Brother, I have 30 years in trucking. You MUST factor in tires, preventative maintenance, scheduled maintenance, and the devil of unscheduled maintenance. If you have a rookie driver, you see higher maintenance. At the end of the day, you are barely breaking even. Here are some horror stories I have had with drivers in the last 30 years. A Jack knife in California Truckee, towing and recovery $8000. Engine failure in El Paso TX, $26000 for a rebuild., Theroking Reefer repair $6000. The list is endless and unpredictable. If I knew what I know now, I would have been better off, buying trucks, and selling them to drivers under a lease purchase, so as to avoid these unforeseen expenses on the company. Pay close attention to what I have said. May God bless you, and Good Luck. Shalom.
Brothers need to really educate themselves I know exactly where you coming from I've been in this business for 30 years. These are not the real hard numbers he is posting. That 1100 is more like 300-400 at the end of the day. I would rather drive for a company for that

@@tristannutall2129 you think he is talking about company drivers making $1100 a day? I promise you he is not. Also like the guy said above $5500 is not very good, it’s not terrible but you better up it pretty quick or you gonna fail. For instance a tank of fuel is $900 and that will last you about two days.
Lol well common sense would tell me he is not talking about company drivers. And if $900 in fuel last you two days you need a new truck. Cost $700 fuel for me and it last around 5 days going from Memphis to Nashville .But $5500 a week local is great with a paid off truck. @Mine trucking is not rocket science it’s pretty easy once you get it going. This man basically showed you his breakdown with his driver and it’s making profit and haven’t left yet. I've been in this industry for almost 30 years owning your own truck is not worth it long term especially if you only have one truck. Educate yourself before jumping into your own truck put down the hard numbers
And that’s why you failed or will fail cuz your mindset is set only on 1 truck rather than running multiple trucks. Being your own boss is more rewarding than working for another man. Think bigger

A wise trucker once told me if he wasn’t going to make $1,500 for the day the job wasn’t worth it. When his truck moves (and it always moving) you know without a doubt he’s making a profit. Great information being dropped here! I am curious, are you factoring this as a truck driver dispatching for himself or as a dispatcher do we need to be deducting these numbers as well?
Waddup David, quick question. If I wanted to build up my business credit to buy a dump truck , even tho as of this second I don’t have a business set up, do you think that’s possible? & also, can I build my business credit thru a credit card without having to show forms of income? Like basically I want to get a credit card thru my business name and build it that way. I’m pretty sure I can get a secured business credit card but how do I do that after I’ve applied for my LLC?
Build up your personal credit to 750 or better. Needs to be in the 700s for better approval odds. When I opened my business checking account that’s when I was asked if I wanted to apply for the business card. All they did was ask how much I thought the business would make, no proof and checked my personal credit. Then told me I was approved right there for $9k. The next business did the same thing and approved for $16k. I also bought my truck on credit too. It can be done. Need great personal credit though.
Hey Mr. McGill, why is it when I clicked on the RTS link in your description, I get someone not associated with you reaching out? I specifically clicked on your link to work with you. You feel me? For example, I didnt click on Tow Piglets link when I saw it first. I clicked on yours for a reason.
Hey David great video man! I wanted to ask once I do become an owner operator can I call different distributors/companies to see if they have dedicated runs available for me or how exactly can I find dedicated lanes as a owner operator? Thanks again

Hey Mr. McGill, why is it when I clicked on the RTS link in your description, I get someone not associated with you reaching out? I specifically clicked on your link to work with you. You feel me? For example, I didnt click on Tow Piglets link when I saw it first. I clicked on yours for a reason.
I don’t work for RTS. You can use my affiliate to work with RTS. Disclaimer: if you use my affiliate, I’ll get a commission from RTS.
