For the paint: Invite out either some local schools, graffiti artists, or businesses and give them each a section to paint or sponsor. Tell them the base layer has to be done over in the same color but they can do the top layers however they like(Pre approved designs). That way you can get the community involved (free publicity) and keep costs down(free labor).

Paint specialist here: I recommend you scrape the loosest stuff off the walls before painting. New paint won't bond old paint back to the wall. Use a concrete primer on the bare concrete, and there's heavy duty outdoor paints that would work well for that project but aren't crazy expensive. That's the best way to have the longest-lasting final product. Sherwin Williams provides paint for the Golden Gate bridge and the Whitehouse. They'll have what you need.
This Sherwin guy sounds like a go-getter. Does he do RV's? I need my roof redone.

As you are applying it, it will wet the loose stuff and it will delaminate
the old stuff.done properly it will last for years.and look good while doing it.The painting is the easy part. It's doing the proper prep that most people neglect.

The walls would look good white with an alternating red/blue 8" tall stripe all the way around the top. The stripe color should change every 20'. It would be very visible and help racers judge their speed.
The steering shaft needs to be detached from the rack turned straight and then reattached. Had this problem in my 03 gt took all of 10 minutes to correct with the tubular k. Hell yeah brother!
Aaron Wilson nope, just needs to be realigned, the alignment is way off. unfortunately, doing that with the steering shaft will not do anything!

Idea for your bleachers or rather the stairs: let the people "buy" the stair pieces and sandblast their names in.I saw something like that on a metal festival (small one ) and thought it was cool.

Petco Park in San Diego did the same thing...people spend hundreds of dollars to buy one brick with their names on them...they built the floor with the bricks around a Tony Gwynn statue!
That would be an easy way to generate repair money.
Also a third option to be included with wood and Alum bleachers... why not use that Poly stuff that lasts 20 years or more. I know the sun and heat gets bad at times so it’ll be cooler than the Alum!

I can only imagine the amount of money that is being spent to get this track back up to operating condition. I think you should do a video after all the updates/fixes are done and give people an idea just how much it cost to get the track back up and running. Love the videos, keep doing is for Dale!
I used to race motorcycles and I think the white and black painted walls with a touch of red to separate them is easier on the eyes at speed. It won't blur as much as some other color combinations might which helps the drivers differentiate differences in speed. (which is helpful on entry to corners).
I agree - then stencil the FF logo and paint that blue in the middle of the black sections! Will look super clean.
I never raced on a track with walls (the desert is a bit big to put up walls) but I can see how what you are saying is logical. A regular pattern perhaps painted STARTING at the turn entry and going backward on the track could help people get their bearings. Changing the pattern at the turn entrance would also help to let the drivers gauge where they are and their speed. Two thumbs up!

I was thinking keep the pattern that's there, and just make the black section blue. But keeping it black and putting a nice blue ff logo would be great.

Exactly, if they make some money off this first PPV their efforts deserve it and the track needs to get money thrown into it to start sorting it for the future, it's 100 of thousands easily. Not to mention running costs of the event itself, shit will get serious when they start having crowds, medical and fire staff and as well as security - massive investment to undertake.

You might consider re-using the water from sink drains to fill the toilets (grey-water) it could cut the sewage-flow-rate by 30%
I imagine that soap buildup would contribute to more toilet maintenance though.
Some towns make you get a chlorination system to do so.
@@nostranger2u you only supply certain soap, that biodegrades quickly, and a holding tank will collect the sludge, that has to be pumped out
I agree you can get that soap. But it’s usually twice as much so you’re no longer savings money. Just the environment and only marginally. And judging by the cars they drive. Don’t think they care to much lol

AFAIK their regular soap already goes into the leech field/pond so that's no different from how it is now, it would just have the benefit of reducing sewage quantity so they don't have to upgrade the pumps or go to larger tanks. just give the grey system a decent sized settling tank to let anything solid come out and improve clarity before it goes to the toilets.
Also, is there a such thing as soap scum with liquid handsoap? I didn't think so but maybe there is. Might be a little gross if someone pukes in a sink though (it would be extremely diluted so its hard to say if it could be smelled when flushing a toilet with water from a 500 gallon tank that had 1 person's puke in it)
Paint over it with the same colors and then get a large 5 star stencil and paint 'freedom blue' stars over the white.
You should stencil “Do it for Dale” on the straight away wall!
Also needs a square in the middle of the tight turn painted neon pink or similar with 'WALL TAP HERE' written on it for when things get really rowdy and people start drifting right up at the top of the bank, see cars rolling around with a bright ass scrape on the rear bumper, wearing it with pride

I really like the blue on blue aesthetic on the freedom factory logo. The whole racetrack doesn't have to be red, white and blue, just ensure there's a flag within eyeshot no matter where you are in the place.
as someone whos painted for the past 15 years i'd suggest you at the very least do a light pressure wash to knock the loose stuff off so it doesnt flake off in the first month, 90% of a lasting paint job is in the prep work

If you want to save some money on the bleachers until you can go all aluminum, replace the top half with new wood, and do the lower half in aluminum. Reason being, the lower half will have way more foot traffic/wear and tear than the top half.
CoroaEntertainment have you ever been to a racetrack??? The reason I’m asking is because the top seats have a way better overall view of the entire track. Therefore they are actually the more desirable seats...

I'm a professional painter, I say you go red white and blue. Black wouldnt be hard to cover with any color, once you paint more than one coat of paint, the paint turns into a skin/shell depending on the base of the paint, and will completely cover any other color
all the vicks need to be dyno'd and write the hp on the wind shield would make for good long video and make the lottery before the race fun especially if one car happens to have more power

I'm a painter, if you peel the old stuff off down to the concrete. You'll have to put block filler/primer on it first or its just going to fall off.

Do a few test spots to see how easy the paint comes off the wall. If it is falling off more or less then it might be better to just scrape it down and get the worst of the work out of the way now.
on paint - 55 gallon drums are the cheapest way to buy paint, and if you contact an OWNER of an INDUSTRIAL paint supply, there should be some out of date or near out of date paint readily available. A strong DO NOT USE recommendation for the non-professional painter is any paint with fiber added, as it's hard to work with if you don't know what to do with it. I would like recommend parking lot paint, or the like, and rent an airless heavy duty paint spray rig. If you do rent this, do understand that "airless" doesn't always mean electrical powdered, as you can use air to powder the pump, it just means that it's not air injected through the paint line. Lay down a heavy base color coat with the spray rig, let it dry a bit, tape it off, and hit it again. For a decent painter and helper, this is, at most, a 2 day job, and the water blasting will take half of the time.
Forget anyone that cry’s about the cost. This isn’t just a vlog you filmed and and edited over a day. There is legit work going into this before and during the event. Ed would be proud!

Hey brother! With 8.9k comments Im unsure if you will see this, or if someone has already said this... regarding the color choice for the walls, I would go with red white and blue for colors. An easy solution would be to run the red and white the same or similar to what it is now and put the blue where the black is currently. A simple remedy would be to put a coat of a medium gray over the black for a base color then 2 to 3 coats of blue for coverage. That way the black will not bleed through. You could even do a base coat of white if you are looking for a more vibrant blue. That would of course be more coats of paint on top of whats already there but at this rate whats another extra coat or 3 lol. Good luck with everything and thanks for sharing with us
Our family lives in 2 separate houses right next to eachother, the one I'm in has drainage problems and overflows in our yard, the other house has perfect drainage but the well is dry

For the walls, look into finding someone who does Dustless Blasting near you. It'll burn through layers of paint and it uses a water vapor to encapsulate the abrasive so it doesn't blow dust everywhere.

Actually, with outdoor latex paint, the lighter the color, the better the coverage. Darker colors are less acrylic and more water to allow for darker colors and colorant. Lighter colors have more acrylic and less water and cover better. It you want to use dark colors, use grey as a base coat, PPG (used to be the Glidden monochromatic scale) has an entire scale that shows you what color grey base for what dark color you are using. Use it all the time so red will cover in two coats instead of 300 coats.
Been a house painter for 30+ years, and worked at Glidden paint store. Also, on exterior masonry surfaces, cheaper and less sheen paint holds up better because it allows condensation to escape. Never use gloss, use flat or satin at the most.
Cleetus, you should make a rig that applies paint from your car. Kind of like the street striping vehicles that spray lines on the highway. Red White and Blue all day. Get a lot of star decals to spray over and peel off to get the negatives. It's good to have a marker system on your corners or a special corner to visually inform your drivers.
Remember there’s a body on that wall. A homage to the racer who died would be a class act. Not the whole corner just the impact area. Mean a lot to the family

Dust less sandblasting and Wearlon teflon paint. Used it on diesel fuel island. Flexible and hard to ruin. Plus very durable.
