. After all the specials that got stalled, you finally managed the god run. I can say no one deserved it more than you Andy. This run was legendary and will probably be at the top for years to come. Once again I say my congrats to you, Awesomeandy: the king of Super Punch Out speedrunning.
Just had to see this for myself. I watched the summoning salt video (again) and got curious if anybody had crazy luck again. And oh boy, what a treat this was. Congrats on still holding this record over a year later!
Legendary Andy.. just watched Summoning Salts documentary on the progression of the world record.... then found this gem, congrats mate, unreal effort, stars aligned, hope you hold the record for years
Comparing the times here to what is the theoretically best times achieved by tool-assist (TAS here: ua-cam.com/video/_U_8yeQtra8/v-deo.html ), the best times and gaps on each fight are: Gabby Jay: 6.26 -> .00 (frame-perfect) Bear Hugger: 12.92 -> .73 Piston Hurricane: 5.49 -> .00 (frame perfect) Bald Bull: 8.24 -> .26 Bob Charlie: 5.50 -> .45 Dragon Chan: 7.30 -> 1.49 Masked Muscle: 6.30 -> .92 Mr. Sandman: 13.13 -> .26 Aran Ryan: 8.45 -> .41 Heike Kagero: 9.94 -> .73 Mad Clown: 9.01 -> .63 Super Machoman: 9.43 -> 1.07 Narcis Prince: 8.20 -> 1.89 Hoy Quarlow: 8.35 -> .68 Rick Bruiser: 10.65 -> .76 Nick Bruiser: 7.52 -> 1.78 I’m not that familiar with this game, so it’s hard to analyze what the differences are in terms of luck vs execution vs strategy and what can be improved, but I do notice a few things based on the Summoning Salt video (Dragon Chan cost some with the slow heal, Hoy did duck once, Narcis was probably messing around a lot). Not sure about some of the other big differences like Muscle or Machoman, but the TAS definitely seemed to use a different strategy for Nick Bruiser.
There is a very good reason there is a different nick strategy for full runs the execution isn't bad only 2 frame perfects but requires 3.4% rng for the tas strat ^_^
A giant W dude. Punch Out speedruns are some of the greatest speedrunning communities in the world, and holding the title of "Fastest World Record of Super Punch Out" is one giant title to hold... Your reaction when you kicked Nick's ass at the end was beautiful, keep up the good work.
I just watched summoning salt video and been binging his vids and checking new records after each video and this has to be the most intense one I've gg well played and deserved
I didn’t believe the notification when I had gotten it, but you actual legend. You ACTUAL legend. You’re my most respected Punch-Out creator, if anyone could have done it, it was you. You just set a possibly unbeatable record. Someone getting Summoning Salt in here!
@@Awosomeandy Haha, awesome. Yeah, I have notifs on for you so when I got the notification that you got sub 30sec I was like “ain’t no way”. Massive well done! I’m really tired rn so i’m gonna watch the clip in the morning. Good job man, you have a world record now. I can imagine you’re about to get popular pretty quickly, so if you do remember meeeeee
I get such a kick out of the fact that Bear Hugger and Mr. Sandman no matter what, STILL take the longest to knock out compared to ever other boxer. Almost like Sandman should've been the final boxer to fight in this game like he is (sort of) in Wii and in the 1st arcade game.
Great world record! And a hefty improvement when looking at your PB before setting this record. Got more interested in Super Punch Out after SummongSalts video and I guess that's true when this landed at near the top of my recommendations.
Craziest thing about this run is that the luck is immense, with SummoningSalt stating that FPS' 2:27 pace run was at least 1 in 150,000. It all lined up, and you got both Nick counters to get a 2:28. Adelikat's TAS is 12 seconds faster, less than 1 second on average to be saved per fight. I don't know how long it will take for the next WR to be achieved. I can see a similar run with no Hoy ducks taking another second-ish off, but that's about it
You can get a history making SPO world record while coughing and sniffling into your controller meanwhile when I'm sick I just lie in bed and wait for death to take me.
To be honest I feel like Nintendo planned this, considering all the animations the fighters make. I’ve played thru super punch out manyyyy times and never seen these animations lol
good shit man gg
Said it to you already, but I'm real glad I tuned in for this stream specifically. Way to go dude; this is such an awe inspiring time in this game! GG!
ty zallard! it's really fuckin surreal lol
You're a great hit man
I remember when you guys beated the sub 2:40 mark, now this?! GG dude
Coming here after SummoningSalt tweeted about this, I just gotta say congrats man. What a legendary run. The mix of incredible skill and insanely good RNG is truly nuts to see. What a well-deserved record, simply magnificent!
Them words are real. " I don't have to play this effing game anymore". Imagine how many hours this dude put in. Lol . Congrats
it's a great game though xD
16:08 the raw emotion is awesome. This is why people speedrun
was introduced to this game from the summoningsalt vid and holy shit this is impressive. congrats man
ty!
This reminds me of a baseball pitcher throwing a perfect game. The banter goes away at the start of special circuit, like a pitcher who’s perfect after 7 innings.
Watched summoning salts vid a few times, this seems monumental. Many congratulations, great achievement

9/10 for the run, 10/10 for the banter
After played Super Punch-Out I can feel the emotions that this game can generate, and also congratulations on this WR!
came a long way from that sub 10 first pb. GG Andy, a massively deserved milestone, the last ever 10 second barrier in spo!
12 minute pb best pb

I can’t see any room for improvement really, WOW.
Keeping it together during the Nick fight seems insane, so happy I eventually found this video. You're an actual legend.
Finally, the Super Punch-Out!! speedrun have a happy ending.

Absolute mad man goes pee and plays with cat while rolling .002% odds and succeeds.
Over 1 year later and you’re still the only person to have ever achieved a -2:30 on this game, an absolutely amazing thing to witness
16:50 INCREDIBLE WORLD RECORD!! I WAS CHEERING TOO!!

Absolutely disgusting run dude I'm so happy for you man
I can't help but find funny that some speedcubing references got into the greatest Super Punch-Out accomplishment ever.
I can feel the Summoning Salt Update Video Calling your Name. COngrats
Insane time.. that's gotta be a WR forever! 😍
Imagine if summoningsalt updated his super punch out video with this moment
probably wont because he doesn't generally do that but he tweeted about it which was very kind of him
"I don't have to play this game anymore!"
>Months later, 2 Player Dev mode comes out
All right.
2 player mode is overrated :v
Crazy that you got this amazing run while sick as shit. Good work, Andy.

“Let’s make history”
You badass.
