Started binging on archery videos again and I can totally relate to Jim's disdain towards brass nocks. Used to love them at first, but they ate up so many of my gloves that I ended up swearing them off. Glad to see Jim making content again.
Love the grizzly Jim videos. They helped me learn to shoot. I hadn’t seen him around and thought he was gone! Glad to see he’s still around and making videos.

BTW, I have wasted a lot of time trying to recreate your release. Have come to the conclusion that you are using some sort of camera trickery.

When a bowyer builds a bow. The finish detail on his limb tips. Shows his attension to fine detail. I like classic limb nock tips.

I've got a Slick Stick and I love it. Mine is a bit twangy too, but it's fast, and my friends have dubbed it the Noisy Cricket lol!
Enjoyed your review, glad to see you are back to making vids! I have a couple of the 60" Slick Sticks, 35# and 50#, in my small collection of bows. The 35# is probably my most shot bow, and I'm shooting an arrow 530 grains, with my 32" draw. The bow is quite calm with that combo. Thanks for your excellent review and other vids!

Compared to the same size Quick Stick and almost the same price, which one would you go for having 30,5“ draw?
Love it absolutely a fantastic looking bow. I would have to agree I’m not a fan at all of brass knocks.

The other issue I had from my early year's with brass nocking points were that often they'd have a sharp bit that would eat my tab to shreds. What do other people use instead? I use a different colour serving material, but I know many club mates use dental floss.
When I use them I always take a small file and round off the sharp bits once it's on the string. With care of course.
Jim, your doing good I see with more videos. I agree about the limb tips, nothing looks any worst then nice riser, limbs then you get to the limb tips and it looks like the bowyer stuck a wad of bubble gum on the end. Can't wait to see more reviews hope all is well with you and yours thank you.

I shoot a 40# (roughly 45# at my draw length) Quick Stick and it slings 500 spine GT with authority. After about 50 arrows, the twanginess dropped away.
100% with you on the brass devils. My nose gets enough string slice with tied on nocks.
Greetings from Ontario canada, I personally shoot a bodnik slik stik 50 #@28", but my draw is a little more, started shooting 500 spline arrows, up from 400 when I first got my bow, these arrows are very accurate, n, quick, it's my go to bow n arrow set up, n, I don't use a quiver on the bow, or any silencers, I think it takes away some bow performance, but that's just my opinion only, it took me a little while to get used to how fast this bow shoots, but it's all good now, lol, luv this bow, shakyjake out.

I find brass nocks are helpful for tuning. Once you have the proper nock height I tie an upper and lower nock. I'm not sure why but r/d longbows always seem to zip arrows, even compared to recurves, it defies physics.

conclusion
for 3D, from 10 to 30 meters, shooting with a 30# (33 @ 29") is enough with 800 spine profiled arrows (it's what i use)
more confort, more time to ancher, more precision and...

Jim I'm a longbow (afb)shooter In competition I have to use wood arrows (Ifaa rules). Could you recommend any wood arrows that can group like a set of carbon arrows my 20 yard group with carbon is about 2inch (predator 2) my wood arrows on my best day is about 4 to 6 inches help appreciated.
Well that's a big ask James 😅
But it you want that kind of accuracy and consistency out of wooden shafts, you will really need to put the time in and weight and spine match them to OCD levels of perfection, and that just for starters. Good luck buddy!

Hi from Downunder! I bought one of these in 45# off you guys couple of months ago.
I tried it with the stock standard whisper string that it comes with, and very quickly took that off and replaced it with a b55 string.
The bow settled down very nicely, a lot quieter, and is becoming a real tack driver.
Really love everything about this bow.
I was contemplating the Quick Stick, but couldn't afford the extra $250 or so.
In your opinion, is the Quick Stick worth the extra money? What advantages does it have over the Hunter Stick? I imagine it shoots a bit quicker with the carbon layer in the limbs, but does it make that much of a difference?
Apparently, the Stabilcore in the Hunter Stick makes it more forgiving with torque etc, so Im really loving that!
But if, in your opinion, the Quick Stick is actually better all round, then Im just gona have to save up and buy one.
My wife doesn't understand this logic, but she's female, so...
This probably will not help you but I have the 2015 Quickstick, Rosewood / Bubinga riser with bamboo limbs and it is a fantastic bow. I have 5 but it's by far my favoured bow. However the new Quickstick is upgraded with a carbon layer as you mention and different woods (more sustainable) for riser.

I noticed that you placed the cock feather in and out during the one set at the boar. It didn't seem to affect accuracy much. Your thoughts?
ahhh you noticed ;)
normally I tend to shoot cock feather in. I could weave you a beautiful tale about how it gives me better clearance... But in reality, when it comes to feathers it doesn't really make much difference at all. It just gets folks to notice ;)
