@@MrHemchandra It might not support 4K. Not the GPU, but the display port and the cable. Unless a version of your computer exists that handles 4K. for this m4800 there are versions for HD, FHD, QHD, and UHD. thats why it was possible.

I just would like to know how or where did you find the information you share in this video regarding the three mother boards (the original LA-9771P, the replacement LA-9771P with the extra socket soldered, and the LA-9772P you mentioned at the end). I would like to do a similar upgrade to a Dell Inspiron 7540 but I have been looking on the web information about the mother boards and displays but have not found specs about the mother boards if they support both FHD and UHD monitors an what monitor to use for the upgrade. The only it occurs to me is to cross reference information from different computers of same model. I wonder if your work for a company that distributes this parts for laptops. Yes you have to change it. However if you have the 2015 newer eDP mainboard for this computer you can just use the same board. The uhd panel damaged the other 1080p LVDS board or something when i tried to plug it in. watch the other video. when you have the QHD LVDS mainboard or the newer eDP mainboard you can upgrade without changing the board. however with 1080p and lower LVDS you have to. Someone on ebay scammed me by selling the computer as QHD, but when it arrived it was FHD. I was unable to return it.

Also what I know -when you have 3K display, is not possible to use Intel HD 4600(Nvidia Optimus), and battery is weak.

Or look at the display port on the board. if its labeled JLVDS1 and the adjacent port JEPWR1 is missing, then you have (HD/FHD)LVDS output. If you have the ports labeled JLVDS1 and JEPWR1 present then you have old version (QHD/UHD) LVDS_to_eDP motherboard. if you have the diplay port labled only JeDP1 then you have the newer universal eDP board. I have demonstrated in the videos. or 2. Open your screen bezel, remove the screen, and see which cable you have. if its labled LVDS then you have old 2014 HD/FHD board. If its labled LVDS_eDP then you have old 2014 QHD/UHD motherboard. Finally, Intel HD 4600 cannot run 3k or 4k screens and graphics switching is not possible. You cannot identify the screen by reading the output because all M4800 motherboards have a primary eDP output. Only that the LVDS version have a converter for the connector on the board.

You are not planning to upgrade? @@snmr1318 All hinges attach to the universal base without any problem. Their lower part is identical. Just make sure your Lcd frame/cover comes with the correct hinges for QHD/UHD. I did a change once again from my modified back panel to a correct A131cy lcd cover that came with hinges. I will redo it later just for demonstration. the frame a131cy designated for QHD and the frame A146J2 for UHD are identical except for the size of the rubber cushion stickers. you can use any of the frames if you arent too obsessed with perfection. for question number 2, the K1100 is more than enough for me. The computer is quite a powerful one even by today's practical standards and i dont need to run power i cant practically use. the only high demand application i have is probably edit videos. I write software but that is not a demanding application. #4 you pretty much have everything you need except for the cable. you also need the bezel "0G2G1W" for QHD/UHD. the FHD bezel is one or two millimeters smaller than the UHD screen on each side and will tend to cover edges of the display content. the clips on the bezels are also different if you watch the video i had to cut some off.
There is some point in one of he videos I show the screens that fit this computer. in this case I used one from a precision 7510 because the share the UHD panel. This screen from the 7510 is 43N80

This is a 15.6" screen. Your M6800 requires a larger 17" screen. You can get OEM on ebay, but they arent that many. You can also get clones flooded on ebay, but quality will be wanting.
I got scammed by a guy in ebay for dell m4800 FHD but actually its display is in HD 728p only. Can I upgrade it to FHD just by changing the panel and LVDS cable or anything else? Due to budget, QHD is not necessary to me now
Matrix? If you are speaking of the screen, try ebay. used one likely made in japan. you can also gamble with new chinese clones. make sure you have the exact part numbers you need.

Not really familiar with m2000m, but I know its made for a different CPU architecture. You are better off using more powerful nvidia card from the same era as the card you already have. Some m4800s have an AMD GPU card. the heat sink has to lie flush on the chip you install or you will have a problem. Media switching is more related to your system bios, power saving, and display performance demand. for example, m4800s shipped with 1080p display and lower have media switching while those with QHD display and above dont have the bios option to enable it. I think optimus it has little to do with the card type. unlike the previous one, the new motherboard installed on this computer doesnt have the bios option to enable media switching since it was designed for QHD/UHD, which renders the embedded Intel HD 4600 graphics GPU unusable, and therefore, no switching between GPUs.
just to let you know, i've successfully put a m2200 into my m4700. didn't have to edit any .inf files or make custom drivers, just plug & play (well, after you unscrew everything and reassemble after). i've read that optimus does not work with the edp screens. it's for that reason that i don't believe the LVDS screens will support pascal cards (p1000-p5000) but do support the maxwell cards (m1000-m5000). Now if only our boards supported mxm b cards...

Its not just about finding a screen. you need to know what your motherboard can support and whether dell has a cable for a UHD screen or not.
