    Sure. I'm a month late:
    Transition Zone 7 here, Bermuda Turf.
    WINDY most of the year. I mean, windy. Most. of the. Year.
    First time struggling with dry spots, and finally found it: the metal oscillating sprinkler has two nozzles that have low-pressure output. Ugh! Frustration. The search for the perfect small-yard and side-strip sprinkler continues to this day.

    Maybe one of the first times I watched one of your videos and felt better about my yard. I was able to sink my soil probe 14” into the ground in multiple spots in my yard the other day while checking root depth. 6-10” of root depth if you were wondering.

    I've used this product a few times before and really like it. It's sodium laurel sulfate. You'll hear some gardeners talk about using hydrogen peroxide to get oxygen/air bubbles down into the soil and break it up, especially if you have a fungus. However hydrogen peroxide would kill your grass, thereby making this the next best option.

      Sometimes soil goes hydrophobic and just won’t absorb water - maybe you’d prefer to dig the patch up, amend with better soil/compost etc, then repair the patch? Often these products can help *save* water usage overall too!

    • @rey3472
      @rey3472 2 роки тому

      Holes punched far apart as is done via an aerator does not improve water infiltration. Aeration is a misprescribed and oversold practice. Spot treatment of hydrophobic spots with a wetting agent is an established practice on golf courses and sports fields. Also done by knowledgeable turf professionals. Aeration is a very expensive and disruptive practice as far as the use of the turf areas is concerned. Pull up plugs? Where do the cores go? How do the cores get picked up? How long does the area need to be taken out of use to let the turf heal?

      @@stedly Florida has high humidity, plenty of rainfall and no caliche. I am in southeastern New Mexico.
      In truth I have grown two pretty outstanding lawns thus far in my time here, neither were any small feat. Recently we moved to a ten acre plot where the challenge has grown substantially.
      In most places you should really begin working on your lawn several months before planting it, here, your timeline should be stretched substantially. Soil must be built from scratch, sulfur must be applied liberally and timing has to be nearly perfect.
      One of our major hurdles though is our wind. When you have unrelenting winds coupled with extremely low humidity you can actually watch your soil desiccate with a hose in your hand, it’s like trying to water with a hair dryer blowing across your land.

    • @stedly
      @stedly 2 роки тому

      @@patriotsandtyrants That sounds very challenging and it seems impressive you're able to get two outstanding lawns. I'm right in the middle of the states, and have a hard clay type of soil with a mix of cool season and warm grasses. Just started trying to repair 2 lawns, one with all the weeds and full of shade. The other with very little shade and getting infested with creeping charlie. Theres definitely a lot of personal research I'm doing on the matter. Ryan Knorr seems to have the most easy to watch lawntube content that doesn't involve an obsessive amount of bermuda grass.
