the 'derivation' of the line-of-sight angle (tan theta = H/D) had nothing to do with the kinematics of the problem. it is simply a right triangle. i.e. the answer to the first question (what angle?) is, any angle you want depending on Vo, D and H. the derivation of Vo of bullet was fine. but still, GIVEN theta, D and change in H you can calculate the Vo and then time. other than that, all good!
