Oh man that Windows 10 forced upgrade was rage inducing. I run a recording studio and had $10K+ worth of Firewire high end recording gear, and none of it had Win10 drivers. And one day it just upgraded it and I came in the next day with a session booked in and the whole thing was on fire. I think the resulting support call to microsoft was the only time I've actually angrily shouted at someone over the phone. That studio now runs on a mac (And the gear is now upgraded to thunderbolt stuff, which aint cheap)

Much simpler solution, go to the BIOS and turn off TPM and Secure boot. Suddenly, in the Microsoft eyes, the PC becomes e-waste unable running Windows 11.

In fact if you don't want to upgrade at all take out your TPM 2.0 chip and you should be fine it won't make you upgrade because Microsoft is FORCING people to have at least an 8gh gen Intel CPU and a TPM 2.0 so if you're like me stuck on a 6th gen Intel and no TPM you should be perfectly fine jokes on Microsoft.

Indeed. TPM and Secure Boot was never about making your computer more secure. It was created to make your computer more trustable by Microsoft. And also more controllable by them.

It's looking like I'll stay on Windows 10 until the day comes when I'm not on Windows altogether anymore. That's why I've been knee deep in Linux content lately. There's definitely a learning curve, but nobody was born knowing how to use Windows either.

I agree. In fact, I have Windows 10 dualbooted it with Linux Mint on my main pc which is a Dell Optiplex 9010 even though I originally wanted to install Windows 7 before dualbooting Mint because of how Windows 7 is lighter weight and uses less resources. However, the problem was that I for whatever reason had a hard time installing drivers for that pc despite the fact that I was actually using Windows 7 64 bit drivers from the official website for the Optiplex 9010 which is built for Windows 7 and shouldn't have any of the driver issues that I have experienced.

    • @SirCaco
      @SirCaco 16 днів тому +4

@@fexploder3281 My friend, now that you're telling me this, I'm reminded of some of the stuff I've been reading in regards to dual booting Windows and Linux, and I think it might be of some help to you. I don't know how much you've got in the way of space in your Optiplex, I don't suppose it's a whole lot if it looks anything like the Optiplexes I've worked with in the past, but you should still make an effort to add another drive, if you haven't already, and keep Linux and Windows in separate drives. Sometimes, with updates and everything, these guys don't play too nice together and they'll eat up the other one's partition just for kicks. Nasty way to end up losing your data. But you should be fine if you've got them in different drives already though!

I keep almost everything on a separate drive accept nonimportant stuff, well or so I thought. I lost some things I took off my phone that were important and just hadn't moved yet. But the only schedule options were next time it checks for updates or next time it's turned on. Grr coercive control much! I went round scheduled and back a few times then it Finnish showed a new prompt DECLINE UPDATE unsure of this was reversible later and with no other ways to get off this loop, I did long press on the power button to just close the system. I can confirm we have had about half a dozen computers self-update to Windows 11 at my company. It doesn't happen often, and I haven't found any rhyme or reason to why it happens on one laptop but not on another identical laptop. So I would say it is definitely a rare thing, at least. (I had asked the users if they got any sort of pop-up or fullscreen thing that came up, and each one said no. Half of them are pretty technical people, as well.)
Is it possible that it's something triggered by some Dell/HP/etc. software, maybe? That's just a wild guess.
    Anyway, just another data-point. 🙂

yup after windows installed an update......
puter restarts, and then say that something went wrong and has to undo changes ......
then puter restarts and I get the login screen that is all black.....
can't do any thing, had to go to safe mode and to a system restore....
this happens after about every other update.....
So I did what you said and I agree.....
so I SHUT WINDOWS UPDATE OFF .....totally...
And I will not upgrade to Windows 11, nope nada
Why are windows updates so destructive..... why why why
My system runs great 64 threads, 128 gig ram 2 vid cards, 2 power supplies, it's a BEAST of a machine...

Simple step: enter to BIOS, turn TPM off, save changes. Computer become unsuitable for Winblows 11. Also are some quirks to disable Update Medic Service if someone know regedit - edit some paths to DLLs in CurrentCotrolSet\services key. This area in not protected by TrustedInsteller account.

Definitely agree, new PC windows 11, what a total hell to make it useable and disable all the web-integrations, Ai, apps.Even more than windows10 and 11 is outright slow compared to 10. The older PC is simply faster in daily use. Had to edit local group policy multiple times, registry edits to get 11 somewhat okish running.
Older pc, i had TPM chip disabled when installing win10, this stops microsoft from offering windows11 lol. (do not disable TPM if already installed if you do not what you are doing!! It can lead to loss of all your data on the PC/non-bootable system).

With my laptop, Win 11 worked but it ran horrible. Browsers flashing, resetting themselves, lag, took the plunge and installed Linux Mint, worth it! It has been 4 months, and it was pretty seamless compared to the last time I tried Ubuntu years ago. Otherwise I was going to downgrade it to Win 10 and do this. Elder Scrolls Oblivion worked too, where it was almost unplayable every time Windows Defender kicked on. Was playing it for hours the other day.

It's not just a wrong click. With me it warned me that my system supports 11 and one day I just restarted there was not even an update notification after the restart it immediately started updating. There is a possibility to go back from 11 to 10 but it was already updated anyway so I decided to leave it. But right after installation I decided to play around and optimize it and disable a few service functions and quite a few unnecessary extras. It's currently running and in parts looks like Windows 10.

Some while ago ms hassled me daily to "upgrade". (Why fix it if it isn't broken?)
One day, I pressed on the wrong thing and away we go, here comes the next generation.
This corrupted my computer which meant that a tech guy had to fix it. It was never the same again.
That computer is now only used for playing videos via a TV !
This laptop was upgraded following CyberCPU guidelines (because of the constant ms nagging) and then downgraded back to a combination of win 10 and win 11. Unfortunately, consecutive upgrades have relocated the search window which has all kinds of crap in it again, and the windows button, bottom left, is inoperative.
    Thank you, microsoft.

Hi, I am Bradley Powell. I have cerebral palsy and autism. I am wondering if you could make another video like this but this time if there’s some kind of software or some other work around to stop Windows 11 because I have Windows 10 and my laptop is a HP laptop, running Windows10 and I don’t want Windows 11 but I completely do not feel comfortable going into my Rise and doing it myself. I may screw up something and I had to reinstall the operating system windows 10 and games and files and all that stuff yeah no I don’t want to do that, so if you have some other way to go and stop windows 11 from upgrading that would be perfect thank you.
