It really is a good one, also the location is well worth a visit. Lovely gardens, also you can have a boat trip up the river. Best wishes Chris

I was recently at a classic car show at Newby Hall. A good day out but it would have been better if I had known about the railway. Definitely next year.

At trip to Newby Hall would not be the same without a trip on the railway Stewart. The gardens are very nice as well. Regards Chris

My favourite class of loco George, rebuilt or unrebuilt along with Jubilee's. Best wishes Chris

When it comes to people- carrying miniature railways, Great Britain is the place to go.

You are so right, we have many miniature/Narrow gauge and preserved standard gauge railways, we have been trying to ride all of them over the last 52 years and we still find new ones to add to the list. Regards Chris

@@wooltman for that reason Great Britain is on top of my list for next summer holidays. We're actually pretty well off here in Germany when it comes to heritage railways, but the miniature ones are quite rare here. What scares me a little is driving the wrong way round for weeks though.

I think a ride on a miniature railway such as this is as good as a ride on a full size one.
Either at the end of the day as long as they are steam hauled.

You are so right, size doesn't matter they are all modelled from the the full size, just as long as it's steam powered. Regards Chris

The hobby of model engineering is totally under-represented in the press. In particular the aspect of locomotives built in home workshops and the characters that build them😅

Totally agree, even the schools don't teach engineering now as far as I know. They would sooner rely on buying everything from China.

I could be mistaken but did this loco once run on the miniature line at Seaburn in Sunderland along time ago ,if so I remember this from my childhood sand once rode on it ,anybody out there have any further information please,

Saltburn railway is 15 inch gauge Jeff this is 10 1/4 so it wouldn't have been this loco. Saltburn does have visiting loco's from other railways so it could have been one of them.

Was this the place used in heartbeat when David was driving?

I seem to recall something but cannot be sure, checked on Google but cannot find any mention of it it being used in the program. Regards Chris
