Great interview, End of the world is a great book. Can we elect this guy and bring back common sense? Even though he is from Iowa I would rally and vote for him (Minnesota guy 😀)
What I find Peter most useful for, is identifying general trends, and pressures that are affecting the global systems and different countries. I find him very insightful in identifying those pressures. However, I always get extremely nervous about his bold declarations as to the timeline Dramatic changes are going to happen. China will not exist as a unified country within 10 years? The Republicans will suffer a blowout to defeat in 2024? I don’t know… I’m skeptical.
Last January he said the Russian Ukrainian war would be over in May. In this video he made a very bold election prediction that we will know the answer two in nine months. He has said iPhones and Mercedes won't be available soon. He has only been popular for a short period of time. I think his predictions will catch up to him soon.
I find his predictions are best when you add "unless no action is taken" onto the end. His bold predictions are just there to get clicks and attention.
Mr. Zeihan is always informative and entertaining. I would love it, if only the last two minutes had been recorded much more recently. Simply to hear his CURRENT feelings about the coming election, again simply because it's been almost a year since this was recorded, and the last two minutes were so interesting to me...
What I don't like about Zeihan is that he presents (extreme) scenarios that are dependent on so many different variables as absolute certanties. Even if every single argument that he makes is correct, which is debatable, it is just not good academic practice to imply that level of certanty on such a complex issue over such a long period. There is a good reason why most academics use softer language rather than implying that they have figured everything out.
These criticisms are off the mark because he's _not_ an academic. You can tell he's not an academic because he's got a continuously punchy, trenchant delivery. And I say this as a retired academic.
He works as consultant. His scenarios with certainty is necessary for him to make decisions. Academian study things. They don't actually need to make final decision. That is different.
PZ is an entertainer who challenges listeners to use some logic. His conclusions come across hard as concrete, but he obviously knows there will be variables and un-even outcomes. One of the things that I see as important in future is the effect of the First Person View "FPV" Drone technology. Some person in a closet operating a machine and not having to worry about the safety aspects of working with an automated industrial machine. Factory workers that can work from home.

As a Canadian I personally don’t see with my eyes what Peter is saying in terms of high skilled immigrants moving in. I see the complete opposite. Low skilled ie) : Amazon drivers , skip the dishes drivers, fast food workers ect. Perhaps my eyes are deceiving me but this is my observation. They are buying up the housing but it’s not because they come with suitcases full of money, it’s because the government subsidizes it. No one with money would come here. It’s not a business friendly country. It’s high taxes , red tape , high inflation, high operating costs, economic uncertainty.
My observation, living in a university town: it's both. For sure, there are sketchy private colleges who are essentially selling access to a work visa, and those students are taking whatever jobs they can (and probably not getting a quality education, unfortunately). But, our universities are attracting really talented, wealthy foreign students thanks to the quality of our programs. Those students are driving cars I wish I could afford and living alone in student accomodations built for multiple students. If they stay, they are coming out of very rigorous STEM programs and come from wealth -- that's what Peter is referring to.
@@tonyflorio3269is there evidence to suggest that the wealthy , impressive , well educated ones are staying in the country after their education is complete ? Or are they exploiting the system aka : subsidized school , housing ect ? I don’t doubt there are lots of high skilled migrants coming , but again from what I’ve observed with my eyes and instincts , is that it appears to be a minimum 20/1 unskilled to skilled.
I would really like to see you do a rebuttal to the Putin comments coming out of the Tucker interview. Putin was bragging as if Russia and China economies are growing and the dollar is headed out the door.

@@nicib3085 it's maybe because you don't see the biases or failings of Zeihan. He is a good advisor, not a decision taker. He is still subject to inexperience and spurious inputs. Two examples of his recent failures are his predictions of Ruski gas/oil going away for good. Well Chinese and Indians stepped up to the technical plate that was supposed to be an EU/NA only expertise. Second one is his reading on India, he gets the basic problems right but there are so many spurious inputs like Modi apparently forgiving 08 era losses of his friends. Which turned out to be a bank write off(not a waiver, an asset write off which means the "friends" still owe money). And who are these friends? None of them are close to Modi. Adani, Ambani and Tatas have never reneged on a loan payment.
After his last assessment of Poland's role in post-American world, which was as off the mark as it could have been really, I'd be careful with Peter's optimism in regards to US/ Mex bright future. It looks more like he's enjoying being in the spotlight and catering to people's imaginations of their own place in the world, than being a factual researcher.
I think Peter underestimates the amount of outright resentment growing in Canada between its native populaiton and recent swathes of immigrants, especially in the last 2-3 years. Its certaintly leading to some serious socitetal issues and large amounts of the population want immigration greatly reduced. Its also worth noting that the places Peter mentions within Canada that posses much of our processing capabilities and resources, Alberta/Saskatchewan/Manitoba are one of the only places in Canada with fairly stable birthes, above the rest of the country, and have burgeoning independence movements which have shifted provincial governments right. For instance the Priemier of Saskatchewan is currnetly in a stand off with the Federal government in his refusal to pay poritons of the carbon tax and is forming a seperate Provincial Marshall service as to create a seperate power structure of legal enforcement after he threatened the federal environment minister that he'd arrest Federal agents tresspassing on private land in the province. The solution the East used to solve a demographic problem largely contained to itself has alienated the West, who are also more conservative and hesistent on immigration to begin with, while also requiring that they massively tax and extract wealth from the region to prop up their failing demographics while also supporting the mass immigration they need to keep the wheels turning. I don't think people realize how close the entire situation is to outright collapse if something like the property market crashed.
But... but you're CANADIAN! From down here in the South you're all too nice to have a civil war and dissolve your union! (just kidding.) If this happens, what comes next? Zeihan among others has dissected what you describe and his conclusion was that the various provinces would be forced into tighter integration with the US to the South. That they cannot stand on their own economically and really don't have anyone else who CAN work with them. Imagine Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba in this situation. Do they try to build infrastructure to the north so they can ship things out via the Arctic Ocean? Or through the Rockies, which they have failed to do for a century now because it would be REALLY HARD!!!!? Or through those eastern provinces they just broke away from? Or use the existing roads, rails and pipelines to continue working with the US and it's massive, integrated transport systems and markets?
@markpukey8 assuming it's peaceful, which 90% chance it is, we essentially become the defecto 51st state. If it were at all violent, and assuming the United States doesn't invade at that point, Saskberta would just grab up a handful of ports on the West coast excluding Vancouver. The bigger issue with getting gas to the west coast is political interference from the provincial government and native groups not infrastructure, those routes were carved out 150 years ago for trains/roads through the mountains.
@@doscassette871 "and assuming the United States doesn't invade at that point" LOL, it's like you've met us before! And I seem to recall that the Franophiles in Quebec actually managed to get it explicit in your courts that separating from Canada IS LEGAL for them... which means it would be just as legal for you. So it probably would be peaceful, at least on the national level. I can't imagine the local citizens would not have "strong opinions" on both sides of doing this. God knows, nobody wins if Canada or any other major nation tears itself apart. It cannot help but be disastrous for all the locals.
@@markpukey8 The only way I can see it becoming violent is, as you have pointed out, the legal right to seperate was just ignored by the Federal government if a vote succeeded. Depending on whos in charge of Ottawa at the time I don't consider it out of the realm of possibility they might see the West leaving as so extisentially terrible for their own future that they would just ignore the legal precedent and stop it by force. That'd be really in my opinion that only way it'd get truly violent, the other option is if a vote fails or the West continues being alienated and a IRA type conflict begins with rural areas being very very easy spots to launch ambush attacks or destroy infrastructure until their demands are met. There is a very very very unhappy minority, maybe around 3%-5% of the population out West that might genuinally get violent if Ottawa keeps going full steam ahead with its current policies.

Great interview, End of the world is a great book. Can we elect this guy and bring back common sense? Even though he is from Iowa I would rally and vote for him (Minnesota guy 😀)
Thanks! For the work effort!! Very Interesting
Very interesting, as usual. I hope Peter Zeihan's forecast about Trump and the future of the GOP comes true... 🙂
Yes, because democrat leadership has done so well. 😂🤢🤮
Thanks for posting Peter.
@@johnphillips4815 Yeah, I can't say the iphone prediction really panned out for him.
I find his predictions are best when you add "unless no action is taken" onto the end.
His bold predictions are just there to get clicks and attention.
Hello Mr. Zeihan. Have you yet explained how you got it wrong about what happened a week ago Tuesday?
Canada is a special place with sparkles. 🤣. The first time I’ve heard some one convincingly say the housing problem is linked to immigration. 👍
Mr. Zeihan is always informative and entertaining.
I would love it, if only the last two minutes had been recorded much more recently.
Simply to hear his CURRENT feelings about the coming election,
again simply because it's been almost a year since this was recorded, and the last two minutes were so interesting to me...
I guess we will see how it hold up.
@@AlfredKriman What is he then? A snake oil seller?😂
PZ knows, we all know, that the future is a mist shrouded place; the best we can hope for is some light hearted guidance.
He's acting as an entertainer because it works.

One of the things that I see as important in future is the effect of the First Person View "FPV" Drone technology. Some person in a closet operating a machine and not having to worry about the safety aspects of working with an automated industrial machine. Factory workers that can work from home.
Japan is already exploring this quite a bit. Check into it.
I Hope this being posted means that Peter is analyzing the Tucker and Putin interview. I am incredibly curious on Peters in sight
Just avert your eyes...
I’m trying to figure out how these are related
@@joela.4058 my assumption is, Peter did not have enough time to do a video today regarding Putin interview thus this conference video was posted, as it was two hours long and ended about 8 hours before this video was posted. That is all.
why would you assume he cares or its news worthy in any way, shape or form? Did Putin release any new info? @@oldschoolpanels
Actually Peter doesn’t usually give much value to culture war BS like Tucker represents. In Peter’s global view Tucker is an ant. Consider he never talks about racism, abortion, etc.
I saw this already but been waiting for this type of interview for a long time
Well Now! This one was really interesting. Wish more viewers shared his words. Thanks for the information on the Red China Spy Ballon. He covered a lot of bases and I learned a whole more about the current geo-political politics world wide. This is not a one man show. You have a great Staff and Great Information. He never cites a source.... so balloon theory is BS where are the images of the 'aircraft' sitting above or below? Certainly there would be images. For him to make such a statement without being challenged to produce receipts.... is poopaganda.
Great talk as always! Loved the longer vid.

Those fentanyl and DEA comments were real ballsy. And they needed to be said.

Do you believe Peter? Do you think China will collapse within 10 years?
Peter Zeihan- The Daily Mail of the geopolitics. A bit of news sautéed with handful bits of political drama and served with huge dose of unscientific speculation! Make what you want out of it!
Precisely! The eternal Zeihan mantra: America great, ROW - doomed.
I love to hear his speachs
Keen to see your response to the Tucker Carlson vs Putin interview
It's not an interview. The Russians are just using carlson as a puppet to parrot heir propaganda in English to try to disinform westerners. And Carlson is openly a russian partisan. Beat thing we could possibly do is ignore it entirely, and bar him access back to the USA. He made his choice. He's a traitor. He can live here now.

According to OECD Vietnam STEM percentage of graduates is 29%, not 40%.
In fact, other than south Korea and Singapore - Europe has the highest percentage of STEP graduates...
And it's irrelevant if those engineers have no job prospects and if they are generic, obedient, uncreative Asian type of graduates.
@@tonyflorio3269 If they stay . Not much incentive to stay. The system is being exploited and the cost-benefit leaves much to ponder.
Wow, what a fantastic argument from PETER!

If Peter is correct about China, why do our politicians say China is our greatest threat? Something doesn’t compute.
Nothing he says computes to a thinking person. That’s why it’s interesting.
China will not decline without trying to take the rest of the world with them.

I would really like to see you do a rebuttal to the Putin comments coming out of the Tucker interview. Putin was bragging as if Russia and China economies are growing and the dollar is headed out the door.
I’m so excited to see the Mexican/American relationship potential. I’ve lived my entire life in the US borderlands and so Mexican culture has always been American to me.
Just as Black history is American history so is Mexican history. I look forward to the opportunity of making a brighter future together.

We want a Zeihan - Putin interview/ debate 😅
Consultant vs leader. Nah.
Zeihan is amazing but he is still subject to the limit of not being a doer and decision taker.
As long as Putin is the interviewer
@@rutvikrs he could advise putin in geopolitical matters and putin can say what he thinks about zeihans advise (obviously wont happen in reality)
This is great! Love it.
Finally a long form video!!!
(just kidding.)
If this happens, what comes next?
@@doscassette871 "and assuming the United States doesn't invade at that point"
LOL, it's like you've met us before!
You’re welcome Peter… Regards from Canada. 😂😂😂
