@ The difference between "affordable" and "good" is usually pretty obvious. I'm happy to have sold a quality polysynth to buy an Osmose. I think people will react to this Rolli product like... people have reacted to Rolli products, which is why they're always in the clearance bin. YMMV. But also, you get what you pay for.
@@hallucigenia thing is what I really want is something that plays like the industry standard controllers (launch key etc) but with MPE vibrato on the keys. For around $400. to me that would bring MPE to the mass market as opposed to early adopters, this looks close to that, though it turns out the price is an early bird price only. So if they removed all the lights and airwave and just sold the MPE bit cheaper I'd be happy
I didn't buy the Lumi keys because people complained that the feel of the keys was really off. Hello roli! Y'all are awesome, and I have always supported you but I don't understand the significance of this new Roli piano. It looks like just looks like two Lumi Keys put together, and the airwave has been out for a couple of months now. I don't see what's new; please explain.
Great question! The new ROLI Piano is a 49-key keyboard with full-size, semi-weighted keys and a plunge depth similar to a piano, so has improved feel and playability. The lights of the keys are also more vibrant and it includes a sustain pedal input and MIDI output. Hope that helps.
@@WeAreROLI Hi! So, just to clarify: apart from the light-up keys, do you mean the keybed is similar to the keybeds found in “regular semi-weighted keys” digital pianos, like those from Roland, Yamaha, or Casio? I love the Lumi as a midi synth-keyboard, but to be honest, its keybed isn’t ideal at all for playing piano regularly.
Just looked at their website. This one has full-sized keys and they have full travel down, same "plunge" as a piano, a couple millimeters more than the Lumi / Piano M. Also says the keys are "semi-weighted" , but not sure what the difference is between them and the Lumi.
@luisolivan2497 Yes, the lumi keys are slightly larger "mini keys" (honestly best ones I've played, but most mini keys are garbage). These are full size keys, which give more room for velocity, pitch bend, and aftertouch sensitivity. It's essentially a controller-only version of the Expressive E Osmose, if they can get the expressivity down. I pre-ordered one in hopes that they deliver the expressive key feel in these areas. Hopefully they do.
Same here. I own several of every product Roli have put out and I love them like mad. I have a Seaboard rise 49 MK II, 3 Seaboard M, 6 Lumi Keys and 6 Lightpad Blocks. But this?! 😳 I don’t get it. I was so hoping for the Lightpad Pro to come out. 😢
I don’t remember seeing air grasp in the original airwave videoed Is that only compatible with the roli piano or is it still compatible with seaboard ?
How is the per-key Pitch Bend, compared to Piano M? Is it more consistent, does it physically move further to allow for more sensitivity? How about the velocity and aftertouch sensitivity? Is it just 8% better, or is it more like a Hydrasynth Polytoucy or Fatar poly AT (kontrol s49 mk3)? I want an Osmose style controller in this package size. Advice: can you please make the keys a little grippier texture on top for the pitch bend? The Piano M keys are super slick, and its hard to bend (vibrato is easy, but quick bends are hard to grip)
I am confused what to choose!? Piano System for Learners vs Creators!? What are the exact differences now!? Are there two separate pianos as well?! Thanks for getting back in time to order with the Early-Bird deal! Cheers from Sweden

I'm excited. This appears to be the perfect marriage of the Seaboard 2 and the Lumi: real keys that are full-size and offer tons of expression. I placed my order this morning! It will be the central controller for my entire set-up.
I think you missed an opportunity by not including dna connectors. Yes, of course they can’t be extended to more keys, but there’s other things your modules can do. I have a Lightpads program for Lumi Keys (and Seaboard Block) which does a lot of stuff you need Dashboard for. Like sensitivity settings, single channel vs MPE (and setting said channel) and more. It’s incredibly useful when connected to iPad (where is Dashboard for iPad?) but also with a DAW, because it removes the need to switch programs for those tasks. I’d love to have the same possibilities with my Rise 2 and will miss it on this one as well. Cutting your flagships off of your existing modular system is so backwards thinking to me.
build quality doesnt look great since the keybed seems super wavy (keys dont come back to initial height). having good keys should be the bare minimum for a "piano".
@@WeAreROLI I get suspicious every time ROLI talks about plunge depth. The reason is that you are still describing Piano M’s plunge depth as “10 mm, 92% of a grand piano” which is observably not true. Measuring the distance between the lower edge of a white key to the top of the casing below, that’s already less than 10 mm. On my (pre-naming change) LUMI keys I measure about 8 mm maximum travel distance, and that’s including the travel of the aftertouch. The plunge distance (from top down to the point where you start to feel the bottom) is somewhere around 5 to 6 mm. Do you use the same questionable measurement in case of this keyboard too?
@@Soulindex All my Lightpads still work to their full potential, not barely. They all play, look and feel like new (apart from some scratches on their bottom and sides), that’s after more than 6 years of use. I think in terms of longevity they are the best devices ROLI ever built. I hope it stays that way.
@@WeAreROLI I am super pumped about the Lightpads Pro! If it will be Littlefoot programmable (and has more internal memory to hold scripts), it certainly will be an insta-buy the second it’s available. Hopefully current size Lightpad will return too, they are a perfect fit for your M-Series (ex Blocks) devices. They being practically indestructible means I won’t be buying one, but I just love them so much I want them to be fruitful and multiply :).
Sweet but I dislike that you keep having to reach and touch the computer. Itd be nice if all these features were actually built into the piano instead of having the brains be my computer so I could use it with my Ipad set up. or I guess build an Ipad app?
Very nice upgrade ! I loved the roli lumi and its features but hated its keybed and smaller keysize. Now its perfect 😊 I also have a seabord rise 2 and i wonder if the control panel (on the left side of the seaboard) can be used to control the roli piano instead of the airwave ? which is not ergonomic for my setup
I did like the Roli Piano. But I did not buy it. Because I already own two LUMI Keys and also. I prefer to have weighted keys. For me I do not need to have a sustain pedal and other things. Personally it's just portable for me to keep learning at work if it's quiet at night and I have nothing to do. Just like the two seaboard blocks M that I own. I did like the video. Because it did give me ideas of what to do with my two LUMI Keys and also my Airwave that is coming soon. I do not have space in my backpack to bring the piano. My two LUMI Keys and also two seaboard blocks M yes.
@@JayboogyH Like they said, it's a midi keyboard, it has to be connected to a computer/ipad/hardware synth capable of receiving midi input and generating a sound.
