I wasted money having my windshield tinted because I was pulled over two weeks later by a FHP Officer who gave me a fix-it ticket. For those who may not know what that is, It's ticket that gives you so many days to remove the tint.
@@SSBisboy That isn't how it works, You have to have an officer inspect your vehicle to make sure it was removed. And some say, just re-tint it afterwards. But, the thing is, once you're given a citation, whether it be a fix-it ticker) or the $116 fine, or whatever it is, it is in their system, so if you're pulled over again and you've re-tinted your windshield, or the other windows with illegal tent, then you receive another citation that you're not going to get out of, and from there things will/can get worse, I believe it can even affect your insurance premiums seeing they see it as a driving hazard.
It's only illegal if you get caught. But when you have the money for the ticket and the cops in town probably come to your events you might as well run it!
Don't be this clueless to think because you can "still see out" is proof you didn't go too dark on the film of your windshield. Everyone that has driven a vehicle with aftermarket window film has failed to see a possible threat that they would have noticed had their glass not had been tinted. Too many customers want their glass tinted "limo-ed out" without understanding the dangers they will cause to the life of others. Most fatalities of pedestrians being struck by a vehicle happen at night. When you cut the windshield visibility by 50% with adding film to the glass you usually end up with 45% visibility because the auto glass in todays vehicles have solar glass from factory which is 70% visibility. Most all windshields have a green or blue tint added in the inner liner of the laminated safety glass to cut down on being blinded by bright lights so that also affects visibility at night. 5% visibility film on the side glass is no that big of a deal as long as the rear glass has at least 15-20% visibility and the windshield has at least 60% visibility. If you want tint to block out the UV rays and the inferred light that can be done with almost clear films. The biggest issue I see with tint being past legal laws is the liability if you are involved in a car wreck. Even if you are not at fault for the wreck you could suffer responsibility for the cost of damages. Insurance companies are looking for any reason they can use to get out of covering their customers policies. Adding window film even within the limits of the law is one of the most successful tactics being used in today's time. Also I've seen cases that the vehicle's owner has won lawsuits against the party that installed the window film. That's why I have my tint customers sign off on understanding the risks involved on adding any window film no matter the darkness because even clear film can pose a danger after the life of the film from scratches and de-laming when the film breaks down from natural causes.
Down here in Florida, most have front windshield tint and it's easy to see out of it, remember what u see from the outside isn't the same from the inside
