    This song was so well put together many people missed the message, and he even says “y’all don’t wanna hear me” because he knew. The instrumental of it was also designed in a very unique way, that instead of following the normal pattern, he changed it up to keep you hanging on. Most songs build up, peak, then come back down to end, he had his build up, peak, then repeatedly set up for the come down, but peaked over and over in the instrumental.

    • @nathanhargenrader645
      @nathanhargenrader645 3 роки тому +9

      Yes that’s part of the message but that is honestly missing the point. People take this song as being happy but if you listen to Andre’s verses up to the “you don’t want to hear me” he is talking about how pointless relationships are and how people essentially pretend to be happy when they aren’t, and implies this was true even for his own parents. Then he says you don’t want to hear me and moves on to a much more upbeat tone. He knew people wouldn’t listen to actual message of the song.

    My Good sir andre got you. The point of this song was to sound happy and articulate and deeper darker message that andre knew would be overlooked because of the vibe of the song. At like 4:06 you say it's a fun song listen to the words starting there up to 4:42. You'll see what I'm saying. The bar ends with him literary saying "why are we so in denial when we know we're not happy here, y'all dont really hear me you just want to dance" lol Andre big brain.

We were military for the last 25 years, and this song when it came out was one of the ones we would play a lot and the whole van would be rocking! Speakerboxxx/The Love Below was only the second hip hop album to ever win the Grammy for album of the year. It’s a brilliant album. As are all of their albums. Andre 3k is my all time favorite MC. Going way back, to their first album ATaliens. Andre is a true original, a true legend, a true poet, a true musical and lyrical genius. Miss him on the scene so much. Still, I never give up hoping that someday he will return with new music, and bless us with his gift again.

    The message of illusions... an illusion of love fueled by lust.
    The illusion of worthiness fueled by greed and idolatry...

    This song is one of those earworm songs in that you hear it and it stays in your brain all day. One of many fantastic songs on Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. And the video is one of my favorites. It's a play on both The Beatles appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show and Paul McCartney's Coming Up video from his 1980 McCartney II album. In that video McCartney plays all of the members of the band (except for the 2 his wife plays). In it McCartney is pretending to be real musical artists in each character he portrays.
