      I will add that to my list of requests. There really isn't much going on there. The assembly is removed by an internal clip and the drag washer sits in the carrier. Thanks for asking. Please stay tuned. I will try and let you know when I do one on the rear drag set up - Dennis

    I have the Penn Fierce 4000 Liveliner and used it three times. this last time I got a sizable catfish on and when reeling it in the spool and shaft popped out of the reel. is this fixable or should i try and send it back to Penn

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  2 роки тому

      It is fixable. It sounds like the crosswind block has broken. If you just got it, then it should be covered by their 1 year warranty, so I would send it back. If you are asking if I can fix it, yes. If you would like service and repair information, please send a note to my email 2ndchancetackle@gmail.com. Thank you - Dennis

    In related news I am trying to open my Conflict 4000 for servicing. It's caught a pile of nice weakfish so far this year along with a cownose. It's gotten a little stiff to turn and I know what to do save for one thing: I think the little case screws are locktited. Do you have any tricks besides penetrating oil and maybe heating the screws with a small soldering iron? If those tiny screws get their heads buggered it's game over.

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  4 роки тому

      There is no easy cure, so go ahead and try. If it is the blue Loc-tite from the factory, then hand strength generally can free it, If it is the red, then your soldering iron may free it, If it is salt and rust, you will likely break the screws. Try soaking the reel in fresh water overnight. The can generally loosen it if it is salt and rust. - Sorry, but you are literally in a bind with no easy solution - Dennis

    • @ChrisSchwamb
      @ChrisSchwamb 4 роки тому

      @@2ndChanceTackle It's not salt or rust .I maintain my stuff. I freed 2 of the 3 screws. #3 screw head buggered and I am now trying to patiently drill off the head. The larger slot head screws on the older reels are fool-proof. Lesson learned.

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  4 роки тому

      I didn't me to suggest that you are abusing your reels. Just that this stuff happens and that the way to work that one is a fresh water bath. Glad to hear you are more than half way there. I have a 6/0 on my bench with 8 of the 10 screws frozen. The fellow had the reel as a spare and it sat in an external rod holder on the bridge without ever being hosed down. As you say - lessons learned. Dennis

      These comments are for everyone's benefit. I was not at all offended. I'm just disappointed in how some tiny cheap screws make routine maintenance almost impossible. The older Penns last much longer with a little TLC.

    • @2ndChanceTackle

      This one was only used a few times according to the owner. It was having the problem and they tried to fix it, which would void the warranty, so it was brought to me to repair

  • @danielfrankenstein469

    Does the reel have a pinion bushing on the rotor? Looking at the schematic it shows 19a. However when I took mine apart and went to put back together I could not locate this part. Just curious if I lost it or there isn’t one.

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  2 роки тому +1

      19A is a small plastic cup bushing that sits inside the top of the pinion gear, where the axle shaft goes inside. It helps keep the axle shaft true and snug - It does not sit on the rotor - Dennis

    Hi Dennis. I've got a Penn live liner 6 new and need to adjust the drag on the free spool and in told I can adjust it at the rear of the reel - could you help me possibly? I don't want to damage the reel. It's brand new ! Thanks ! Adam

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  3 роки тому

      There are two drag systems in the livelier reel. The top drag in the spool is your tradition drag tat you use when fighting a fish. The rear drag controls the tension on the line release when you are in bait feeder mode. You can slow the speed (increase the drag) on the rear assembly by turning it clockwise. To reduce, turn counter clockwise - Dennis

    Do you have any videos on the fierce iii live liner. The drag on my fierce iii 8000ll will not work. I am unable to reel my line in and the spool spins. There is not clicking. Can anyone helpe out.

    • @2ndChanceTackle
      @2ndChanceTackle  3 роки тому

      The issue is most likely in the locking pin that comes off of the trip lever and intersects with the drag drag assembly to hold it firm. I do not have the version for the LL 3, but the following one, done for the 4000 LiveLiner II is near identical
      FYI - Dennis
