    I’ve watched a few dozen videos on the Zephyr route and this is very well done. As a southerner who sees maybe 10 snowflakes a year, I definitely want to take the trip during the Winter months, for the snow adds to the breathtaking factor.

    This summer, I will be embarking on the longest ride of my life... East Coast to West Coast. I will get to travel from Eastern Time (ET), Central Time (CT), Mountain Time (MT), and finally Pacific Time (PT)... four-time zones... on the Amtrak California Zephyr!! i will begin my journey in Business class from Albany to Chicago, spend 4 hours there waiting to pick up my Roomette on the Zephyr... This is going to be fun...

      The train ride is like long days, not suitable for service dogs. Also I get a sleeper car & the prices are like $500 to $875

      @@nathanrecio3165 King City? I don't think that gets served by Amtrak though I may be wrong.

    I think I worked that train from SAC to RNO as the California State Railroad Museum Narrator. It would have been my third trip as a narrator, covering the history of the Transcontinental Railroad, the contributions of thousands of Chinese laborers, and the resulting Central Pacific. I love doing the Donner Pass route.

      We heard some of your narration in the observation car. It was great.

    I guess there's no one to shovel the walks at Glenwood any more. Thanks for posting the video.

    Thank you for the video! It was awesome! You did what I don’t have to do now. I’m terrified of heights, water, and bridges. This is really therapeutic😃

    If I lived in NorCal, I would take that train to go to Truckee or to Colorado and go snowshoeing or cross country skiing...though I don't own any skis or much in winter equipment cus I live in SoCal and while the snowy mountains aren't too far (if you have a car) I can't access them easily cus I don't know of any bus that will take me there :(

    If your going from Emeryville to Chicago what is the best side to get your roomette on for the view during the day.

      In the high Rockies I think it's best on the right side for Gore canyon. Sierra's is best on the left. But really they are all good. You can't preselect right or left side. You won't know which way your car will be facing because they are randomly attached in yards.

    When did you leave Ca and when did you arrive in Denver. How long did it take? Was it bumpy and do you think a person who seemes to get car sick, do you think they would be ok? You had a sleeper with or without bathroom?

    • @edburnett
      @edburnett  4 роки тому +2

      Sorry for such a delay in replying. It took about 30 hours to get to Denver. You feel the movement of the train but I wouldn't say it's bumpy. I wouldn't worry about getting sick either. We were in a sleeper bedroom which has a toilet, shower, and sink. We recently went on a longer trip this year. The Coast Starlight up to Seattle, the Empire Builder from Chicago to Seattle, and the California Zephyr from Chicago to Emeryville. Total of 5 nights on trains with time in between at destinations.

      Get a sleeper on the lower level. Less rocking. Getting a good night’s sleep is essential for happiness.

    Good video and nice scenery. Too bad Amtrak is running it in the ground. Lazy, snarky, unhappy, and authoritarian employees. It is Unionized/Federal Operated/Taxpayer subsidized so go figure. Amtrak needs to be defunded. I took my first and last trip last week on the Texas Eagle and Cardinal. 72 hrs. of beautiful scenery and horrible customer service. The employees of Amtrak wouldn't last 3 days at a real job.

    • @chrisgrundgeiger4579

      Defund? Really? Amtrak would go out of business, and for a lot of people they would no longer be able to take a vacation, or commute on the East coast. There are snarky and rude employees everywhere, in both private industry and public employees. Did you file a complaint against those employees? No,you stereotyped them because they’re unionized. I watch a lot of Amtrak videos and most say the employees they encountered were very helpful and nice.
