No offence I'm a clean freak and the marks on wall smelly pillows I couldn't stay .but that must be a women thing .but wow that last holiday resort was absolutely gorgeous.
My late grandmother and father stayed here in the 1930's and 1940's when it was apparently a luxurious and prestigious hotel. How sad that it has come to this. Britannia are a byword for shameful management that treats customers like cattle.

Another one bites the dust (anything owned by Bitannia). It is time Britannia was banned from buying all these once beautiful hotels and not looking after them. Just for greed.
I live here, there are photos around the area of what it used to look like and it did look like the grand hotel lived up to its name. These days it is avoided by most due to its condition. There are talks of it being purchased soon and being closed and completely renevated alongside a huge extention so hopefully this goes through
I absolutely love these old buildings but how this hotel chain has allowed them to become in this amount of disrepair is such a crying shame. I imagine how grand and posh they would have been whilst in their prime and how the guests must have been very posh and well off to stay there back in the day. Another great walk around, thanks Tim and family 👍
I last stayed here 30 years ago when Butlins owned it. It was an absolutely beautiful hotel back then, the entertainment was first class but it looks exactly the same as it did 30 years ago, only worse! The scaffolding looks like it is holding the hotel up! The postcard you showed is the exact same one they had 30 years ago when it was owned by Butlins!!!
hmmm... the website for this dump states that the hotel offers guests a "particular holiday feeling". what feeling were they aiming for ? crushing disappointment maybe? a feeling of wanting to be anywhere else? or perhaps a more tangible feeling of grime and discomfort. Great video Tim, thanks for enduring for our entertainment.
I wonder what a more expensive room looks like. Probably larger, but I would expect the same stains, but a larger bed, I'd guess. Exposed pipes are because the building was built without much plumbing, and they just couldn't add it in the walls, or it was lead pipes.
I always feel bad for the people working at the reception of these places cuz they're obviously not at fault for how broken down and dirty these places are but I bet they get lots of comments about it
I stayed at this hotel many years ago when I was a child and it was absolutely stunning. We had a room at the front with a balcony, and we dined half board. From what I can remember we had a really great time. Such a shame to see it in the state it is now. Be nice if someone with the money could revamp it. Keep the videos coming.
@@WalkWithMeTim was there a laundry room with washing machines and tumble dryers for all the bedding haha if ever you see a laundry room in a hotel try and video it for me please I love that sort of thing
I've said this before, but these old Grand Hotels are just too big with too many rooms. Back in the day when labour was a lot cheaper, they would probably have had hundreds of staff looking after the building and guests. They just can't do that now. I also dread to think what the cost would be to completely renovate such a large hotel, it is probably not even economically viable! I don't fully understand why Britannia even buy them, or what their long term intention is! Great review though, and yes, Llandudno is a truly lovely place😀
Maybe the land can be used to build on or the hotel converted into luxury flats after Britannia have proved the Hotels are beyond repair/unviable. They obviously don't care about bad reviews or the customer which isn't a good business plan if you wanted the Hotels to make profits. There's plenty of top notch B&B's at Llandudno-that's where I stay !
Plus staff earned more back then with tips. Sadly as cashless seems to be in favour thanks to pressure from banks and MSM, so many lose out now and tips are a thing of the past. It will all go to the hotel.
16:50 That's insanely concerning how damp and cracked the walls of that hotel are. That's how the condo building in Miami collapsed in 2021. I wouldn't stay in that hotel even if it was a free stay.
It used to be such an iconic hotel with a brilliant setting, I remember boats to the Isle of Man pulling into the pier, worked near the little orme and in those days Llandudno was the place to holiday, the town is still worth a visit and a great gateway to snowdonia
When Tim makes disparaging remarks you know it's bad! And £75 for the privilege! Such a shame - it could be so nice. All these old hotels deserve so much more. Thanks for staying in these places so we don't have to!
I stayed here for one night last July. It looks even worse now than when I stayed. I had a twin room which had a sea view which was stunning, but when I opened the balcony door there was a used nappy shoved up the corner. It's such a shame, because this hotel would be amazing if it only was shown 'a lot' of love.
It actually pains me to see such beautiful buildings like this in states like that. It would take alot of money to fix all of the damp issues and companies won't put that kind of money into them these days. A lick of paint would do wonders for it. That room with a new coat of paint, box of that pipe, clean the windows and fix the bed would do me for a weekend or a few days stay. It's such a shame
The Grand has been revamped several times over the decades - it's a great location in a beautiful town - but keeping on top of such a large sea-edge hotel seems to be beyond the means of the current owners. I sympathise with them a bit, but the costs of an effective programme of building management would surely be offset by the higher-than-average room rates this hotel could command.
I said Britannia straight away and saw I was right with the soap. Someone needs to buy them out and do up all their hotels! They have some hotels with massive potential on their books!
Many, many years ago, when I was a kid, my mum always packed a bottle of bleach and a bottle of disinfectant when we went on holiday because she did not trust anybody elses cleaning standards, regardless of where we stayed. It seems taking both bleach and disinfectant with you would definately be a good idea if you had the misfortune of finding yourself staying in a Britannia owned hotel or holiday park.
I'm more and more wondering what the story is behind these Britannia hotels. The impression I get for each of them is that _someone_ along the chain of responsibility cares about getting it back into shape, but they're not getting the (financial?) support they need for structural works, so they can't do much more than patching things up here and there. Perhaps it would be interesting to do a "the story behind" sort of video at some point, and dive into where the problem lies?
Nobody cares, the company is run by one man only, they have huge staffing and management turnover, carry out surface renovations but never really deal with issues such as roofs and structure which is why so often you see damp everywhere, all that matters is making a profit any way possible. Things like the linen trolleys and equipment being left out is because when they take over a hotel they will quite often turn storage rooms and linen rooms into guest bedrooms to squeeze as much out of a building as possible, as an environment to work in it very quickly sucks the life out of you as you are constantly battling the lack of staff and guest dissatisfaction.
I think people do care .. This company would be a good subject of an investigative documentary exposing their contribution to the decline of these once great majestic Seaside Hotels.
20:31 you had it spot on, they used to be so grand but no one cares. But the sad part is that these hotels could be grand once again. With the correct owner who actually wants to put the money into these hotels, they could be restored to beautiful classic hotels. This hotel in particular is somewhere I would love to stay simply due to its stunning views, but under Britannia ownership I wouldn't even think about even stepping through the door.
It heartbreaking to see these beautiful buildings left in such a state. I’ve stayed in quite a few of these places and they’re pretty much the same story.
It's a shame to see how this once vibrant hotel has decayed over the years. I remember watching a documentary on this hotel back in the day and it looked really nice.....the carpet in the lift on the wall was known as shag carpets, they were the bee's knees back in the early 70's 👌
I remember having a holiday in Llandudno as a child with my parents; We didn't stay in hotels, but ordinary well kept boarding houses that were simple yet neat clean, tidy and cheaper than hotels. We had some wonderful holidays without the expense of hotels.
We were in Llandudno this week (thankfully at another hotel) and were intrigued what this beautiful but clearly neglected hotel was like inside, thanks for the insight and hopefully saving others from booking there.
£75 for that tiny room? I guess what you're really paying for is the seaside location. It's a shame how such a grand looking building from the outside has been completely neglected. Windows are absolutely MINGING! 🤮 SORT IT OUT, BRITANNIA!
I stayed in Stornoway for work and it was definitely a lot better than that room but the only window was a tiny skylight and it cost £100 per night which was insane. Felt like I was in a prison cell
In the 90s I worked for a building company and we renovated the entire 4th floor in those days it catered for oap type holidays and was fully booked most of the year we were there about 5 weeks and that room you had was my room while I worked there ,it hasn't changed one bit!!😵💫👌
This used to be a hotel owned by Billy Butlin. Yes, grand in its day, but that was a good few years ago. Originally, it would have had next to no ensuite rooms, which is something everyone expects nowadays, even in the cheapest rooms. Hence the additional pipework. The hotel must been adapted many times since it opened. Good honest assessment of the facilities. You brought all the right things to light. Those windows were disgusting. I stayed in Llandudno a few years ago. I stayed at The Imperial. It was somewhere I'd always wanted to stay at and had a good tariff at the time. Maybe you could compare the two.
I was in Llandudno for a day trip with my sister and she showed me this hotel which she'd stayed in the past. We went onto one of the balconies where Tim went. It was extremely hot that day and the sea view was magnificent. When I went to the bar I noticed how old everything was and even if new it would still look awful as the hotel is very tired looking. It needs a complete overhaul. But bet they can't afford it! We went down to the ground floor overlooking the sea and it was quite shabby with a cheap and nasty looking cafe! I wouldn't stay there if they paid me! We then went to view another hotel further down from The Grand looking onto the promenade. The St George's hotel a very upmarket hotel completely immaculate. So different and more my style any day! We peaked into the dining room and they had the most wonderful setting with damask covered chairs and tables. That is how a real hotel should look! They also had their coffee afternoon tea section which to our disappointment was fully booked! Superb decor and if you check out their rooms online you'll be stunned by the quality! So if I stay over in this resort I'll be staying here for my creature comforts. and it is literally 1/2 a mile from the Grand Hotel.
I stayed here in December 2011 as a "baby moon" before our 4th child (called Tim!) was born. It certainly wasn't this bad then. I know I had one of the cheapest rooms and it had an enormous bathroom, complete with bath. I spent several happy days there relaxing by the sea. How sad to see what a decade of bad management can wreak.
I was very surprised to not hear you talk about how this used to be a Butlins Holiday Hotel. After Butlins decided to just concentrate on the camps, they sold the hotels to a company called Grand Hotels Limited who were subsequently bought out by Britannia. The Blackpool Metropole and Grand Hotel Scarborough were also old Butlins hotels and it doesn't seem they have changed much since then. Sadly the best 2 Butlins hotels, Ocean Hotel Brighton and Grand Hotel Margate, are both long gone with the former being luxury apartments and the later having being knocked down to build flats (an absolute scandal as it was an iconic building!). It would be cool to see you do a tour of all the remaining ex-Butlins hotels.
I think you should contact the Britannia group when you've done all their hotels and presentation outside their headquarters because this is ridiculous what they are doing to these buildings
When stayed at hotels there was always staff buzzing around, cleaning , changing bedware, etc. I didn't see anyone in this hotel. As someone else mentioned this hotel was built when the dozens of staff needed were cheap. And today the only staff that would still be cheap has gone away and stays away; East European EU cititzens.
I was going to stay here because I love grand Victorian buildings but decided against it after reading reviews and stayed at headlands hotel on the hill above it. It's a lot smaller but a lovely place and decorated in keeping with it's time, great breakfast and views too
I’ve stayed at Headlands quite a few times as it always used to accept dogs. Amazing views and lovely interior. The owner has gone to Australia I believe and the new guy is an Iraqi chap I believe. The old owner was hilarious - very outspoken Margaret Thatcher fanatic ! 🤭😆
Oh yikes. I was looking to book this hotel for a little solo break for my birthday next years. A shame really, if they decided to try and put some work into it, it could be a wonderful building. Thank you for visiting here before I booked for myself!
Hi Tim! Im currently fighting the flu so binge watching your videos as I rest. My mum, uncle and nan stayed at this hotel in 2016 and said the same: extremely grubby. Hope you and your family are well! Happy holidays!
The Grand Hotel has one of the best locations in Llandudno so it's such a shame that it's being run into the ground. It really brings down the tone of such a beautiful area. I'm from Llandudno originally and it's always been run down as long as I can remember. If I were to book a holiday in this hotel then I'd take one look at the place and walk right back out.
Fab video! I live locally and have always wanted to see inside. Such a shame it's in that state. When you're next in the area I highly recommend you try the galleon in rhos on sea for your best fish & chips shop search, you won't be disappointed!!
I love Llandudno, from childhood holidays and later trips, but I'd never seen inside the Grand Hotel despite admiring it from afar: thanks for such a thorough, balanced exploration. What a magnificent building, cruelly neglected. I well remember this standard of fittings and decor from cheap hotels in the 70s, but it's shocking to think what these surface indications say about the deep decay of the hotel itself. And in that location it could be so wonderful.
With regards to the damp; it’s hardly surprising given its proximity to the sea. In winter the whole hotel must be deluged in seawater almost constantly. That and the fact that it’s north Wales so will be incessantly raining in winter.
We was going to stay here about 10 years ago , the bloke on reception said I’ll show you a room before you decide which I thought was strange . 10 seconds of seeing it I was leaving , he must of know we wouldn’t like it and that was his way of telling us. If you’re in Llandudno on a weekend break a hotel like this can ruin your trip better off at a bnb much smaller and easier to maintain. These huge old hotels aren’t fit for purpose really , imagine this in another 10 years time it will need knocking down. Good fair review as always
The tap is a stopcock to turn the water off. Great video by the way. The room is tiny for the money. You did not miss much by not having the breakfast it's quite expensive for what you get.
One place I stayed that I wouldn’t recommend is The Huntsman in brockenhurst and it seems from the trip advisor reviews a lot of people agree. Ps love your videos keep up the good work and from staying at potters with family I totally agree it’s one of the best
I love Llandudno ❤, i stay at a lovely little B&B near that Hotel, omg it looks yukky🙈, such a shame as it is a Grand Old Building,it does need upgrading for sure, but there is NO EXCUSE for grubby rooms 🤮! Sack the cleaner's, ask the Manager would he/she be happy to stay there? No way! Ty for sharing ❤ it needs Alex Polizzi on the case! I would be walking right back out the main reception door!
The hotel was used in the film Yanks with Richard Gere. I slept here one night after a works Christmas do - slept right through a fire alarm in the middle of the night and no-one came to wake me up! It's a pretty hideous place and I wouldn't feel safe stepping on to any of the balconies either.
About half of the problems could be quickly fixed at next to no cost. Clean the windows, wipe down the dirty walls, touch up some of the paint. As-is, I would NOT take a room for FREE! As always, Tim’s video is excellent. What a pleasant and respectable person you are. no ripped jeans, ear rings, tattoos, and no sensationalism at all. You fit in everywhere and dress appropriately too!
I last stayed in that place in 1984, can even remember the room number 321. It was before Britannia took it over, it was owned by trust house forte. It seems from your video, it's as bad now as it was then. Nothing seems to have changed, it remains dated, grotty and neglected. If the right owners had that hotel, it could be turned into a stunning place, taking advantage of its stunning location
I stayed there with my parents when I was 13, 46 years ago. It was beautiful then. I took the last day trip to the Isle of Mann. The hotel was also featured in the film Yanks.
Thank goodness you visit these hotels so we don’t have to !! Plus as a head housekeeper myself I find them very interesting and informative from a guest perspective, love the videos keep them coming and many thanks !!
While it is sad to see how these old historic building are falling into disrepair and Brittanias mismanagement is worsening their decline, I think it was honestly inevitable for many of these buildings with or without Brittania. Seaside location and old huge buildings are always going to end in destruction unless massive amounts of cash are injected to their upkeep, which might not be a sound investment for most businesses. I certainly think there should be an effort to maintain these buildings (with or without Brittania) but unfortunately the fiscal reality of that is grim these days
Yes. Perhaps. I do sympathise with Britannia and they do not hide that they are the budget end. It's hard to know whether a more expensive premium product would be worthwhile, or whether these grand places have had there day.
This is 5 🌟 compared to good ol' Blackpool! As for creaky floors, try the Quality Friendly Hotel in Loughborough... 🤦♂️.. it's ridiculous! Gotta say I'm loving these videos though 😂.. and I'll always love Wales! ♥ 😁
Hi tim! You should do a tour of Leeds castle in Kent! There’s so much history and natural walks and even segways! You can also go inside the castle and down into the wine cellar!
Yup, I can tell already it's going to be a case of a massive hotel, built in a time when holiday habits were quite different, now struggling to keep going considering its size etc, in this age of foreign holidays etc.
At least an up to date modern Travelodge will offer all modern amenities. The costs to run these old buildings are astronomical. And a chain is better able to weather the financial storms. Plus, when you book a budget chain you really do know what you are getting. ( and in most cases are satisfied).
@@Greylobster I guess it’s a cost benefit analysis based on how much heritage the building has. Right now it looks like it’s just being slowly run down and Britannia clearly can’t afford the cash injection it needs to prevent that.
@@Fluffykeith Whilst i am sure it would cost a fortune to renovate those hotels, when the problems are things like basic cleaning, it feels like they just don't care. If money was the issue, instead of buying more and more, creating a huge portfilio of disgustion hotels, why not get the ones you have up to scratch? They are clearly not bothered about their reputation. I can think of at least 4 of them within 6 miles of where I live, 2 of which Tim has been to, and they are all the same. One of them, The Metropole received a damning hygeine inspection and then closed to house asylum seekers. Wonder what they make of it! The Grand Hotel (Blackpool) offered its rooms as pop up Covid wards. Just cant help thinking they were hopIng NHSwould clean the place up for them!
Stayed twice for special midweek entertainment. First time back room the second a view at the front with balcony. Rooms old but acceptable, entertainment first class, the food excellent with service. Then it was around £25 for three nights special. Around £25 for 3 nights around 2007. 👍
You should review the cliffs hotel Blackpool. It's a 2-star hotel, however, the rooms are a big let-down. The bathrooms are really old, small and dirty and the rooms are of poor quality. I have stayed at the Cliffs several times over the years but, never again. It would make an interesting review for you.
between 10 to 15 years ago I went to llandudno for a friends stag do and it was well dumpy it reminded us of the hotel paradiso from bottom it was a dive I had nothing do with where we stayed but it was only a weekend so we all survived.
Older hotels do tend to have a lot of old pipes. It looks like the whole place needs ventilation, some cleaning & a coat of paint. Maybe spraying with silicone on the outside to help exclude damp.
Hi Tim, You really ARE a very brave young man - I can honestly say that even a substantial amount of money would NOT bribe me into staying in that total dump. Yet again, Britannia score top marks for dirty, damp, depressing, old and utterly unbearable. I know for a fact that the Hospitality trade organisations in the U K regard that company as a total embarrassment and stain on their industry. Damp at THAT level is a health hazard and the environmental health inspectorate at the local council need to view this video. I advise as many subscribers as possible send it through to them. I hope you didn't pick up anything nasty in there - 😵
I'm from Llandudno and this hotel was where my mum worked in the late 70's/early 80's. It was owned by Trust House Forte back then before being taken over by Butlins. Her office was on overlooking the pier and sea (around 1m15s in to video). Very Grand, but fallen from it's peak. Would still love to stay here though.
Little bit sad really, these grand old hotels past their glamour days and probably not viable to renovate. All the pipes you can see are due to ensuite bathrooms which were never part of the original plan. Back in the day there would have been a basin in the room and nothing else, you would have to go down the hall for a shared bathroom and toilet.
Brittannia hotels have an absolutely winning idea, despite being regarded consistently the worst filthy hotels in the UK, people still book in regardless. And if standards do drop further they fill them will illegal immigrants full board paid for by the UK Taxpayer.......
Where I first encountered the likes of greats like Ian Wood and Jamie Stewart-Moore, who arrived just in time for the last day of the legendary Desmond Dunphy course. Those were the days, my friends. I made the mistake of thinking they would never end
Love these videos!! Silly as it sounds, there's something relaxing about finishing a long day and unwinding watching the Britannia hotel reviews- I find it very cathartic and oddly comforting 🤣
The place clearly started out as a borderline luxury hotel but they've obviously let it fall apart. It's a shame. Fix it up and clean it up and you can use it as an old school theme based hotel where you play into its age.
I was told recently it is common practice for girls to boil their knickers in the kettle. Hence we purchased a very cheap kettle and we take that and our own water with us to hotels. I'm in Australia so obviously happens everywhere. How disgusting are some people?
30 years ago tomorrow I started work at the grand... First off 3 stints there when it was owned by butlins. Hotel was fairly well kept back then its a shame to see the state it is in now
Thank you for this Tim. I have always wondered about this hotel. You've covered it succinctly. Absolutely disgusting. I'd rather stay at Pontins Prestatyn!!!!
As far apart from GRAND as is possible!! Never liked the look of that place. A health and safety hazard just waiting to happen just like the fire it had many decades ago!! Such a shame the place can't be refurbished to a high standard because of its location. Love Llandudno and not too far from me 👍
Stunning building and a shame to see it a bit neglected, but like you said looks like they are trying to improve it. You’ve made me want to go to Llandudno, looks lovely.
I stayed here with my family (around 20 plus members) in 2003. Had the worst time ever as the hotel had the norovirus. We all caught it. That’s my reason for never forgetting this hotel from hell. Knock it down it’s a joke it’s still around. It’s demonic.
Thanks for this review I was just about to book a holiday with coach travel company and it is for this hotel. I hadn't done these coach holidays until 2 weeks ago but my papa used to do them all the time in the 80s and 90s and then my parents when dad wasn't able to drive and they enjoyed them so now I'm older I thought I'd give it a go. So I went on my first 2 weeks ago in Arrocher and I wasn't chuffed with that hotel and right away extra £60 single person room supplement so paying extra for a old dirty room and for the privilege of having your own toilet but crushed between wall and shower cubicle wall sitting on pan not having room to even wipe yourself and shower door overlapped by sink and disabled handle and door fold meaning only a tiny space to get in and out of shower (disabled room as I have mobility problems) And as for shower cubicle itself dirty and no room to move if you're a size 18 plus no chance of comfort don't drop the soap. So I was wanting to book another holiday with the same company and it is this hotel here but since watching this no way and I might add these holidays aren't that cheap especially when you pay extra for single room supplement to have rooms with beds along minging stained dirty walls and dirty tiny crushed in bathrooms etc I just thought am a single traveller that doesn't drive so a coach holiday is the bee's knees as I broke my back and was house bound for 3 years including COVID 4 wall syndrome set in and I want to get back out there but my confidence took a bashing so coach holiday I thought the best does everything for you including traveling to and from, hotel stay, entertainment, excursions but first one 2 weeks ago had been a one time beautiful mansion hotel overlooking Loch Long but run down and neglected. I was about to book this place and decided to Google it found your vid so thanks you've just saved me a lot of money and by the way the bus company paints this hotel in gold leaf sparkly letters certainly not the dive you are proving it to be. I'll check out the other 2 Llandudno hotels they're offering just in case thanks.
This hotel looks bloody awful on the outside I can’t wait to see what it looks like on the inside lol !! Such a shame that Llandudno is a beautiful place but there’s no amazing hotels
American terrible motels are totally worse than that. That’s at least pretty. The ones here in the Midwest we’ve got roofs falling in and walls so wet your hands go through whatever the walls made out of. Beds are bed bug filled and the blood/vomit is everywhere you can imagine.

They obviously don't care about bad reviews or the customer which isn't a good business plan if you wanted the Hotels to make profits. There's plenty of top notch B&B's at Llandudno-that's where I stay !
Their plan is to run them down so they can get the buildings condemned and sell the land for demolition and building flats.
Maximum profit for minimum effort for as long as possible.
It has the best position in Llandudno, the veuws are amazing.
I've never seen such a depressing hotel room. The bathroom makes me want to cry.
Personally, I would have declined the room, as you say it was depressing! The only way it would look nice is in pitch black darkness
@@texano1957 Right! No way am I paying for that!
Makes my blood boil every time I walk past this hotel as each time the condition worsens and no one seems to care.
Can thank Britannia for that, shouldnt be able to continue doing this to brilliant historic buildings
I stayed here for one night last July. It looks even worse now than when I stayed. I had a twin room which had a sea view which was stunning, but when I opened the balcony door there was a used nappy shoved up the corner. It's such a shame, because this hotel would be amazing if it only was shown 'a lot' of love.
ha ha,the nappy comment made me laugh
A 'lot of love' would probably cost milions! 😔
Mine was doing the same😅
A great pity when these lovely old hotels fall into such disrepair.
The Daily Mail did an article about the owner this year, Alex Langsam. Horrifying.
I live 20 miles from here, and I've always thought, "I wish Walk With Me Tim would review this hotel". Love your content, mate. Keep it up.
Thanks a ton!
SORT IT OUT, BRITANNIA!
That's cheap for Llandudno!! It is getting more and more expensive for there to stay.
I stayed in Stornoway for work and it was definitely a lot better than that room but the only window was a tiny skylight and it cost £100 per night which was insane. Felt like I was in a prison cell
I’ve paid less for a better room at a Premier Inn; and that was at Heathrow and Fulham as well.
@@xr6lad yeah Premier Inn is pretty good actually! Always pleasantly surprised because I always go in with low expectations for some reason
If you book after about 5.30pm you can get it for about 35, it's real value.
What a horrible grubby room 🙈shocking they are “allowed” to let them out like this. Thank you for sharing your experience with us.
What is a “baby moon”? A short honeymoon?
@@telstar32 It's just a holiday before the baby's born and the chaos starts ;)
Why are Britannia allowed to even operate as a company?
That's disgusting.... As a customer I would demand my money back. Rather sleep in a local park!!!
Thanks Tim, you're doing a fine job of keeping us informed, I really look forward to your new videos
thanks Geoff
Very interesting video as always! Has any employee / manager ever seen their hotel featured on your 'worst rated' series and commented?
yes I meet one yesterday! lol for a video that's coming up
I was going to stay here because I love grand Victorian buildings but decided against it after reading reviews and stayed at headlands hotel on the hill above it.
Thank you for visiting here before I booked for myself!
try the premier rooms
Hi Tim- you need to buy a UV torch to clinically inspect these hotel rooms.... I shudder to think what would glow up after dark!
🤢
Oh no please don't 😂 funny how the door handle had been sanitised. What about everything else? 😂
Love this series. Thanks!!
With regards to the damp; it’s hardly surprising given its proximity to the sea. In winter the whole hotel must be deluged in seawater almost constantly. That and the fact that it’s north Wales so will be incessantly raining in winter.
Compare that to the new Tudno Castle that’s been built by Premier Inn in the town centre, it’s even designed to fit in with existing architecture.
I remember staying there with my family and me mum complained about the room and the receptionist said “what do you want me to do about it”
The tap is a stopcock to turn the water off.
13:10-13:13 Imagine coming up the stairs drunk and in the dark and then seeing that statue for the first time!
Hi Tim, I've recently found your channel in the last week and I think I've binged watched every episode 🤣 great content 👏
thanks Alisha! welcome to the family
That bedroom is so claustrophobic! I’ve been excited for you to visit this hotel
Yuk - Wild horses wouldn't drag me there! It made me feel quite queasy. Well done Tim for surviving that hell hole.
lol
I stayed there with my parents when I was 13, 46 years ago. It was beautiful then. I took the last day trip to the Isle of Mann. The hotel was also featured in the film Yanks.
Used to go here with my family as a kid, it was amazing, ashame they let it go down the drain 😔
I know this was so grand once apon a time
Thank goodness you visit these hotels so we don’t have to !!
Plus as a head housekeeper myself I find them very interesting and informative from a guest perspective, love the videos keep them coming and many thanks !!
thanks Anthony
Such a beautiful old building and tragic to see it being neglected
It would make an interesting review for you.
thanks for the tip
between 10 to 15 years ago I went to llandudno for a friends stag do and it was well dumpy it reminded us of the hotel paradiso from bottom it was a dive I had nothing do with where we stayed but it was only a weekend so we all survived.
Older hotels do tend to have a lot of old pipes. It looks like the whole place needs ventilation, some cleaning & a coat of paint. Maybe spraying with silicone on the outside to help exclude damp.
Hi Tim,
You really ARE a very brave young man - I can honestly say that even a substantial amount of money would NOT bribe me into staying in that total dump.
I hope you didn't pick up anything nasty in there - 😵
I hope not! lol
Imagine if you went into some of these rooms with a blacklight!!🤢
dont
Lol@@WalkWithMeTim
Silly as it sounds, there's something relaxing about finishing a long day and unwinding watching the Britannia hotel reviews- I find it very cathartic and oddly comforting 🤣
lol
You're the best hotel critic, Tim! Excellent evaluation always. No sugar coating and will definitely give honest review 👍
The place clearly started out as a borderline luxury hotel but they've obviously let it fall apart. It's a shame. Fix it up and clean it up and you can use it as an old school theme based hotel where you play into its age.
Agatha Christie
They died with the damp in the bedding trolleys
14:41 woman’s voice say what, but no one there when he looked into the green light before getting into lift 😮
I was told recently it is common practice for girls to boil their knickers in the kettle. Hence we purchased a very cheap kettle and we take that and our own water with us to hotels. I'm in Australia so obviously happens everywhere. How disgusting are some people?
🤢
The squeaking door just after he said the hotel feels spooky 🤣
i love llandudno - was there on business - this hotel looks amazing- if you cant see that - well - oh dear
No that Pointins is gross
@@fionacameron9710 It was a sarcastic comment because the very fact it IS GROSS you're right!!!!!
It's such a shame that things have been neglected thanks Tim enjoyed the tour I will look forward to the next Yvonne 😊
So I went on my first 2 weeks ago in Arrocher and I wasn't chuffed with that hotel and right away extra £60 single person room supplement so paying extra for a old dirty room and for the privilege of having your own toilet but crushed between wall and shower cubicle wall sitting on pan not having room to even wipe yourself and shower door overlapped by sink and disabled handle and door fold meaning only a tiny space to get in and out of shower (disabled room as I have mobility problems)
And as for shower cubicle itself dirty and no room to move if you're a size 18 plus no chance of comfort don't drop the soap.
So I was wanting to book another holiday with the same company and it is this hotel here but since watching this no way and I might add these holidays aren't that cheap especially when you pay extra for single room supplement to have rooms with beds along minging stained dirty walls and dirty tiny crushed in bathrooms etc
I just thought am a single traveller that doesn't drive so a coach holiday is the bee's knees as I broke my back and was house bound for 3 years including COVID 4 wall syndrome set in and I want to get back out there but my confidence took a bashing so coach holiday I thought the best does everything for you including traveling to and from, hotel stay, entertainment, excursions but first one 2 weeks ago had been a one time beautiful mansion hotel overlooking Loch Long but run down and neglected.
