    ‘Gypsies, tramps & thieves’, half breed’ and ‘Dark lady’ are lyrically powerful songs by Cher & worthy of reactions. ‘Believe’ was her biggest hit around the world. This song was the follo-up to believe. An amazing lady Cher ❤❤

    I actually saw Cher live over a decade ago, which was an 'experience' in itself...and she did this song. Cher is one of the few artists who I can easily say that as good as her recorded songs sound, they always sound infinitely better at her live shows, in part due to the performance value. She has an entire group of professional dancers for her live performances, and easily changed outfits over a dozen times. Every song was like it's own personal show. if you ever get a chance to see video of her live performance for her Believe tour, I can guarantee you won't be disappointed.

    • @willdwyer6782
      @willdwyer6782 2 роки тому

      @@tkdrgnon she started digitally pitch correcting her vocals in the '90s. I grew up hearing her natural voice with Sonny and solo. She's got a vocal talent that's extremely rare called chordal vibrato. It's likely a genetic trait of people with indigenous North American heritage. Cher is part Cherokee on her mother's side. Vibrato in most singers is from the diaphragm which results in a rapid variation in volume. Cher's vibrato comes from her vocal cords which results in a rapid variation in pitch. Canadian folk singer and indigenous activist Buffy Sainte-Marie is also a chordal vibrato master.

    This was Cher’s reinvention during the Rave period & is not disco but Rave music. The title track, Believe, her biggest hit ever was the first to experiment with vocal altering techniques you have probably heard ever since without realizing it was groundbreaking when she did it. It’s also a complete banger and very Cher. Loved her since I was a kid & saw her Vegas show twice (so good it was worth going back, everyone dances).

    Cher fan since....wow 70's? Early 70's? (pre teen years) My personal fav song of hers is "Heart of Stone"
    Cher concerts - 5. Never past the 10th row. First one was 2nd row. This was during her first farewell tour. I missed the early years live. When she came out I actually cried. Main reason for 5 concerts is I ran out of people to drag along with me. (my husband liked his turn as her opening act was Cindy Lauper and as she walked by him and squeeze his arm. His claim to fame) Her "I don't care what anyone thinks" attitude (even though she is pretty insecure in a lot of ways) Her reinventing her career several times. Her fighting for what she believes in. (Her clothes! Even to this day!) As, what I hope is correct, a strong woman myself I respect a woman with ⚾'s! Her drive! (Still working today at 76! with a boyfriend 40 yrs younger!)
    Once upon a time when I was a young/mid teen I was often told I looked like her. Not anymore for sure! Damn!

    The BeeGees did not have anything to do with this - Cher was just trying to reinvent herself yet again, and Dance music was making a huge comeback at the time. She is very good at gauging what type of song to release to get her name back in the musical conversation again. I have adored her my whole life and I am 56 - she never fails to make me smile and sing and dance. Thank you for looking into her various styles and you still have a lot left to react to!!

    It's funny that you always bring up how strong & confidant Cher is. She is now, but it's well known when Sonny & Cher first started out she was very shy. Sonny had to convince her she was good enough & he basically had to force her to sing! She gives much credit to Sonny for making her perform.
    Cher is definitely one of a kind & an icon.
    Off topic...when Cher tweets she ALWAYS tweets in all caps! It's funny.

    Cher was also in a movie with Christina Aguilera called Burlesque, it's kinda a cross between a drama/dance/musical. You should check it out if you haven't seen it yet 😉

    Long before all the first name singers out there.. Madonna, Beyoncé, Adele, etc, there was Cher, with no last name needed. She is a legend.

    You should watch the movie Silkwood from 1983 with Cher, Meryle Streep and Kurt Russell. Based on a true story.

    Love Cher. I all ways thought of her music was dance music, that's her bread and butter. When you can go by just one name, you've made it. She was all ways Cher. She's another over achiever. She's done a few really good movies, as the fam have stated. Mask and Moonstruck, are both worth a look. Tons more music too. Thanks again.

    Cher is such a legend. This song was popular in the 90's. Please do Sharon O'Neill--Maxine next Female Friday. Thanks! Apparently, there's some sax in it. Sorry Jordan, this song was written by Mark Taylor and Paul Barry. In this video, Cher is a computer virus and her role is an advisor who tells a bad boyfriend the reasons why his girlfriend (played by Shannyn Sossamon) will leave him. Teens in a party, two women, two robbers and many gothic instrument players also appear in the video. This went to number one in Hungary and into the top ten in Austria, Belgium, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, New Zealand, Scotland, Spain, Switzerland and the UK. Unfortunately, this went to #57 out of the top 100 here in the U.S., her other song "Believe" was the most popular in 1998.

    Check out ‘Just This One Time’ from the 1970s if you want to hear a ballad with Cher’s full vocal range, including whistle notes! It’s in UA-cam and she preformed it on the Carol Burnett show for nice visuals.

    My favorite from her is "I hope you find it". Which I believe (no pun intended) is a cover of a Miley Cyrus song. 😊
