In high school, in the 1970's, I had a blue 1968 GTX. It did not have side stripes when I got it. The Hemi 4-speed had been replaced with an automatic, with a Mr. Gasket shifter that looked like a manual floor shifter and fit the shifter opening in the floor perfectly, for the shifter boot. It still had the Dana 60 rear. The 440 was stock, with the manual transmission carb and intake, but it did have headers and air shocks. The dual point Prestolite distributor was stock for the manual transmission version and was still in it.. The car was stripped down, with manual steering. It came with Keystone wheels on it. If this water pump housing is aluminum, it has been changed and the aluminum water pump housing takes an older style alternator bracket, not the 1968 bracket.
That’s an awesome high school car! Back when they were just cheap used cars. Can you imagine the kids today driving something like that daily? Lol. Im pretty sure the water pump housing is cast iron. Thx for watching!👍
The Spare front clip is a very nice score. Close to $4000 in metal if you had to buy each piece. It unfortunate the rails did not go the Torsion bar. This is not a bad job to do, My car was on a jig when I did mine. Watch the video I sent you in your previous video. Good information.
Awesome thx! Yeah, definitely a score, especially if I can use it mostly intact. I’ll have to really look at the GTX to determine what to keep and what to cut. For now I’m going to concentrate on getting it running and hopefully driving.🤞
Thx! It’s a really cool truck (original paint)that I scored just sitting along a street for sale about 8 years ago. It originally had a slant six, but was converted to a 318 before I bought it. The GTX was a fluke find as well. Lol. Thx for watching!👍
I had to get the top of the back of the block wire brushed really well before I could see the VIN stamping on the gold '68 Coronet. And it was out of the car when I did it.

Looks like good project car. I put up some videos of my cars
Nice score. Pretty sure those are 69 Mustang seats, look the same as the ones in a 69 Mach 1 I had.
I think you’re right.👍
Well...youve got your work cut out for you lol. If these cars could talk this one would have some GREAT stories
Yes,definitely. This car has had a rough life!
