- Welcome to another video. We are following the progress of this self built Campervan to a brand new Fiat Ducato lwb. The conversion is being built by my uncle Kevin who has been in the industry all his working life and also one of the reasons I am in the industry. He has owned his own Campervan manufacturing company in the past so has a wealth of knowledge which you can see when you look at the conversion.

@@dantheman321 looks similar to the Warwick layout….that’s what caught my eye
Superb! Absolutely love how the counter top was cut to match the curve of the fridge 😊 I watch a lot of van build videos and this one is quickly becoming one of my favourites.
One of mine too 👍

Looking very nice 👍
Thanks John, kev is doing a really nice job of his van 👍
So you get your van conversion skills from Uncle Kev then! Nice work!
Oh yes haha uncle kev and my dad 👍
Great looking rig Dan 👍
Yes he is doing a fantastic job 👍
ive never seen the breakfast bar idea for the drivers chair, its a great innovation. obviously i defer to the expert and everyone has their own opinion, but what strikes me as odd is the light colour of the trim piece on the angled step between the couches, i would have a dark piece of trim if it was my own van. perhaps its deliberate to highlight the step ?
Really like this build so far, very good effort 👍 What was the worktop sprayed with?
I think its called morrells satin wood finish
@@kevpr8450 did you put a lacquer over it…I know Morrells well from wooden parquet flooring
Hi Dan, really enjoying this, will there be more to come on this van? Also, a couple of questions if I can please? I am about to start a build on a 2010 elwb Transit, there aren't many out there that are built to a decent standard for inspiration but I hate the thought of screwing a ply floor down. I am planning on using 10mm closed cell foam for insulation (I am in Aus) would you cut that into strips and fill the troughs, then glue ply to the higher ridges? What is minimum size ply for lining the walls but still strong enough to get a decent fixing for cabinets etc? Thanks mate
Hi yes another video to come on this conversion just waiting for the upholstery to be done. With regards to the insulation yes I have done it like that before inbetween the ridges but which ever way you decide to do the flooring don't screw through the floor, it can do alot of damage.
Many thanks for watching 👍
@@dantheman321 Thanks Dan, yup it's the one thing I'm struggling with for design. I see so many people screwing down battens or sheets and it make me shiver to think of the rust problems! I also thought of sticking down ply, insulating that and then another ply sheet on top but it starts to get heavy. Whats your advice on the best way to fit a floor? I have only recently found your videos, so I'm making my way through them!
@@makeoverseas1369 I would say a timber frame then fill in the gaps and ply over the top. That's what I would do for my own van. My uncle is doing his at the moment and he's run it down to 1/2 (12mm) thick timber and insulation and that has worked well and doesn't take too much off the height either. Hope this helps👍
@@dantheman321 Thanks mate, yup, thats what I was thinking, as the transit doesnt have height to waste! 2 more q's if I can please? 12mm for floor ply? and what do you generally use for lining walls 6mm? it looks quite thin 6mm? I dont want to batten out the walls (apart from packing in places) but direct fix the ply the van skin.
I really appreciate you taking the time to reply, so again, thanks Dan!
@@makeoverseas1369 yes 12mm for the floor and 6mm for the sides and as you said screwed direct to the metal work. If you need extra strength on the sides for example where your bed support rails would go add a 12mm strip behind it so when you screw through you have 18mm to attach too.
Hope this makes sence
Speak soon
Dan
nice but have a little question, is there some isolation or none ?
Do you mean isolation or insulation? If you mean insulation then yes including the floor as well 👍
Many thanks for watching
@@dantheman321 yes insulation you are right, mother lunguage is not english, sorry, thanks for response
@@dantheman321 are these fiat ducatos any good
@@hotpointbrownlover3365 yes they are. If I build my own it will be on one of these👍
