    While you are in between layouts, you could keep the section with the engine shed and a bit of track on shelf, to still be able to film locomotives that need repairs being pushed into the shed.

    Good luck with it all Bill, most of all enjoy the process, you've got a wealth of experience now, so bring that into play and enjoy. Don't forget to get the sheepdogs out to round up all those wayward sheep that you found over time on the hillside. Looking forward to seeing the updates and any repair videos you can manage. Will be really sad to see this lovely layout go, but onwards and upwards. You've brought many people a lot of joy through tough times Bill, and have totally reinvigorated my interest in the hobby. I've already started buying some locos and stock including several old Wrenn Castles, but have now decided to try TT 120.
    Have put a loop together, bought a new Gaugemaster controller and have a temporary set up running. That's the first time for me in some 20 years, and almost 35 years since I've had a proper layout on a board. Now excitedly planning my first real TT layout as I plan to spend far more time on the hobby when I retire, which may be as early as next year.
    All the best Bill. Look forward to your future videos.

    It begins... I have really enjoyed watching trains running on this layout, especially with the smaller locos, because the convincing countryside helped generate a really nostalgic branch line feeling. I particularly enjoyed enjoyed the "buffer cam" footage, looking forward to more one day. And I hope you're going to let us see a few trains running during the building process so that we can see the different stages - I'm sure I won't be alone in that wish.
    The section in front of the window - a thought came as you were speaking - how about slicing it in two, so that the inner tracks could be removed separately. Might that give enough access for routine window cleaning etc? I can't see it beeing more difficult than extra stiffening battens...
    Best wishes for the project!

    8:05 "..fish plates that I can push back".. Unless I misunderstand your intention, where you have any lift-out section there usually are no fish plates (rail joiners) employed between opposing rail heads (between the fixed in place track and the lifted out track) but instead are fed matching power separately, with only gaps at these places..For, if you DO employ slide-able joiners they're possibly going to get loose and wobbly, causing power intermittency..
    Plus, (and with apologies for repeating something I suggested earlier):
    For both drama of grade(s) and for storage/staging, I still think you should consider a 'down and under' scheme on new RR somewhere and where it might form a reverse loop as well.
    Anyway, looking forward Bill to seeing your developing new railway, and always look forward to your fascinating repair videos..

    For your new window board, especially, do have a look at the ModelTech ProTrack Rail Aligners. I have no personal experience of them, but they look like a great idea. Also, not expensive and much simpler than using copper-clad sleepers.

    Just a thought Bill . With the large lift out section where the window is why not do it in two boards .split the board down the middle so you have the three main running lines as one board and the other board will only have the sidings on it .just slide the first board out should give you access to the window . Can`t wait to see you get started .👍👍

    just and observation on the new layout you were talking about the lift out section with the points on i noticed one of you points is right on the board joins which will make it very hard to fit a point motor because of any base board framing could i suggest keeping the track plan as you have it but extend that board by 2 inch or so and reduce the corner board by the same amount to over come the problem , also you mentioned your engine repair shed why not join the 2 sections of track and have a double ended engine shed so the broken engine go's in one end and comes out repaired the other end just a thought looking forward to seeing the new layout

    • @oobill
      @oobill  Рік тому

      My track is and will be set onto thick polystyrene. I cut a well out under the point for the motor. A double ended shed is an option and I do have an alternative plan to do what you suggest. But I like my old shed so will have to wait and see. I'm sure many things will change throughout the build.

    But what I was going to ask is do you have any other social media? I assume you'll post updates on the demolition and reconstruction of the layout, but was wondering do you post elsewhere too? Another great video. What camera did you use for the on board filming? The section at the window, not sure the layout of the room obviously or the window type but would it make any sense to have a board that can fit on top temporarily with supports tactically positioned on points on the main board that can weight bear? I regret the lack of access I "designed" into my layout; it is not unknown for me to climb up the roof and access via the Velux window (weather permitting!).

    Hi Bill.
    You won't be able to have two trains continuously running on the inner and outer loops if you have a train 'crossing over' on to the outer loop unless, of course, you want them to crash (if you see what I mean). Still, that being the case, at least you will have the ability to repair your own locos. 😂 Therefore, two trains can only be run simultaneously if no shunting takes place that involves crossing over from one loop to the other.
    Also, what's going to happen with your 2-car 'Pacer' that continuously runs backwards and forwards without you getting involved?
    Perhaps you care to address the above queries please as at the moment, I'm rather baffled (nothing new there 😂).
    Paul.
    P.S. A shame about the demolition of one of my favourite YT layouts. Still, I suppose that's progress for you. Good luck with your new build. 👍

    • @oobill
      @oobill  Рік тому +1

      If I run a train from the sidings over the crossing and there's a train on the other line then I have to do exactly the same the real thing. Slow or stop the train! DMUs will run back and forth on the shuttle from the left and rightmost sidings. So I will have 3 train continuous running.

    • @platformten5958
      @platformten5958 Рік тому

      Bill.
      Okay amigo. I'm looking forward to seeing all this in action as a 3-train running session will be something to look forward to. Thanks for putting me straight and I'm glad my query made sense to you as it had me slightly bemused. 😂
      Cheers,
      Paul. 👍
