The best part is when you say "Don't fear it".
Hahahaha!!! I have had mine apart since my buddy gave it to me in rough shape. I'm not fearing it. Haha.. But I can't get the damn thing to free spool/ Engage/disengage properly. The schematic shows a second spool spring. Your vid shows only one. I replaced the drag washer and I've been trying to figure out what else I can do.. The lever nut that your not supposed to remove is a bit gnarled but not too bad and still has its shape to it. I'm trying different things before I give in and send it to Accurate. Thanks for all your vids. I have a big collection and you've helped me a lot.
You may have the nut out of sync with he free spool lever. Make sure that the lever is in free spool position when you go to install and that the ramp adjuster studs are seated in the valleys of the corresponding ramp part below. That should put the reel in free spool - Dennis
I nearly bought a few Accurate spinning reels from Offshore Angler back in the the late 1990s. They were impressive reels just like this one. Great video Dennis!
They are and to your liking, made in the USA - Dennis
Hi Dennis,
Watching you complete another reel successfully never gets old !! (unlike an avocado-colored shag rug !) I'm sure the captain will appreciate your efforts.
Well done, my friend...
Cons
Thanks Cons - I promise to call today!
looks like a high quality made reel thanks for the video Dennis 👍🏿👍🏿
It is a high quality reel made in the USA - Thanks for watching Larry - Dennis
Great job Dennis
Thank you and thanks for watching - Dennis
Interesting to buy the single speed model in the 600 size. Perhaps he's worried his clients won't know what to do! I have owned the Accurate TwinDrag 30's for 8 years or so now and they're the best big game reels I've ever fished. If they were not well clear of $1,000 for the 50's I'd buy 4 of them as well but my Penn International V 50's still get the job done.
Good insight. Yes the reels are good but the pricing has certainly gone silly. Still, you do get what you pay for and good quality comes at a price. Best wishes for great fishing - Dennis
Nice job, Dennis. Just got two of these into my shop for service.
These are nice reels. Thanks for the note - Dennis
please do a 2 speed reel of this model
I will add your request to my list and do a video when a 2 speed reel comes in for service. Thanks for asking and for watching - Dennis
Hi Dennis. Great video as usual. I have the same reel but the 2 speed version. For some reason the holes that the gear side screws go into got corroded and now the threads are stripped inside the holes.
Any advise on how to repair this or am i looking at getting a new frame? l would post it to you except shipping from Ireland is expensive.
The salt water seeps inside and does cause corrosion. I think it best to contact Accurate. You probably need to replace the frame - Dennis
Is there a certain way to turn the tension washers? Looks like they may be a little concave?
There is no wrong way and not correct way. You can vary how you set them up. I prefer to set the first one with the cup facing up and the next one with the cup facing down and then repeat if there are more. These washers control the sensitivity of the star adjuster - Dennis
Dennis!!!! I’m dumb founded !!! I’m trying to put together a accurate boss 270 !! And have replaced the bearings but I can’t get the C clip in the drag lever arm !!! It doesn’t push through enough to push the C Clip on !!
HELP !!!! 🙏🏼
I am trying to remember the reel. It sounds like you may not have installed the A/R dog correctly and that is probably trapped behind the main gear so that you cannot pull it all the way through. I would recheck that - Dennis
Do you have a video on how to service a diawa Lexa
I don't have that video, but I will add it to my request list and do one when I get it in the shop - Thanks for asking - Dennis
Ok thanks for letting me know
I worry the main that the main gear is too thin and may strip ..
I have not seen that happen on these reels. Thanks for the not - Dennis
He needs to top off the line on that reel
I always recommend taking off the line when servicing and putting on new line when completed - So remove and replace should be part of the annual service routine - Dennis
