Top fighting tip 1. Cast Minor illusion so enemies get together (if possible before a fight). 2. Make them wet = Quicken spelled bonus action to cast create water (the higher spell slot the bigger AoE). 3. Cast any of your lightning AoEs. 4. Use desructive wrath! VOILA, you just did like 1000 dmg.
@Yobolight I'm doing just 2 levels of evocation wizard to get sculpt spells and I scribed lightning bolt. I also have the warped headband of intellect to boost my intelligence to 17. I have pretty nice melee tank with the strongest lightning spells at the ready.
@@YobolightThe real benefit of Sorc is that Charisma is its main ability score and the Charisma skills are the most often used skills in the game. I'd argue that you should start as Sorc as well because you want to be proficienct in Constitution saving throws to improve your Concentration saves. Wizard has more spells but overall Sorc is better as the main character in Bg3.
@@fortunatus1 Oh yes, if you are doing a sorc-cleric then you should start with sorcerer for constitution save (imo). There is just no real benefit with starting as cleric when you will get heavy armor profiency either way since its from cleric subclass
@@fortunatus1 charisma is overrated. for a first play through? sure, pass all those skill checks, fun things. second play through and more? i don't give a rip about dialogue skill checks, hell i prefer to have a chance to fail at them to experience the story a different way. perception and wisdom are the most important in my opinion, having a near 100% chance to pass all the CHA skill checks gets boring fast. sorc is good for the con save proficiency, couldn't care less about the charisma stat though.
Most of the Myconid Colony/Underdark gear mentioned in the video is actually from Moonrise Tower/Shadow Cursed Lands in Act 2 if anyone else is thinking they missed them.
I believe by going sorcerer, you get proficiency in constitution saving throws, which means it's essentially redundant to pick resilient as a feat. It's like getting resilient for free, which is nice because then you can focus on getting something else for your two feats
@@chrisalmenas6236resilient doesn't give advantage it just lets you add your proficiency and a +1. Your thinking of war caster which, in my opinion, is better for this build.
There's a bit of a problem with BG3's multiclassing system with taking Sorcerer first for a primarily Sorcerer build like this. In BG3, the spell casting modifier used for items that call for it, uses the last added casting class for it. Which means that if you do go Sorcerer for that first class but end up with say Wizard, your spell modifier for items will be on Intelligence rather than on your Charisma. If that is important for your playthrough, then this needs to be thought about. As for Resilient (Constitution) vs War Caster, which I see other people mentioning in the replies: the one that is better does depend. Generally, if the Con improvement gets you to an even number like 16, then it will be better at higher levels than War Caster's advantage as far as the math is concerned. Below that, War Caster is technically better, but Resilient is not too far behind. Combine it with the increase to overall Con Saves which aren't too uncommon, as well as the buff to HP, and I would say Resilient (Con) is the better choice most of the time.
35:15 Haven't seen anyone mention it while skimming the comments, so I am going to: In the Tabletop you can also cast in heavy armor. The restriction is that you have to be proficient with the armor you wear in order to be able to cast spells. Tempest Cleric gives you proficiency in heavy armor (in adition to the light and medium armor that all clerics get proficiency in).
Exactly that. Why would you be able to cast in medium armour but not in heavy ? Dude is very biased and uninformed sometimes +sigh+ The game doesn´t give a shit about your class - you just need to have the proficiency to cast while wearing it, STAT. Paladin spells or cleric spells are no different from sorcerer or wizzard spells or anythign else - you get the malus while wearing armour UNTRAINED, no matter where you get the training from (class, dual class, feat choice, magic ring, whatever) once you have it you can litterally cast anything you want while wearing it. And YES heavy armour is great for casters, so you don´t have to waste attribute points on Dex that should go into your main stats or Con to be better at concentration an/or surviving hits when they happen.
You can switch gear around a bit for really good cantrips. Use the Alfira robe to add your charisma to cantrip damage, the ring to add your charisma again and the dragon ancestry to add it again. But the staff that adds a draconic element will add 4 to the damage as well. With 1 ability improvement, ethels hair, and the mirror you can get your charisma to 22.(24 with the hat) This means your cantrips deal 18-21-25 damage before they roll dice. So Warcaster makes your reaction attack 3d8+18-21-25. If they are wet 6d6+36-42-50. This will ALWAYS be better than the tempest cleric reaction. So the cleric reaction is not as good. Though it does have more opportunities. This turns the shocking grasp cantrip into an absolute monster. It let's you annihilate low stakes conflicts without blowing spell slots. You can also get your armor to 22-24 and have the shield spell. So you can very effectively become a melee sorcerer
Yeah but the opportunity cost is high, you'd give up your robe and necklace (not ring) slots. Robe of supreme defenses or weave or armor of landfall (since you have light armor prof) are all arguably better. Potent Robes are best for an EB spammer. As for amulets, the amulet of the devout is bis for this build because you get an extra destructive wrath that's 2 max dmg chain lightnings. Also this is storm sorc so no draconic subclass. Your build on a sorlock would be good though
Dude this is such an awesome build. Love your videos and in depth explanations like the extra stuff your stats cover BESIDES the core function of your character like int for wizards as an example. Please do more caster class build videos! Also i like your style man, loading the info up front. Shows you don't care about the views in and of themselves but actual subject matter. I never actually click away after your intro, always worth while to listen thru the entire video. Unlike so many UA-camrs stretching a 30 second topic into 10 minutes for the advertisements
This build rocks. At level 5, I accidentally one shot The Hag by quicken spell to Create Water to give her the Wet condition, then Chromatic Orb/Sphere (w/e it's called) for Lightning, max damage with my channel divinity and used my illithid crit to deal 124 DMG, lol. Had to redo it cuz we needed the hair.
So, for funsies. If you're hasted, you can cast create water from the cleric spell list first. Any enemy standing in water will become vulnerable to lightning and cold damage (vulnerable=double damage)
There's a massive issue with taking Sorcerer levels first. The Spell Save DC from items and scrolls are calculated using the last NEW class you took a level in, not your highest level class. What this means is that if you take Sorcerer first, followed by Cleric, then followed by Wizard all the spells you cast from scrolls or items (The staff that lets you cast Lightning Storm falls under this category) will be cast using your intelligence to calculate DC so enemies will constantly be saving their saving throw checks. That being said I think it makes most sense to take Sorcerer last. You really want to be taking advantage of that high charisma for all of your spell DC calculations. Level up whichever way feels best for you but I would highly recommend releveling around level 7 and going 2 Cleric, 1 Wizard and then Sorcerer until level 12. It seems counterintuitive but this is the only way to ensure that every spell you cast will use Charisma as the Spell Save DC.
This is what I’ve read, but can’t confirm if it’s a display bug and using most recent spell modifier/DC calculating correctly in the log or if it’s really the last new class modifier that determines the spell DC. If it’s is indeed the last NEW class, what leveling order do you recommend? I want to start Sorcerer for early level game play (CHA face skills). When do you respec to end with sorcerer or follow the above leveling, but respec abilities and end as an INT caster?
So I leveled 1-6 as a Sorcerer. Upon reaching level 6 I releveled starting as Cleric for 1 level, then 5 levels of Sorcerer for Lightning Bolt. 7th level I took my second and final level in Cleric for Channel Oath. At which point the combo really comes online and I continued to level as sorcerer for the remaining levels. Once you're level 8 or 9 you can go 1-2 Cleric, 3 Wizard, 4-12 Sorcerer if you value the ability to learn spells from scrolls. Just make sure the spells you learn from Wizard aren't spells that require saving throws because they will use your wizard DC. I prioritize buff spells or environmental spells for any spells learned from scrolls. If you take the Cleric first route to guarantee your Sorcerer spells are using charisma to calculate DC I start with 15 Constitution so I can take Resilient Con at Sorcerer level 4 since I really value Con saves. You could take any feat you'd like though if you have even Con and don't mind not having Con saving throws. (alert is an amazing feat alternative)
You can go slightly heavier into cleric for more channel divinity charges. Specifically, going 6 cleric, 5 sorcerer, and 1 wizard, still lets you have 2 feats and lets you scribe new spells. You're missing on that resistance from sorcerer, but you get the spells (like call lightning) from being level 5 in cleric. Stats can favor heavier wisdom, for example- 17 cha 14 wis 14 con 12 dex/int 10 dex/int 8 str
When you have multiple casting stats, it’s important to pick the spells with saving throws only under the highest stat. Where possible, your spells under other stats should all be buffs & utility, or spells (magic missile, blade ward) without saves.
So glad you made this video as I was brainstorming about this build, made a drow storm sorc/Tempest cleric, I had not thought about a level in wizard.... may have to try it
You get create water for free at level 6 storm sorc also so there’s a few options to get it. But you’re right, you for sure need it for lightning or cold damage.
I have tried this build and it ended up being one of my favorites ever. Now, I do wonder why more people seem to undervalue going further into Cleric. Most builds I see feature 8-10 Sorcerer levels and 2-4 Cleric levels. I actually felt going 6/6 between them to be incredibly powerful. Cleric level 6 knock back is actually very useful from my experience. Debuff everyone with reverberation, disable reactions and massive area of effect knockback and some of the most impressive damage I've seen besides Paladin when you upcast a lightning spell on a wet target.
Every time you ask people to subscribe, I am spiritually casting Guidance on you. If the metric doesn’t improve, we stop making persuasion rolls and start rolling intimidation. (I’ve got an in with the Ironhand leader.)
Currently doing a similar build with High Elf. While Dragonborn is thematic, its not a great species overall. Your resistance to lightning becomes duplicative once you're Sorc level 6 and you don't gain an extra skill or cantrip. While Lightning breath is nice, I can take it or leave it. More importantly, I think its a mistake to start with Cleric. Starting with Sorcerer is better because you gain proficiency in Constitution saving throws, which is important for Concentration checks. It also avoids any problem with Firebolt for High Elf characters. Destructive Wrath doesn't really come into play in a big way until you gain 5 or 6 levels of Sorc and can cast Lightning Bolt and Call Lightning. Also, you want to start with a Cha 17 so that when you spare Auntie Ethel's life, you gain the +1 to Cha. Then choose Ability Score Improvement for your level 4 feat and you're at 20 Charisma very early in the game. I'd drop Intelligence down to 10 to make this happen and then just use the Headband of Intellect as a default head piece switching it out before combats for something more useful like the Hat of Storm Scion's Power (Arcane Acuity). EDIT: For Cleric spells, Create Water is a must have because the wet condition gives vulnerability to Lightning damage.
Back to Race, the movement bonus of Wood Elf is much less important for the Storm Sorcerer because you have Tempestuous Flight, Misty Step, Dimension Door and scrolls of MS and DD, as well as spells that can be cast at long range. IMO High Elf is better. Edit: For the second feat, Dual Wielder is a strong option because you can gain the benefits of 2 staves as well as a +1 to Armor Class.
If anyone's reading this and wondering why it's often advised to go tempest cleric 2 followed by 10 in sorc, it's because any 2/10 split will have to rely on items to cast Chain Lightning. If you're casting a spell with an item, the attack rolls and DC of that spell is based on the spellcasting stat of the last spellcasting class that you took a first level in. So if you go sorc first and cleric later, all of your Chain Lightning casts from, say, Markoheshkir or Scroll of Chain Lighting will use your comparatively crappy WIS modifier instead of your pumped CHA for attack rolls and DCs. Even going 1 Sorc / 2 Cleric / 9 Sorc will not fix this because Cleric was the last spellcasting class that you took a first level in.
For a bit of added flavour, you can imagine you character in the vein of a storm giant, who are supposed to be able to see into the future and stuff. So you could put that last level into wizard again for divination wizard, and 2 portents per long rest.
fun fact. duel wielder lets you hold two quarterstaffs. use this to maximize the powerful staffs in the game if you dont need the extra ac from a shield.
I kept that setup until I got into act three with the necromancy Staffa and the legendary one although for non necromancy stuff the other arcane battery staff is super nice to dual wield and have 2 arcane battery
This is the build I'm using now! Fun to see your take on it. I like the Wood Elf Charlatan for race and background. That gets you Stealth, Perception, Sleight of Hand, and Deception before you even touch your classes. I also like, for RP purposes, to do 1 level of Cleric, then 1 level Sorcerer, and finally 1 level Wizard before cycling around. That way you get all of your cantrips when you're still low enough level for it to matter, and your ability to maximize damage comes on line just as you'll be getting your first Lightning or Glyph of Warding scrolls. Biggest problem is that the stats will never be enough to cover everything. You end up gear dependent no matter what.
I would start level 1 as a sorcerer for the proficiency until you later take war caster, then take the 2 levels of cleric, second feat i would take elemental adept lightning with 9 more sorc levels, good video! 😀
My first coop campaign build with my buddy was 6 Storm Sorcerer/6 Oath of the Ancients. Def more of a proper Thor vibe with the melee capability BUT I found out if you choose eldritch knight fighter the highest between INT, WIS, and CHA becomes your casting stat. So my eldritch knight uses CHA for casting since that’s my highest 👹
I think this is one of the most confusing aspects of the game. It isn't presented well, and many people seem to have different experiences as to how multiclass casting stats work.
@@mathieuxlaflamme2322 For spells it depends on which class's spell list it's from. If I have a paladin cleric multiclass and both of them have access to command, I can choose whether to set the DC for the command spell through CHA or through WIS. If I'm playing a 10 wiz/2 cleric and want to use command form the cleric spell list (wizards don't have this spell), then I can only use WIS for my spellcasting for that spell. It also wouldn't make sense otherwise, since I could take 11 levels in cleric, then 1 level in wizard and scribe all the wizard spells which clerics don't get access to and cast them using wisdom just as effectively as a proper wizard would. For scrolls and illithid powers, unless what OP mentions is true, iirc, it depends on the last new class you added.
@@mathieuxlaflamme2322 You're probably right, as I switched to the aforementioned build from a storm sorcerer/oath of ancients multiclass. Either way, I'm glad I can use a little cheese to make an eldritch knight that benefits from the casting mod I use for the RP/build more effectively :)
Just a note on Spell Sparkler + Magic Missile = massive damage as each missile generates charges and has a chance of releasing the charges. I have done 40 pts of damage with a level 1 magic missile while wearing the necklace that gives you and extra missile each cast (buy from Blurg in Myconid Colony).
don't forget the amulet of the devout - gives a free charge of chennel divinity, once per long rest and +2 to spell save dc, might be something to keep on you for when your going into a bigger fight, but maybe used your channel divinity charge already.
There used to be a way to create infinite sorcery points with the shield of devotion and then add in the create water as a cantrip. So much room for cheese and it's so cool
Supposedly female Lolth-Sworn Cleric of Lolth see the most tagged dialogue options in the game so that might be a consideration when making your character.
I know I'm late to the BG3 party, but gotta say, I think I may enjoy your build videos MORE than I enjoy the game. I play a lot of arpgs that focus on building out a character, so builds are kinda my thing. Before anyone flames me, that's not saying I don't absolutely love the game, lol.
The shield, real sparky sparkler, is pretty good if you want to run lightening charges. Its active + cleric knockback means you can deal a little damage and remove reactions. I think the aura is great in actii and early act3. It can really mess with enemies who run at your sorcerer because of that knockback
Because you have a Wizard as one of your classes for this build, you can wear the intellect boosting headgear and equip wizard spells, then remove it and still have those spells.
I have a fighter warlock sorcerer who can cast while using heavy armour. The character gets proficient in heavy armour because of his first level and that carries over to every subclass.
Personally i think using shocking grasp as a reaction is better then using the cleric reaction as it applies shock but thats just me. I also dont think that cleric reaction scales where shocking grasp does scale up at level 5 and 10.
My first character in BG3 was a Draconic Bloodline pure Sorcerer, and I thought that it was powerful as hell. Now I *really* want to try this build, looks super fun!
I kind of like wood elf so that you can fly further and higher with tempestuous magic I could definitely see going for Dragonborn though, because there's some equipment that give you bonuses for standing on electrified surfaces which might be fun to use for this build.
Doing a 6 + 6 split between cleric and sorcerer looks like it would be pretty good. Gives you access to all the good lightning spells (even chain lightning via Markoheshkir) and if you have a party member with song of rest you would get 8 uses of destructive wrath per long rest.
I guess you'd have to choose between call lightning and lightning bolt/witch bolt as your main damage dealer because of the different casting stat, but by the time you're high enough level to use all of them gear can fix that problem.
Thanks for sharing your Build. I kind of went the opposite...StormSorc2/TempestCleric10 and I am quite pleased with it. I also used Forest Gnome... Darkvision, Speak with Animals and Advantage in Wis/Dex/Cha checks. Look forward to your next video. Peace
8:45 THAT'S why Durge has Medicine! In case you kill all the potion merchants. I was so annoyed that he had Medicine instead of something "actually useful".
I was really hating trickery cleric with shadowheart but needed the healing so i switched her to a 6/6 cleric sorc build and now shes my favorite companion to play and is hard carrying me through act 2
I've oneshot so many bosses and encounters with this build on tactician. Nothing beats watching a boss just appear and instakilling him that same round with a 300+ damage spell
Now I have a question since ive seen a few similar builds and people talking about starting as sorc first for certain prof bonuses..but i have also heard when you use something that can be recasted such as call lightning it changes the spell casting type to your last multiclassed modifier ie: start as sorc go cleric now call lightning uses wisdom not charisma on recast ..is that true or has that been "fixed" ? Cause I would like to start as sorc then go cleric but i am afraid of losing call lightning charisma modifier on recast. thanks in advance
You can cast wizard/sorc spells in heavy armor just fine (as long as you have proficiency). Just like the tabletop version, proficiency is all that matters.
I'd love to see a non-necro summoner build. Im betting itll be a druid of somekind. That dryad with spike growth is so good and the ice myrmadon is awesome. You have to shoehorn in the summoner gloves - figure out how to mitigate the madness effect
Unless they changed it your spellcasting is decided based on the last level you take. So if the last level is wizard your casting is based of int, if its sorc its based on char and if you take cleri its based on wisdom. So it might be better to take 1 level dips first and then the rest in your main class.
@italianspartacus interesting, I didn't know White has shield in it. Thanks for the tip! Would you say the Draconic path is stronger than Storm Sorcery? I'm a bit torn but some of the Storm Sorcery perks look pretty enticing. Just wish we could have the draconic scales in Character Creation without picking sorcerer. Thanks!
You should try out my favorite build. 8 fighter (champion) 4 rogue (thief). Stack all the items that reduce crit chance. Dual wield weapon style, feats= savage attacker. The rest can go into stats. (Using finesse weapons) anything that adds extra damage dice really make it shine. Lmk if you need/want more details about specific gear and such
Wait, if you do 2 levels in antyhing won't you miss out on...oh whats it called...chain lightning? Why would you want to miss out on the level 6 lightning damage spell?
Great build, i wonder if it makes sense to go 6 cleric, 5 sorc and 1 wiz, to get the lvl 6 cleric thunderbolt strike to push enemies with lightning dmg...
I am a total newb to D&D and Baldurs Gate but on my first playthrough I chose storm sorcerer just based on the in-game descriptions on the character creator. I won’t lie- in the first like 4 or 5 levels it was a little slow going and I had to rely on my party memebers quite a bit but once I got to level 6 and got all the lightning gear, the ability improvement feat and the hags hair to get my Charisma to 20 I was off and running. I haven’t multiclassed yet to tempest cleric although I plan to, I just wanted to get to level 6 in storm sorcery at least. If I did it over I’d do a draconic bloodline sorc until level 5 or 6 and then respec to storm. Honestly it was probably just me because at the same time I’m also trying to just figure out how all my party members’ classes work, how they work together and also just learning how the game and combat work in general. So maybe if I had known the basics I could’ve more easily navigated early storm sorc levels but I’ll assume there’s just an easier way to just switch over to it once you get some levels. But it was cool as hell being able to fly around early on. Not just for combat but exploration purposes.
You should take Sorcerer first. The reason is the proficiency in constitution saving throws. Many spells in the game require concentration, and this helps ensure they remain up if you get hit. If you take Cleric first, you lose that proficiency when you take Sorc. Getting the divine power is nice but at low levels you can only cast destructive wrath a few times, but you can get hit every round. At higher levels you can twin haste and you don't want to lose that. Clerics have a ton of concentration spells, protection from evil, bless, etc.
@@lukaszparalusz3365 yes you can do it that way or take Sorc to level 2 then switch to Cleric. The advantage of picking tempest cleric early is getting proficiency in armor early.
something I dont think he mentioned that you can do is take the dual wielder feat, then you can dual wield staves instead of staff and shield. I use Markoheshkir and the staff of spellpower, which will give you an extra spell slot of any level instead of just a first level slot like the shield does. you will lose an extra 2 AC but that's not a bad trade for an extra 5th or 6th level slot. Also, there's a very rare amulet that you get from a church in the lower city in act 3 that gives you +2 spell save DC, as well as an extra use of channel divinity per short rest which means you can use destructive wrath twice per short rest instead of once, and 6 times per long rest instead of 3 (assuming you have a bard w/ song of rest) and you can just swap to the spellcrux amulet whenever you need to restore a spell slot, then take it off again
I have no sorcerer Xp but if you get the channel divinity for tempest cleric then you get Wizard for scribing, other ppl have said y it’s good to get sorcerer last. And then sorcerer. Using the free cast glitch u should be able to get infinite sorcerer points and 4-7 up to 16 channel divinities using this can u haste and double spells? Getting tons of glyphs of warding, lightning or thunder but lightnings better cuz of water vulnerability. If it works as it sounds 4 glyphs/ turn and if you freecasted those bump them all to lvl6 for tons of lightning damage in a larger aoe? Not sure if it works like that. I’ll be using this to try for my durge run lol
I’m at the beginning of Act 2 and decided to spec my lightning sorc with tempest cleric, however, I realised that I missed the spellsparkler from act 1… is it something that I absolutely need? I don’t wish to start a new game and currently I’m using the cool looking ice staff from the underground
Is the wizard part of this build outdated? Because I had lvl 1 wizard on my sorc and they couldn’t even scribe the haste spell saying that my wizard level was too low.
May I ask what would be your ideal stats for a multi class build for an OC I want to improve on. Building on Storm Sorcerer and Eldritch Knight (2 Handed Claymore and 2 main spells being magic missile and Grow Person) (As for taste of the character. Think Rita Repulsa and Lord Z from power rangers. Their kid is now making a name for themselves - Without using the parasite)
Question about war caster vs constitution proficiency. The way I read the rules, proficiency in a stat gives a +2 on a saving throw. War caster "advantage" indicates that you roll 2 dice and take the higher. That should mean that proficiency and war caster would stack nicely -- rolling two dice at +2. In which case, if you ever have a class completely reliant on concentration, like a druid, you could REALLY keep concentration with those 2 feats together.
Or even better, you can get constitution proficiency from dipping in one of three different classes, and use a piece of gear for your constitution saving throw advantage and now you dont need either of the feats!
Cleric/Fighter/Barbarian, right? I have a War Cleric Fighter with 18cons and the extra proficiency so that spirit guardians almost never fail. @@CreativeExcusesGaming
Proficiency in a stat gives a bonus on the saving throw which scales with character level. So at level 1, it's +2, by end game, it's +4. imo, taking both con proficiency and war caster isn't worth it since you're burning 2 feats to maintain concentration, one of which could be used for ASI or elemental dept or spell sniper, etc. If you could only take one, pick con proficiency, since +4 by end game is better than advantage statistically, and there's plenty of gear which gives you advantage on con saves.
Ah, I did not know that. Leaves a slot open for alert. In all honesty... across my characters, alert seems to be the one feat that really turns the game.@@common_undead
Thanks man, will defo make this build, making the character now. Just a quick question, any specific reason you prefer put int at 12 and no drop it to 8 and go with more dex? Just so i understand the reason:P @@italianspartacus
Im going to use this as my first build as I just bought the game! Idk if I should start multiclassing though since I’m a noob. I’m just gonna have fun with it I guess
I like playing with the dex gloves that set it to 18. I create my character with 8 dex and bolster my wisdom, cons, and charisma freely. Without armor (and a shield) I have 21 AC (draconic ancestry). I'm also playing a sorc/warlock/fighter "sorlock" build. Love the eldrich machine gun; however, I have been curious if all these elemental items surpass the physical eldrich? Do you have any experience with this other build?

Dude is very biased and uninformed sometimes +sigh+
The game doesn´t give a shit about your class - you just need to have the proficiency to cast while wearing it, STAT.
@@murphieslaw6932 i feel like he is confused, since arcane used to have failure chance based on the armor type. and he may think its still like that.
Any enemy standing in water will become vulnerable to lightning and cold damage (vulnerable=double damage)
or quickend spell from sorcerer
Does it stack? If you shoot lightning and then ice, does both get buffed?
Stats can favor heavier wisdom, for example-
17 cha
14 wis
14 con
12 dex/int
10 dex/int
8 str
When you have multiple casting stats, it’s important to pick the spells with saving throws only under the highest stat. Where possible, your spells under other stats should all be buffs & utility, or spells (magic missile, blade ward) without saves.
So glad you made this video as I was brainstorming about this build, made a drow storm sorc/Tempest cleric, I had not thought about a level in wizard.... may have to try it
When you initially pick your spells for cleric it's always a good idea to select create water to further amplify your electric damage
If you take the last level in Wizard to get evocation school, you basically get free better metamagic shaping for all your AOE Lightning spells
You'd need 2 levels for that unfortunately :(
You could also use high elf to pick up friends since that doesn't really care about your casting modifier
Amazing build idea! We appreciate all your hard work! I get intimidated by having more than two classes on a character so props lmao
My absolute pleasure dude :) Thanks so much for watching!
Hey, don't disrespect my White Dragonborn like that 😦
If anyone's reading this and wondering why it's often advised to go tempest cleric 2 followed by 10 in sorc, it's because any 2/10 split will have to rely on items to cast Chain Lightning.
@@tierfunmtg I hope they fix this.
I respect your level of respect for your audience.
I like going this and using mourning Frost and spell sparkler for an op act one setup
This. The constitution saves are nice.
I loved that no so subtle hint to a specific act 2 encounter where the sanctuary spell helps a lot

Commander Zhalk on Nautiloid is a half-devil (Cambion), whereas a Tiefling has *some* (small amount) of devil blood, in terms of D&D lore. :)
Aren't they the male version of a succubus? Or am I mixed up. Gotta go find my monster manual, been too long
Cambions are often the halfbreed offspring of succubi. The male version is incubi (sp?).
So now the caster multiclasses use the highest modifiers? It used to be the last caster class you add that dictated what stat you used.
Im pretty sure Eldritch Knight is INT no matter what. Did they patch it since launch?
@@mathieuxlaflamme2322 You're probably right, as I switched to the aforementioned build from a storm sorcerer/oath of ancients multiclass. Either way, I'm glad I can use a little cheese to make an eldritch knight that benefits from the casting mod I use for the RP/build more effectively :)
Now this is a spicy build that can absolutely destroy everything. Awesome build bro!
Also, you HAVE to take create water, it doesnt turn yellow npc agaiks you but makes it an insane first round strike
I used this to literally two turn the final steel watch fight. It's wayyy to io towards them since they are already vulnerable
The level 11 sorc level 1 wizard with Sage background. Is like prime sorc. A sorcerer that’s willing to study, is the scariest magic caster there is.
Give me the terrifying caster!!!
The cloak of elemental absorption really give me crocodile Dundee vibes.
You called that lightning. This is lightning
don't forget the amulet of the devout - gives a free charge of chennel divinity, once per long rest and +2 to spell save dc, might be something to keep on you for when your going into a bigger fight, but maybe used your channel divinity charge already.
There used to be a way to create infinite sorcery points with the shield of devotion and then add in the create water as a cantrip. So much room for cheese and it's so cool
Free cast gives infinite sorcery points

Using this build for honor mode just started last night wish my rock gnome good luck
By going Wizard after you started Sorcerer, your scrolls and items will scale with INT instead of CHA (they scale on your "last new class" attribute)
yes i would place wizard between cleric and sorc
Doesn't that also go for all the scribed spells?
This man can take me down by the river any time 😊
Supposedly female Lolth-Sworn Cleric of Lolth see the most tagged dialogue options in the game so that might be a consideration when making your character.
6:50 You can cast spell with heavy armor if you are proficient even if you are a wizard or a sorcerer.
As long as you have heavy armor proficiency, you can use your spells. My sorcerer/cleric is rocking the Adamantine armor for now.
I'd love a poison melee build, but never the less, keep up the good work :)
My first character in BG3 was a Draconic Bloodline pure Sorcerer, and I thought that it was powerful as hell. Now I *really* want to try this build, looks super fun!
My current Durge run has been a blue dragon storm cleric / storm sorcerer. Been pretty damn fun so far.
Finally somebody who doesn't talk in weirdo youtube speech, if you know you know
fucking HATE that shit
Peace

This build was the first character I created in Baldur's Gate 3, but instead of wizard I had 1 level in Fighter
Didn't even mention you can use create water Plus a lightning spell plus wrath of the storm for insane damage
I just wanted to confirm you can in fact cast sorcerer spells in heavy armor as long as you have the proficiency.
CORRECT!
wow this build is crazy! def trying this one!
I'd love to see a non-necro summoner build. Im betting itll be a druid of somekind. That dryad with spike growth is so good and the ice myrmadon is awesome. You have to shoehorn in the summoner gloves - figure out how to mitigate the madness effect
Working on it tomorrow! :)
22:00 had you taken sentinel instead of the ability feat, would you be able to Wrath as a reaction when your allies get hit?
Unless they changed it your spellcasting is decided based on the last level you take. So if the last level is wizard your casting is based of int, if its sorc its based on char and if you take cleri its based on wisdom. So it might be better to take 1 level dips first and then the rest in your main class.
Noob question, but how do you have 2 actions in your fight demonstration? The video just shows you starting at 2 actions, thanks in advance
Great video! If you were to choose Draconic Bloodline instead of Storm Sorcery, would you make any changes to the upgrade path after that?
Not necessarily! I'd probably go white dragon ancestry for the shield! :)
Thanks!
I wonder if this would be good with gale and on honour mode? This looks amazing
Amazing build, super fun! I do have a question: you refer to an ability improvement that comes along with finishing shadowheart’s story, what is that?

You should try out my favorite build. 8 fighter (champion) 4 rogue (thief). Stack all the items that reduce crit chance. Dual wield weapon style, feats= savage attacker. The rest can go into stats. (Using finesse weapons) anything that adds extra damage dice really make it shine. Lmk if you need/want more details about specific gear and such
nice been lookin at making a sorcerer build perfect timing 💪🏼
Wait, if you do 2 levels in antyhing won't you miss out on...oh whats it called...chain lightning? Why would you want to miss out on the level 6 lightning damage spell?
You still get chain lighting via the staff
You can scribe the spell as a wizard ;)
Thank you brother 💪
Definitely going to try this build next time
You should take Sorcerer first.
So you do 1 lvl Sorc then 2 lvl cleric ?
@@lukaszparalusz3365 yes you can do it that way or take Sorc to level 2 then switch to Cleric. The advantage of picking tempest cleric early is getting proficiency in armor early.
Did they patch the wiz hack? Im doin a sorcerer now in honor made this will help if it still works lol.
something I dont think he mentioned that you can do is take the dual wielder feat, then you can dual wield staves instead of staff and shield.
Take the dual wield feat at which level can you explain this a bit more of how it's better than shields
Thanks
Wouldn't starting sorcerer for constitution proficiency better?
Has there been a recent patch that prevents the 1 level dip in to wizard scribing spells above level 1?
Keep up the hard work,
Tempest Cleric is worth it, it is Also Cool to take two levels in to Fighter,
I’m at the beginning of Act 2 and decided to spec my lightning sorc with tempest cleric, however, I realised that I missed the spellsparkler from act 1… is it something that I absolutely need? I don’t wish to start a new game and currently I’m using the cool looking ice staff from the underground
If I didn’t want to take 1 into wizard would you recommend going into cleric 4 for another feat?

That's very odd, unless a major patch came out, this works as of two days ago!
May I ask what would be your ideal stats for a multi class build for an OC I want to improve on.
Building on Storm Sorcerer and Eldritch Knight (2 Handed Claymore and 2 main spells being magic missile and Grow Person)
(As for taste of the character. Think Rita Repulsa and Lord Z from power rangers. Their kid is now making a name for themselves - Without using the parasite)
great build -- thank you!
