Goodwill is greedy and has unbalanced scales. I see the poorest people going in there and buying overpriced used stuff. Do they not know some of the stuff in there come from home goods, and home goods has it cheaper than Goodwill selling it high used...make it make since...
I bought a $3 shirt at Walmart. That was on sale.I decided I wasn't going to wear it because it was a little big. I took a few things to the Goodwill that I wasn't going to wear anymore. Went back to the store a couple of weeks later they had a price tag on the shirt that I dropped off.. they wanted $10 for that ugly thing!! This is why I no longer donate to the Goodwill! 😡👎☠️
They're not a charity. They just call themselves goodwill because they rely on the goodwill of people who donate thinking it will help the poor. They're making money hand over fist, just look at how much their CEO makes. I only donate to salvation army or humane society.
@@rss7329 And it's POOR people they are trying to gouge! Resellers can't buy to make a profit either. I also see things, or saw things, that were from 99¢ stores marked up.
I don't understand where they get off charging antique resale and designer prices for free, donated goods. Sad thing is, if you donated those six milk glass plates and itemized your charitable giving for your taxes, Goodwill's tax value list might value them as $2.99. If Goodwill were honest about reselling them for $65.99, you would have been able to adjust your tax deduction to reflect a donation that was valued at $65.99. Seems like Goodwill is scamming both the tax codes and the donors whose donations are being undervalued.
@@peacefuldaizy5717 There is a website that lists the taxable value of items that have been donated to Goodwill. If the website says the taxable value of a tea set is $2.99, but Goodwill sells it for $65.99, that's unfair to the person who donated that item.
Good Will isn’t going to last long if they keep these prices up. They get this stuff for free. I understand having to pay workers and for buildings, but the way they price the wares seems like greed.
They should be investigated for fraud!!! Their prices are outrages for DONATED items. Where does the profits REALLY go? Never hear about them truly helping anyone.
6 dishes at $65.99 is $11 each + tax. Maybe slightly more than shown on the web purchase page even with shipping. BUT you get all 6 NOW. (A bird in hand...!) Goodwills near me are the last places I look for a bargain... only go now when hunting a specific type of clothing as they are always well organized and in bright light. There used to be a Goodwill center near Bradenton, FL that collected the "unsellables" from Goodwills nearby, then marked them down 50%... Now, THAT was a fun place to shop!
@@irmawehle7430Except, if you look closely, it's not $10 EACH, the prices are for SETS of plates. Looks more like about $5 each, so less than half of that $66 + tax. Someone can use Google, but can't read.
I’ve seen DOLLAR TREE Shirts for $3. Used $1 t-shirts! Same for Walmart $3 tank tops! I see them for $5-$7 all the time! USED $2.98 shirts! No more Goodwill for me
@jenniferd264 I have even seen them selling brand new shirts from Walmart ($3.99) for $9.00 each. The shirts still had the tags from Walmart on them with the $3.99 price.
Goodwill has got ridiculous that stuff is donated and they are asking enormous prices for stuff that you can go for a dollar to two dollars more and buy brand new
A goodwill was selling an early 2000s unopened shoe shelf part of a large closet module (not ikea) the price printed on the box was $ 9.99 goodwill listed it for $12.99 ridiculous.

The last time I went to Goodwill they wanted $5 for chipped used coffee cups. I went to the Dollar store and bought 5 brand new coffee cups for $5.00. The Goodwill is too overpriced for me to buy used items that were donated.😮
Please God, do not give ANYTHING to salvation army. They actively abuse their disabled employees, worse than goodwill does, they specifically harm impoverished minorities. They are an awful awful business hiding behind the title of "charity"
Not Salvation Army if you care about the LGBT+ community, though. Their policies are based in religious fundamentalism. They have repeatedly denied help to LGBT people as well as single mothers, and push their political agenda beyond the work that they do as a charity. Also, even if you don't care about any of that, like Goodwill, they use scan the items for their value as soon as they come into the shop, so anything actually valuable is typically not put out for sale and is instead sold directly online. This also means that you're much less likely to find a bargain because they'll want a "fair" price for the item. Honestly, the best thing you can do these days is find a smaller, local charity. Much better prices, and much less corruption. My go-to thrift store supports Women in Distress, an organization that helps women who have escaped abuse. In addition to the profit going towards the charity, women who are seeking help from the organization can go to the thrift store and pick out anything that might them to start a new life away from their abuser. A lot of local companies donate excess inventory to them, so you can even find a lot of new items. The prices are always very good and there are a lot of unique finds. I often donate items back to them if I end up not using them.
Goodwill being ridiculous again. With prices like that they are never going to be able to accomplish their mission to help people because no one is gonna buy that. I just don’t understand the reasoning. And it’s not because of resellers.
The stores are getting crazy with their pricing. They need to sell low to get the stuff out of there before it ends up in a landfill. Love the 70s glasses I remember those
Try shopping at goodwill stores in Ohio and hey are getting insanely rediculous with their prices they charge more for items u can still get at the dollar tree, and they just keep jacking up prices on everything
I went in my local Goodwill recently. The 1st thng I noticed was the smell. Dirty laundry smell. I picked a few items. While waiting to check out I ditched a few. The lady in front of me hid items under a large mirror. As soon as she walked away I let the clerk know. She shrugged her shoulders. She rang up my stuff and said Next. I looked at her and asked for a bag. No bags anymore! Seriously!!!
I worked for goodwill years ago and quit because of how ridiculous they had us marking stuff and how they'd make us cut electrical cords on appliances that worked just weren't in the best condition instead of donating them. It's truly disgusting what goodwill does and they don't help people like they claim they do.
Charity shops in England also put higher prices on some things, but you can always find something I just ignore the higher priced object . Keep shopping.
Goodwill is definitely abusing their power. Truthfully, that company could fold tomorrow and still live financially comfortable the rest of their lives from the profits they exploited from us
Goodwill prices are absolutely ridiculous at all their stores. They get their merchandise for free, they pay their employees minimum wage, they get credit and discounts for the store so they have very little overhead, well with the exception of the president of the company who pays himself over a hundred grand a year and pays for his sports car

Oh by the way, we wwnt about 2 weeks ago. There was a small table with 2 chairs, the price was $65.00.
