This a rare one, tucked away in the hills and mountains. They told me that they were extending, the work I was told had started, must pop in again next time i'm up that way.
@@wooltman I couldn't tell, I was in these parts last year and I didn't know that The Railway existed. I only found out about it after reading in a railway journal that they offered a bus replacement service as road works had cut off the village where the railway is situated.
We find and ride all sorts of railways Steve, this one was a bit different but they do have a steam loco coming it July. The scenery was lovely over the whole of our trip.......Best wishes Chris
An amazing location Chris, and well worth a visit, I've never seen anything like that loco before, it reminds me of the locos used underground in Mine workings....Regards...Bob
Lovely scenery Bob,I bet it gets cold up there in the winter. The loco is an ex mine loco. then the Channel tunnel, then the new London Cross Rail so she has been about.........Best wishes Chris
Terrible service that! we couldn't get Wi-fi on top of a mountain LOL! ..We saw some cracking scenery during our 880 mile weekend in Southern Scotland.Very tired now plus we cannot sleep as it is so hot.............Best regards Chris
You do find some unusual Railways Chris , I was waiting to see Rosie having a go in the driving seat ....those Hunslets sure are used on many railways ....dave
It is nice to show people the many railways of Great Britain, many they have never seen or heard of before Dave. The loco in use today was one that had been used on the new London Cross Rail and the Channel Tunnel,a very powerful beast.....Best wishes Chris.
I agree,we saw some lovely scenery over the weekend while traveling 880 miles around the southern half of Scotland and it was mostly sunny.....Thanks for commenting.......Best wishes Chris
Nice video as usual. In other news I'm happy to report that my Tinkers Park video is looking really good but only because I ran it through a program that was not Windows Movie Maker! Thinking of re-doing my recent Bluebell Railway one but not my Welsh one as the views have been really good!!! It (the tinkers Park ep') should be up next Saturday and I'd very much appreciate it if you could have a watch. Hope you're both well. Mark=
Hi Mark,Yes we are keeping well,a bit tired after traveling 880 miles around the southern half of Scotland, then come back to this VERY hot weather and we cannot sleep LOL! ..I will keep my eye out for the videos....You could try the UA-cam editing on this site I have seen some good videos from this..........Best wishes Chris.
Hi Luke.Yes we have rode that railway, a long time ago, since our visit they have put in an extension so will have to make another visit.....Thanks for commenting.......Best wishes Chris
How can this railway possibly run at sufficient profit to maintain is Ways and Works If seems to go from nowhere to nowhere and returns There are other narrow gauge railways further south that seem to do a good tourist traffic
Hi Michael....It is all run and maintained by volunteers so this keeps the cost down. They are hoping to extend the track another 1/4 of a mile to a small village so this will give it somewhere to go but it was an old Lead mine railway. The train we rode was the first of the day I would expect more passengers do use the railway later in the day.....The guys work very hard to put on this service so well done to them........Regards Chris
That is correct at the moment, work has started to extend further up to the next village.Let's hope everything goes well with that.Like everything they need man power and money.
Noisy diesel engine. Not attractive at all. Scruffy yard and platform. What's there for kids? Nothing to do or look at when you get to end of line. Needs more miles, and maybe make it do whatever it was designed to do to start with, to compliment the passenger side of things. Improvement needed.
I'm not making any excuses for the railway as i'm not connected to it,I was just visiting.True the railway could do with some money spending on it,but if you or others punters don't visit it will never get this much needed cash flow...They do have a visiting steam loco on galas..They are in the process of extending the line,so that will make it better at the top end,so it will get more miles as you put it..Agreed! as it's labeled a lead mine railway they could do more on this side.
Another interesting video! I've always been fascinated by this railway and its predecessor. Not yet visit thought.
This a rare one, tucked away in the hills and mountains. They told me that they were extending, the work I was told had started, must pop in again next time i'm up that way.
Was used quite recently as a bus replacement service. Which makes a refreshing change from the other way round.
Has the extension been completed Johnny?

They have the same type of locomotive at the WHHR in Porthmadog, Wales. It looks a little different because it has been given a closed cab.
Sailing slowly on, this little train is;
Great skies. Greenery. Unhurriedly. Peace.
Many thanks, that sums up this little railway very nicely...Happy Christmas to you and your family.......Chris.
A interesting video I like the brake van/ D.V.T
I believe it has or is being extended since our visit. Must visit again.
Great find Chris , i like the scenery but then it would be nice as its Scotland ! , What no WI- FI !!!!! LoL regards Graham

Very good, never spotted one of those at Birmingham's New Strret Station
No neither did I Michael lol! Something you might have seen when they were building London's cross rail.
another gem, Chris. Could be a bit bleak in the winter
Took a bit of finding Pete but all worthwhile.I bet it could get a bit bleak in winter............Regards Chris

there's a railway near me that I think is the highest standard gauge railway in Britain. It's the Pontypool Blaenavon railway.

wooltman Thank you for the information on the railways running. Here,s hoping you do manage to extend the track. All the best for the future
A half mile journey from nowhere to nowhere.

No wi-fi up there, but there is an echo...
Hi Paul.Your right/right/right...lol!......Cheers Chris
Remind me of bus
I believe it was a mine working loco before it arrived here Michael, they do have steam loco's visiting on Open days.....Regards Chris

@@richardjellis9186 You would be crouched down, I suspect. Look at the low profile of the diesel loco. Would be interesting though.
