Tony Dow, You gave me a lot of pleasure in your show leave it to Beaver. I'm rewatching it now @ 70 years old. Takes me back to my childhood, both my parents are deceased now and I lost my 19 year old son 33 years ago. I wish the world was like it was back when I was a child. Your show reminds me of those happier times in my life. I know you are deceased now and I'm so sorry your no longer among us. But you gave so much pleasure to so many of us when you played wally in leave it to beaver. Thank You Tony Dow (WALLY) Rest in peace.
Sounds so familiar to me at 68 I lost my only child 9 years ago. A 24 year old boy that I think about daily. Leave it to Beaver reminds me of my childhood too and I watch it every day as I have a little brother 3 years younger in real life and I can really relate to each episode. Our parents were a lot like Ward and June and we often called them that. RIP Tony Dow and thank you for being you. Amazing how this show is still watched worldwide by millions of viewers.
Leave it to Beaver will still be on air 100 years from now. Shows back then had class. A family show for all ages unlike some of today's (in my opinion).
I'm with you. This is why I do not watch today's television anymore. I go back and watch shows that came out way before I came along because they are wholesome and so good.
Leave it to Beaver was in a class by itself, no other show back then solely revolved around the kids. The writers and cast did it well and gave us an endearing show.
I've started watching LITB at night when I'm going to bed and I love it because all the old sitcoms are just so comforting. But since I've started watching it, I've realized that Wally is just about my favorite character, he is hilarious. I love how it was so clean, and they had such respect for their parents. Those were such sweet times.
Leave it to beaver Jerry matters Tony Dow good sitcom ward June cleaver 💡📽️🎬👐 great growing up with them as a child watch still to this day📺 on me tv 📺 be safe 🌏 🧤😷 classic Legends 5🌟⭐⭐⭐⭐👍♥️
The reruns of the show was a big part of my childhood in the 1980s. Ward and June cleaver were almost like a second set of parents that I learned a lot of good values from watching the show, and I still watch the show to this day.
Wonderful to hear. Pass it on to your kids if you haven't already! These kind of shows need to be watched by this generation if they would give it a chance!
I am 75 years old. "Leave it to Beaver," along with the many other TV classics were an influential part of the early years of my generation. There was a sense of decency about these shows, a promotion of good values, character, integrity. While real life, even in the fifties, was not perfect, Hollywood at least tried to present a good face, with positive role models. Later on, as we all have witnessed, Hollywood went for the controversial, grungy, tasteless, crude type of humor. If it weren't for reruns, we would be stuck with the crap that reflects Hollywood values today, and TV would remain the wasteland it has strived to be.
Wally Cleaver really epitomized the roll of a big brother. A talented actor who had the skill to transport a person watching reruns in the new milmillennium, to late 50s, early 60s suburbs. Great talent by any standard.
Tony Dow shows exactly what he is, -a real nice guy. Most of the child actors on that show were treated well because all of them, came out of it ok. An example is "Eddie Haskel" was a highly decorated LA police man.
I saw Tony Dow in a gas station years ago in Santa Monica gassing up his Porsche and almost died! He was still dreamy but I just lost my voice! I couldn't say a thing! I so regret just not saying Gee, Wally! Years ago my sister and I drove past the Beaver's house in Santa Clarita and he was out mowing his lawn! My visiting niece almost lost her mind!
@@susansquier2435 I stood very close to singer Harry Chapin and was too shy to speak with him. Years letter his brother performed in upstate NY. I had the pleasure of meeting and talking with him!! I mentioned how shy I was and wish I had spoken to Harry. I actually saw him twice. Being a secretary at our local college I am sure someone would have arranged a meet and greet. Anyway, Tom said he loved his fans and posed for photos, etc. and probably would have asked me to dinner! Since that happened several years ago, I am not afraid to speak if opportunity arises to meet them. I have met and talked with several stars over the years. Very fond memories 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I just watched the re-runs of the first THREE seasons of "Leave It To Beaver!" I absolutely adore this show...so entertaining and wholesome. Every character is wonderful, but I really loved Wally! He's STILL cute!
My husband and I have them all recorded. Just because we loved the Cleavers!!! It comes on at 3am and those of us who have trouble sleeping...😀😉 RIP Tony. You sure filled my childhood with great memories! ❤❤🌹🌹
R.I.P... Tony Dow. I'm still a fan of your TV show, Leave It To Beaver. With all the fast pace shows and way of the world, this show still gives me peace. Love you and Jerry Mathers in the original Leave it to Beaver. A true classic. You will always be remembered as an actor , artists and a great human being.
As a 81 year old I still like to watch reruns of the LITB show and now I will be sad thinking that Tony Dow is no longer with us. RIP Tony you will be missed but not forgotten. Sincere sympathy to his family and friends. He left the world a better place.
Leave It To Beaver is a great show, this was a great interview - Tony Dow's voice sounds exactly the same as when he was a teen on the show! Thanks, MeTV for showing it every morning!
Ward cleaver reminded me so much of my dad he would let you have it when you needed it but at the end of the day he had your back! This was a wonderful show about family!
Wally and beaver are soooo cute!! I love watching this show!! It reminds me of the times when young men and children and adults still believed in good morals and principles!! I wish they would make more shows like this one in our days!!Tony still has the aura of a good and really kind person until this day!1 Such a beautiful man!!
Tony is one hell of a nice guy, I had met him about 10 years or so ago at Comic-con in Novi, Michigan at the Detroit Motor City Convention..My brothers and I talked to him for about 45 minutes..My brother lent him his cell phone and he made a surprise phone call to our mother, she almost fainted talking to Tony, LOL..Later on at a different Comic-con in Novi a couple of years later we had also met Frank Bank (Lumpy) and Ken Osmond (Eddie Haskell) two awesome guys as well..R.I.P Frank Bank..I still enjoy watching re-runs of Leave It To Beaver every morning on ME-TV..
Heart warming. My encounter with Mr. Tony D is significantly less. Are you sitting down? Several years ago I was in an AM/PM where I realized Tony was in a line to pay after getting gas. I love Wally so much but was unprepared to meet him and didn't think it appropriate to call attention to him in line.
One of my favorite episodes was when Beaver lost his hair-cut money and then tried to cut his own hair. It was a mess! Then Beaver persuaded Wally to help him clean up the haircut so that their parents wouldn't find out. Wally made the haircut even worse. So the two boys decided to wear stocking-cap hats to hide their antics and said it was a club initiation.
That’s my favorite episode too. Ward thinks the boys had an adventure in the woods the first morning but they found a town and had burgers and bought comic books. It was great that at the end Ward thought they should all head back home but the boys finally did discover some imaginative fun and begged to stay. Great episode Mr. Dow!
I had a crush on Wally when the show first aired and I still do! Wally is my all time favourite child character...Tony is still as handsome as ever, great interview! Thanks for posting it
it is very sad to see a man who had gracefully aged and was really happy. he seemed so good and healthy. he never lost thev essence of Wally and a good spirit. bless you !!
Well Wally & the cast may not have been looking for laughs but like him I rarely laugh at sitcoms but I laughed the most at Wally’s comebacks. He had some of the best lines and the show showed his natural ability.
I love how mom is always dressed to the nines, hair and makeup always picture perfect. And don't forget Mrs. Cleaver was also the lady who spoke jive in the movie Airplane.
I love Leave it to Beaver! Wally was great! I started watching LITB about a year ago so never say that todays society would not like it. I think we crave family shows, LITB was like no other. Great interview :)
It always saddens me that every time there's a UA-cam video or any other reference to Leave It To Beaver that my old childhood buddy Stan "Whitey" Fafara is left out. Stan and I were inseparable from ages 12 to 14. We attended a private Lutheran school in North Hollywood from 1962 to 1964. I was the only kid in that small school who never called him "Whitey", I always called him Stan or Stanley. He appreciated that, and so he and I bonded. A few times the Leave It To Beaver episodes were filmed in the huge park across the street from our school and Stan would invite me (only me) to hang around the set. I got to meet all the key actors, including Jerry and Tony. After Stan and I left that small Lutheran School in June of 1964 we went to different high schools so we fell out of contact. We were only 14 years old so we couldn't drive yet which made it impossible for us to stay connected. Decades later I learned that Stan started hanging out with Paul Revere and the Raiders (one of the groups who opened for the Stones in 1965 in Anaheim, the first of many Stones concerts I attended) and he got into booze and drugs. Sadly not an uncommon thing for child actors abandoned by Hollywood. Then in 2004 I learned that Stan had died in 2003 in obscurity and poverty up in some Oregon town, and that he was buried in an unmarked pauper's grave. I wish that Tony and Jerry would honor Stan's memory and contribution to Leave It To Beaver. Stan was a good kid, very sweet, very vulnerable.
Greg Erickson me to before that the Beverly hillbillies then later gunsmoke and wagon train but beaver moves me the most that family just love them all I'm 67
His lines were the best part of the show and Barbara’s reactions to them are just as classic. Surprised such a good looking man spent more years off screen , behind the camera. You’re still rocking it Tony ! We watch at least 2 episodes a day.
This show gets mocked a lot but it really shows what childhood is like through the eyes of little boys. It is still a favorite of kids today. It's timeless!
What a SUPER classy guy. Even as a young man actor. I fondly remember the camping episode. There's SO MANY of them I would call favorites. The amusement park trip. Cocky Eddie Haskell ending up terrified on that roller coaster. I think I need to find the entire series on DVD. The show ended the year after I was born but saw it repeatedly all the years afterwards. Sincerest condolences to the Dow family. Rest in Peace with Barbara, Hugh, Frank and the other guys who have gone on. I think Stanley among others. You'll be missed Tony.
I grew up watching the show on TV. Something special about those days. So many fond memories. I was born in 1945. Grew up in Southern California. Saw quite a few TV and movie actors in various spots around LA and Long Beach.
Wally reminds me so much of my oldest son and now his son. I love love love this show. Makes your heart warm for another time. Wish they had done right by the actors
Tony was a very nice guy. We enjoyed talking to him at Fanboy in Knoxville, Tennessee several years ago. I always loved watching Leave it to Beaver. RIP Tony.
There were a lot of lessons to be learned about life from that show. that is what I really like about it and always have. I am about 8 months younger than Jerry Mather and I remember that show very well. My kids have watched it and some of my grand kids as well. I think it was the best show of that type on TV back then and better that the trash sitcoms on TV for the past 20 years or more.
It show a how much life has changed. Started with computers and now all electronic. I am guilty of too much screen time... and they phone let’s you know.
What a great guy total class i had the pleasure of meeting Jerry at a Wal-mart i work at in Valencia just as nice humble God bless both of you thanks for the Memories
Epitome of a Boy to Man Born in 1960 the Andy Griffith and leave it to Beaver show are my all-time favorite he will be sorely missed I am incredibly devastated to hear of his death my condolences to his family I can only imagine😭🌹 He will never be forgotten
I watch two episodes of Leave It To Beaver daily. I started from the beginning and now we are in 1959 and moving along. It is so nice seeing a show I heard about but never viewed until now. I am addicted to this show now and learn something new with each episode.
What a great interview with Tony! I’ve rewatched this many times! He seems like a very down-to-Earth guy who you’d like to go out to lunch with and talk to! Thank you for posting the interview!
Here in albuquerque...tony lives on early each morning on ME tv....forever Wally!! Be well family and thank you for the happy tv memories, not only for us your peers, but for our grand and gr-grandchildren. NM
I've lived through many of my favorite TV stars passing...John Ritter, Robert Reed, Florence Henderson, etc. They were all sad in their own way but Tony Dow's death has really brought me down. I don't remember ever getting this emotional over an actor/actress death. It's almost like I knew him but we never met. It's hard to explain.
Thanks for posting. I remember the original series when I was a tween. I am now watching reruns on Me TV and enjoying them very much. Quality abounded in this show from the writing to the acting to the directing. Ah, nostalgia -- therapeutic in every way.
I grew up watching Tony, Jerry, Barbara and Hugh. At 68 years old now I still watch them with my coffee and enjoy them as much as I did in the early 1960s
As a kid at 8 yrs of age, I watched "Leave It to Beaver" and it was my favorite show--and it still is. Of course, I now have favorites like "Breaking Bad", "The Sopranos", "The Office", etc. but there's something special about Leave It to Beaver. Now I watch it daily on Xfinity's new Peacock streaming service.
Richard Basciano his friend Gilbert said it was real soup in the bowl and of course he dared Beaver to climb to prove it wasn’t calling him chicken. I think it was Whitey who talked him into making the face in the photo.
Rest in Peace, Tony Dow. You were loved by audiences across the country.

Like brothers I never had but only seen on t v !
The new movie did not include original characters in except Barbera bilingsly why only her don't know
Saddened by the passing today of Tony Dow. He was an amazing artist in his later years. He will be missed.
He’s so humble. Love this guy. He was a part of all of our childhoods!

Yeah he just got better & better.
Very charming man. Too bad he's gone. RIP #WALLY".

"Leave It To Beaver" was my all time favorite show from childhood. To this day I never grow tired of watching it! It is a classic!
Same with me. -- Richard

Well said!!!! Definitely changed definition of good role models!
Absolute. Our grandsons love to watch the oldies
yeah right - especially the all white cast members! God forbid they would ever have black and browns in the cast.

Pretty good interviewer. Tony Dow was also a junior Olympic diving champion, and a great athlete.

Every single episode of LITB is pure magic!
Tony Dow should have his own show. He's cool.
I watch "Leave It To Beaver" every day, "on Tubi". His voice never changed.

Tony and Jerry are such nice guys. I still watch the show on a regular basis. It was a family I guess some of us wish we had.
For sure we all do!!
He is a just such a nice guy. There is such a sincere affection between Tony and Jerry, the man is a class act.
Such a HUGE crush on Wally. Born in 62 I watched and LOVED the reruns.❤️ I so wanted to believe their family existed.

That is it in a nutshell. They were that good we believed a place like the Mayfield, and the Cleavers.

I say stick with the original show can't
Improve on "perfect" !!!! Just
Love that show !!
Love the interview with Tony Dow and Jerry Mathers. Im 65 and I still love the show and I laughed here and there. In fact Im watching it now
RIP, Tony. We loved you as Wally Cleaver and the roles you played after!
I love “Leave it to Beaver” and all the actors and actresses. I will watch it again and again. Especially Wally and Beaver.
Tony Dow is so humble just like Wally Cleaver
Still a cutie.
He is Wally Cleaver. He was just playing himself.
His passing hit me like no other celebrity's passing, I lost the brother I never had, R.I.P. Tony 💔
What a nice guy Tony is ! The stardom never went to his head. Hope Jerry and Tony have many more years of reunions.
Great interview! I love his voice!!! ❤ It's great seeing Tony Dow!!!!

This show gets mocked a lot but it really shows what childhood is like through the eyes of little boys. It is still a favorite of kids today. It's timeless!
@@whitehorseentertainment6019 thank you, my heart sank. May God bless him, he was my older brother also.
I will miss Tony Dow greatly! He was just a good person, it's that simple.
Damn, wally, you have beautiful grey hair.
Wally is giving the interviewer the "business".
@ Thanks Jesse for recognizing I'm a jerk. :) -- Richard

@@Sidewalkstvshow - Really enjoyed this. You did a fine job. Great interview. Thanks 👍
Tony is one of few people in Hollywood that is real down to earth people I watch the reruns all the time
He scratched his head like Wally always did on the show. Love it!
My absolute favorite was Leave It To Beaver! 💕
Epitome of a Boy to Man
Born in 1960 the Andy Griffith and leave it to Beaver show are my all-time favorite
he will be sorely missed I am incredibly devastated to hear of his death my condolences to his family I can only imagine😭🌹
He will never be forgotten
What a shiny baby Wally was!!! Such the gentleman and charming. i'm blown away man but my life wouldnt have been the same without LITB.
Best show ever!
This show and others similar to this one are what good quality shows we're back then.
We love you Tony
Leave it to Beaver...More than 60 years ago, and I was there to see when they first aired.
Excellent interview. Thanks. Wally was my favorite LITB character. Still enjoy him and all the other cast of characters on DVD pretty regularly.
Thank you on the comment about the interview. It was a joy to interview him. -- Richard
Yes Glenn, I laughed the most at Wally’s lines. He delivered them perfectly. A really good actor.
@@suestephan3255 Agree 100%.
"Zombies from Outer Space"...how did I miss that one?
Thanks Tony, for making my childhood more enjoyable with your great show!
There is no need to explain somethings with all the letters in our alphabet and all the words in our language it's can't be spoke it's just felt
Thanks for posting. I remember the original series when I was a tween. I am now watching reruns on Me TV and enjoying them very much. Quality abounded in this show from the writing to the acting to the directing. Ah, nostalgia -- therapeutic in every way.
Met Tony and his beautiful wife they were very humble and kind nothing phony about them.
Unlike Donald Trump
We miss Tony still watching the show in 2023.
I always loved tony. He is so cute
I liked Beaver in the soup bowl and Beaver sticking his tongue out school picture
are you talking about beaver in the coffee cup on the bill board?
Saw both this week on MeTV--loved them, too
Richard Basciano his friend Gilbert said it was real soup in the bowl and of course he dared Beaver to climb to prove it wasn’t calling him chicken. I think it was Whitey who talked him into making the face in the photo.
I had a crush on Tony growing up watching LITB so it's good to see him now.
That was, and still is my very favorite show on television! I'm 65 and still watch it every day. Those folks were class acts, all of them!
