"I believe we had this idea to record a new version of “Pisces” when we first rehearsed the song with Vlad Ulasevich as a new drummer. His drumming makes the song sound really different. So we finally had some free time last winter, we went to Istok studio in Kiev, did a live recording and shooting, then added over some extra lines, like a few backing vocals and guitars, then Max from Morton Studio made this new magnificent version of mixing and here we are - Pisces video. I hope you will enjoy it!"

For her screams she uses her 'false vocal folds', which is how she can switch back and forth without damage to her normal vocal cords. Truly amazing. 🤘🔥🤘
Yeah, the odd doubling there but I'd say 90% her...do a react to "JINJER - Perennial (Live at Wacken Open Air 2019)" for a live open air performance. Good analysis. Some of the best by anyone who isn't a metal vocalist themselves. Subbed. Skepticism is healthy. For my part I dug into their back catalogue of live videos and early bootlegs, especially tiny shows where it would be harder to pull something tricky without someone noticing. The only thing in this she can't do live (or at least doesn't do - she says she's afraid of messing it up) is that she needs about an extra second switching from growls to belting - live she growls that part, for example in the Wacken video of this song.
Jake Bronner did a superb analysis in the comments here. I agree that range doesn't really apply. It isn't so much range as a totally separate vocal technique. It is making sounds with tissues that normally just close the throat against exhalation to create internal pressure in the abdomen. It requires years of practice to not sound feeble and Tatiana practiced for 4 years before starting to use the technique in performances in 2009. First video we have on YT is a bootleg of Destroy from 2011. 2012 there is a really good bootleg of them covering Lamb Of God that was uploaded by NosSam. Even then she was epic but her control and power have steadily improved as have the richness of her cleans. Neither is really good enough quality to react to - maybe the NosSam video, but I mostly offer them as reality checks if you'd like one without spoiling a bunch of reaction-worthy videos.
Perennial live at Wacken is pretty close to the live sound when comparing to bootlegs of that show that were posted on YT by PetriAz - they added some very light layering to her vocals in at least one place. Who Is Gonna Be The One official live is very raw but has great sound quality. Generally their concert performance videos make the best reactions. Cheers!
her voice is layered thats all its her singing clean and its her doing the extreme singing. she is that good.
I noticed very lately that in the third verse starting with "Neptunes child.." there's a layer of whispering behind it, which increases the contrast between min and max even further.
Missed it the 60 times before, so the new headset already payed out.
You might want to see "Who is going to be the one"(Official live), "Perennial" (live at Wacken), and "Judgement and Punishment" (One take vocal).
Can't say if they lowered it for this recording as a stylistic choice, but I can guarantee you that she does not need it to do some seriously low growls, and yes, she can and does actually make those sounds. Her name is Tatiana, Roman on the guitar, Eugene on the bass and Vlad on the drums, and all four of them are incredibly talented. They are from Ukraine, the former three of them from the now occupied parts in the east, and they fled their home in order to continue to make music. At the time they were basically no names and on tour ever since they fled, with several hundred shows in the last couple years alone, right until covid came along, which was their longest break from touring. This song is a re-recording of an older song to show off their (at the time) new drummer, who made the song sound quite a bit differently. It then went viral on reaction channels, giving them a lot of exposure, and now they're exploding within the metal community, who appreciates their talent (and this is far from being their best song). I drop my usual recommendations, but I suggest to go with Perennial live at Wacken for the next one, to eradicate any doubts about her vocal capabilities.

I also want to spread some more love for another grossly underrated band: Infected Rain, with their vocalist Lena Scissorhands. I'd start with Orphan Soul, Black Gold, Enslaved by a Dream, and Mold.

Some minor effects in certain parts. But Tatiana can do the low growls live, and turn it on and off at will. I love her singing, and this band.

Truth
I truly love when musical people react to Jinjer and go beyond the shock factor of her voice (as delicious as it is!). This tells me that they are going to love this band once they go into their discography a little further. Usually the next progression song is “who’s going to be the one?” Live For those that don’t believe she can sing this way. Or “Perennial live at Wakken “ for the performance factor. After that it really doesn’t matter bc most likely you’ll be hooked!!! Great reaction keep it up subbed.

Around 12:30, you wondered aloud if you can make two different sounds at once. Have you ever heard of Tuvan throat singing? It seems to me like it's fairly related.
Yes, there are overdubs, but the fact that she can layer a low growl and a high growl to make it sound fuller is actually quite impressive as well!
What you’re hearing is really from Tatiana! And if you might like to hear one of their really live recordings, I can totally vouch for “Who’s Gonna to Be the One” (live) and “Perennial” (live from Wacken).
PS And just as a preemptive heads-up: If you might like to pronounce “Wacken” like the locals, one would say “Vah-ken.” (In German, “W” is pronounced like a “V” is in English.) I’m only mentioning that part just since most folks seem to stumble over that one a bit.

Saw these live about a year ago. They were phenomenal. Yes that is her voice, she has amazing range.

You can see her growling like this in all kinds of live shows and you should! Haha my favorite is “who is gonna be the one” live, siiiick vocals in that one. And you know this isn’t fake, if you know anything about metal you KNOW metalheads would never let them get away with faking this, you know this
In a few interviews Tatiana has said she prefers the growls to her cleans (if she had to choose which voice to keep). That’s all her, including the other tracks used to double the vocal sound. Like others have said, this is nothing compared to other Jinger songs. “Sit, Stay, Roll Over”, “Words of Wisdom “, “Who’s Gonna Be The One “, Captain Clock -Resurrectionfest “, “Retrospection-live in Kiev“, “On The Top “, “Perennial-live Wacken”, “Ape”, and so many more should be on your playlist. Pisces was the bands way of introducing Vlad as their new drummer, they remade it for him. Also check out the “One Take Vocal of Judgement and Punishment” for a closeup of Tatiana doing her thing.

Yes, there is doubling and echo. Both of clean and growling. Which is a bit deceptive. But, it is actually her. It is only improving the result a bit.

The growls aren't doubled. There are multiple frequency components due to using the ventricular folds, which can actually flap to make multiple pitches. Used in some traditional Asian throat singing, for example (Tuvan, Mongolian). Anyway, yeah, there's some doubling in spots on the cleans, but not the growls. IMHO.
I find it funny watching reactions when people are perplexed by the fact they have never heard women do this. There’s been so many women doing this for years, I’m a huge Otep and Arch Enemy fan. But good reaction mate. Tatiana is such an amazing vocalist but ultimately they are just a super talented band with so many influences. One of my favourite bands on the planet.
Yep, beauty is a beast! Tati can flip vocal modes on a dime and get nine cents change. There is some post, adding the doubling on the last words of each chorus line and various other places. In this case, tho, it's not a "pitch shifted" doubling, but her higher scream mode overdubbed in post. Check this tune for an up close look at her methods....

I've heard vocal coaches say that was an E5 belt towards the end. About as high as belting gets.
It's called a false fold scream. Anyone can do it with some practice. She's put in quite a bit of work to get her technique down. Watch the live version of "Perennial" to see her flip back and forth on the fly. It's impressive.

The thing you said about the lows and direct changes on 9:23 can be comprobed at "Perennial Live at Wacken 2019" at 2:15 or "Restrospection Live at Melbourne" 2:51,

When you want to see more of the deep woman voices you need to react to arch enemy ,the agonist or infected rain for sure
Yes she can, and there are other women in metal who do this, including Floor Jansen. It's a false cord technique, so women can get as deep as a man with this technique and there's no strain on the vocal cords. This lets them switch up between cleans and growls with no apparent effort.

There is some double tracking on the vocal (probably recorded afterwards), but not "effects". She can really do this live. Great song, but not even close to being one of their best.

Sad to say (and I don't know why they did this, because she really does have that range) but this literally is just the studio version of the song, it's not live at all. You can hear an actual live version of this performance at festivals like Wacken, if you look and it sounds just as good.
