the dropping of "his" on "shall live by his faith" would imply that they could live by someone else faith, which doesnt make sense for me. Could it be that after the first instance in Habakkuk God thought adding the "his" was redundant since "living by faith" its implyed that the faith its from yourself, so he removed it? This would match with the second instance that goes "as it is written" implying that both have the same meaning
