"Turning down the volume" sounds like a welcome trend in men's fragrances. Now that drydown materials are so restricted, perfumers have been relying on Godzilla-sized woody musks to make their scents last on skin, which is now beyond tiresome. Give me as much real oakmoss as you can use, boost it with a bit of Iso E Super, pick a musk that won't singe my nose hairs, and just let it play out for a few hours, not 12.
As a huge fan of Encre Noire, I have been waiting for your review of Encre Indigo. Thank you so much for your impressions and I will hunt this down since Lalique seems to be one of those brands whose perfumes are quite limited in distribution in physical stores. I never did find Encre Noire “swampy” but I was wondering if you’ve smelled Heeley’s Vetiver Veritas? The swampiness of that doesn’t really bother me (and maybe that’s why I’ve never found Vetiver perfumes as such) but oh boy, that one is an extreme example. It’s quite one note and linear though. I absolutely agree on perfume prices for the past few years. I have been appalled by Malle’s prices ever since they came out, and quite recently, when I was having a smell about in a store, I found myself going “Malle’s pricing is not that bad”. I had to stop myself - I have to remind myself that Malle’s pricing is quite high, but kudos to them not hiking up their prices like the majority of other brands out there - Malle’s offering has become reasonable compared to the ridiculously priced offerings out there!
I have bought encre noir in the past ive been a huge fan since. I also bought encre noir la extreme i didnt like it as it didnt smell as rich as the encre noir edt smelled to me IMO. This encre indigio got me very interested in buying.
I have no problem with scents having weaker projection and/or longeviety as different occasions call for different things. However, I don't like that it seems to be the new standard nowadays. Lalique also provides good value for your money.
Lalique Encre is a picket fence lifter. The moment on the fence, leave or join the show. Picket fences does reflect it well. I will test the indigo batch. My senses by describing went, into L'Eau Bleue d'Issey Pour Homme. Picket fence encounter. First sniff. Thank you 🧠

I know exactly what you mean about Malle… and it’s ridiculous that we’re starting to see their prices as semi-reasonable!

Indigo means the same in French and English. Lalique is hit or miss for me so probably going to pass but I always love your reviews.
Thanks very much 🙏
The prices you quoted are full retail. Just wait until it gets to the discounters
Fair point.

What else to notice.
Is this a safe blind buy?
I love the original EN.
I’m not sure anything is a safe blind buy. Sampling is always a sensible idea.
@@Persolaise Absolutely agree.
Having trouble getting a sample here. I do like the original...
Just going to wait I guess.
79 POUNDS for 50 ml????? what the hell happened??? you used to be able to get the original EN for less than 50 pounds. jesus christ.
Very true. And now, anything below £100 seems semi-affordable.
Over time they will become available for cheaper at discounters. Seen it online in France for 60 euros.
There wasn't an encre noir for women
Thanks for watching.
Encre Noire Pour Elle was released in 2009.
