🧠💪👊💯💚 fabulous video ……we used to stay there so many times over the years……. We lived in Dittisham or as the local’s call it ditsom 😂🎉 brings back so many memories 🧠💚💯 thanks for the memories 👊
That's certainly true if you just need a practical place to sleep. We recently stayed at Aerotel at Heathrow airport. The rooms there have no windows, but are perfectly functional and to a high standard. Perfect for sleeping in a dark, quiet room before or after a flight.
“and down here we’ve got a toilet, a waste bin…” we would be totally dumbfounded without such expert explanation of the footage 😂 looks like a travel lodge from 1995
We stayed in the room next to the one featured. Not a great sea view, but the room was comfortable and clean. I have stayed in other hotels in Torquay, which frankly were not as good. Having stayed in at least 100, 4 star hotels all over the UK, I can honestly say that this hotel is better than most.
Thanks for watching and commenting - much appreciated. I have to say that you've had some pretty bad luck if The Grand is better than most of the 4 star hotels you've stayed in. I've tried to think of a better way to put that, but literally cannot - sorry! Were these 100 4-star hotels all independents or big chain hotels? We too have stayed in a lot of hotels over the past 20 years, and cannot think of any of the big chain hotels that were worse than the Grand. I guess it could just be a personal preference. I am looking forward to revisiting The Grand in the future, as they are working hard in the background to make improvements. The fact that they reached out to me afterwards and explained a few bits speaks volumes for their commitment to improve things. We do love Torquay, we just want a good nights stay there at some point 😀
We stayed here in December and had a similar experience - lovely kind staff but patchy otherwise but there was something charming about the place that would mean we would return if the price was right
Yes I know what you mean. We want it to be really successful, it should be up in the top 10 best hotels for Torquay ideally. Hopefully they will turn it around. Lovely building as well.
Thanks for watching and commenting, it's greatly appreciated. Yes, we've stayed at the Imperial too and wanted to see how The Grand compared. We love the view from the Imperial. We usually book the ones with accessible balconies. Very similar hotels, but for us, the Imperial ticks more boxes for us.
I’ve stayed at the Imperial in Torquay. Amazing hotel. So it was interesting to see how the Grand hotel looked like from the inside. I think I still prefer the Imperial 😊
A lot more rooms have the stunning view at The Imperial. I prefer the public spaces at The Imperial, but the staff on our visits, were better at The Grand. We’re glad you found the video useful! 😀
Thanks for watching and commenting, it's greatly appreciated! I guess it's down to personal preference, a bit like why we don't all drive the same make and model of car.
Thank you for the recommendation. I've just had a look at their website, and yes it looks really nice. I've added it to the list for when we are in that area. Really appreciate that, thank you.
If you go there, go for a room in the old hall. They have an a new annexe, that is lovely but doesn't have that old world charm. We have stayed in the Nursery and have booked a birthday treat in a four poster room in May. Have fun.
Thanks for watching and adding your comments - it's much appreciated. Yes, I'm really not sure why it's only ranked the 63rd best hotel in Torquay on Trip Advisor.
@@jamieandkevgotravelling Haunted by the look of it lol 😆 😂.. I live in Torquay mate...and parts of it now are dreadful unfortunately..This has happened really dramatically over the recent years...paignton is literally falling apart as well...
It's a very old hotel it use to belong to GWR YEARS AGO for its age it looks very clean tidy and looked after , they do a very good Sunday lunch and not a bad price , depends what yoyr looking for and Ken said he stay there again , if you have a issues just report it I am sure they will sort it for you
Thanks for commenting and watching. If only the window wasn't a restricted opening! They do have other rooms with official balconies, and you do have to climb out through the sash window!

Glad you enjoyed it and you are most welcome 😃
All you need is a clean tidy room and fresh linen.

Stayed at the Imperial, very similar but got a side sea view but couldn't access the balcony due to maintenance issues, there was a nasty crack in it.

Why pay a premium price for a sea view. The sea is featureless. Rather look at trees and a garden

If you get a chance you must try Gisborough Hall just outside the town of Guisborough. A truly lovely place. Not the cheapest but a great experience.

Thanks for the tip, much appreciated.
Kind of reminded me of the film. The Shining ....
Having said that ,the grand is still a lot better than most of Torquay...

We've not tried their Sunday dinners. We will definitely try them the next time we're in Torquay for a weekend 👍
I would no moan about the roof in the way. You have your own balcony, with sea view. Now you just need a deck chair and some sunshine.
Thanks for commenting and watching.

It’s an antique shop not a strange museum!
I thought it was things taken out of the rooms over the decades! I never knew it was an antiques shop! Thanks for that 😃
"What did you expect to see wilderbeast?"😅
😂 love it!

It's NOT BY a train station, it's a railway station! Stop aping Americans.
The railway station by the parking lot? Only joking! I know how annoying it is when people refer to shopping malls…
Don't think your being picky about the view. I'd demand to move to another room with a REAL sea view at no extra charge or my money back!!!
Thanks for commenting and watching the video!
I don't think I've ever requested to change rooms. Maybe I should moving forward! :-)
*you're. The contraction of you are. It's really not difficult.
Very 1970s 80s decor
It is! Some people would love it, but we prefer more modern.
No I won't have this,
There's a place in Eastbourne
Thank you for watching. Where would you recommend we try in Eastbourne?
i have worked in nicer nursing homes with better views of the sea.
😂 love it!
