wall hung media cabinet

- A simple looking but rather complex media unit.
the veneered panel im using is NZ Rimu (Red Pine) , hard to get in any form let alone pieces big enough and with adequate quality to be made into veneer. thus this one sheet cost around $500 nz.
i used Salice Pacta hinges on this one , here - salicedirect.com/products/sal...
I used Mirotec WB 8060 WB , clear coat by Mirotone
and Lusacryl semi gloss paint by Resene.
Good to see you again, Joey.
It's nice to see that even you, despite all your skills, make mistakes and how you fix it. It gives us all hope.. 😁👍
Joey, your work, your skill and quality are amazing. Well done.
By far, the best Cabinet maker on UA-cam. This is Art.
Cheers
Beautiful work, I so happy to see you, after listening to the last podcast with all the work you have ahead I’m very impressed you found time to edit and get the video out. Thank you 🙏 Take Care
Nice to see another build from you! Always crushin it!
I'm always fascinated by your choice of material, as we live on opposite sides of the planet. Looks sharp, as usual. Thanks
Attractive unit and built very well! Look forward to more of your work.
When you sprayed the back of the doors first, I thought, wow, someone with a brain. You have no idea how many UA-cam vids I've seen where they paint the outside first. I was amazed again when you covered the back with painters plastic, it is indeed the only way to prevent overspray. Kudos Joey.
you probably dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can stream pretty much all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been watching with my girlfriend for the last couple of days xD
@Johnny Esteban yup, been watching on instaflixxer for since november myself :D
@Johnny Esteban Yea, I've been watching on instaflixxer for since december myself :D
@Johnny Esteban Definitely, been using instaflixxer for since november myself =)
Great to see you back Joey!
Good luck to the Black Ferns and the ABs this weekend! Kick some Aussie butt!!
Awesome video Joey ! Been awhile , but have been following you on Instagram to see what you have been up to . Congrats on all the work you’ve been getting and the post that was published about you . Must feel good to be recognized ! Thanks
Damn that Rimu ply is a beauty. Great job man!
Those door hinges are awesome!! I can see how this took quite a bit of time, that cabinet is perfect!! And soooooo beutiful 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks
Looks perfect as always! Thank you Joey!
Great job Joey! Thank you for sharing the video with us.👍😎JP
Beautiful work , great job challenging hinges but they are a nice piece of hardware...
Hey Joey, fantastic build, beautiful workmanship. Thanks for taking time to do these videos ... it’s very much appreciated. I always learn something new. Would like to have seen how you mounted such a heavy unit. Cheers!
Bruce - Perth WA
Always stylish. Really like your stuff.
You always use the coolest hinges.
Nice build, thanks. I love the cable access port you made and especially the thinking around cutting the piece out with a narrow bit so you could then keep the piece to maintain grain consistency and fill "kerf" with lipping etc, (nothing short of brilliant). Cheers, David
Cheers David
J'adore tous ce que tu fait! tes créations sont stylé bravo !! Good job 😉
Excellent job.😊👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Seriously! Who gives this a thumbs down? They obviously do not appreciate or know anything about quality when they see it.
Cheers
Wow! Lovely stylish furniture and super cool but very expensive hinges.
Lovely job Joey
Great video and interesting build.
As always, a very good work
Thank you for the video I like the way you work and the way you do the videos, where do you get the black biscuits you used on the miter’s .
Awesome build !
Indeed!
Good to see you back!
Are you near Auckland, I have some Rimu veneer panels recovered from an old desk.
looking for an apprentice? I'm from AUS but will happily re locate to my NZ neighbours to work with you. great craftmanship great vid mate.
Perfect job 👍.
Big like 💐
Tanks for sharing that, well done!
Lookin good, thanks for sharing.
Looking good sir!
Hi Joey
What hanging system will be used?
Excelent work as usual. No news.
You will surprise us only if you fail some work.
Love it mate
The customer is always right ... I'm sure you made them very happy. I'm taking a pass on one for me but you did great.
Wow, super great watching you work as always Joey. That door mechanism is sexy.
But where is your ventilator man, we don't want you keeling over cuz your lungs got gooped up.
Hope to see more when you have time!
Beautiful build as always, glad you're back and look forward to some new videos.
What type of mounting did you use to fix this to the wall?
With the 18mm backing panel it can just be screwed to the studs.
First Class! Always.
Whoooooooo .... It”s very good
Bravo young man! You are one of my favorite craftsman to watch working. What are the winters like in New Zealand?
Fairly mild in the north island maybe 2deg c for a couple hours in the morning then it warms in the sun. The south island can be much colder with snow to sea level. Cheers
Thanks for the video Joey. It was really interesting to see something so simple looking yet complex and high quality.
Where did you get the bristle on aluminum strip from?
It looks like a door sweep to me
Those hinge covers are really cool. I've never seen that from Blum before.
Not Blum. See description
Got it. I heard you mention the Blum jig.... I assumed and... Well... that was a mistake! Nice touch.
The pop out cable tidy. I saw a guy cut one upside down on a CNC with a 45° V cutter until it just cut through. He then glued on a triangular block of timber to all edges. No kerf lost at all.
Where do I find hinges like that? Particularly with the feature that stops them at 90°. Is it pretty sturdy?
What spray paint did you use? Amazing work!
When you received the price of the veneered ply, did you clarify that you only needed "one' sheet and not an entire pack 😂
Cool, thanks for getting back. How do you find the Hammer panel saw? I’ve been looking at them or saving a lot more and going with Felder
I love it. There is not much difference in a comparable model felder. Unless you want the bells and whistles. I can see some areas where the build quality could be improved which I guess they have done on the felder. For me for the money its perfect
KingPost TimberWorks I had a Hammer Spindle moulder but swapped it out for the FELDER one to run doors and windows, there was nout wrong with the Hammer. Keep up the good Videos sir
синяя изолента наше все) плюсанул сразу
It has been a while.
Glad you're back.
first
I have my router table rigged so it fits in my Workmate (only have one because it folds away) worth looking at
Hey Joey, awesome job. How are you finding the Parafix glue? I saw it in Bunnings yesterday for about half the price of the Selleys but wasn't brave enough to try it.
Nice unit, what were those drop down hinges? I like that you don’t need the drop arm
In description
What sort of applicator are you using to put your varnish on please
Very nicely done! I really like it. What is that spraying gun You use?
It's a Graco ultra
@@KingPostTimberWorks I've checked it on Amazon...the price suggests it's a Rolls Royce among spraying guns.
@@KingPostTimberWorks Could You briefly explain why is it Your choice?
Its cordless and airless, and reasonably easy to clean. It does a pretty good job for what I want.
As good as ever ... 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
great job.....did you edge band the mdf?
No never do. Just prime and sand and paint and sand and paint.
Would you mind posting a link to the brush thing that you used inside the insert at 13:25? I have been looking for some of that but cannot seem to locate it. Thank you.
Hey, nice video. What kind of white paint you used?
In description
Always an air off quality 👌
What is the best
Plywood or MDF ?
But why you use MDF
which kind of extractor fan do you use for spray paint? it is an atex one?
Just bought an explosion proof air mover. And added a filter
So you made a (rather unique / nicely done) cable port, so I assume there's going to be electronics in here - but I don't see any provision for (forced) ventilation. Did the customer spec it that way? (I understand that not everything with a plug needs lots of cooling)
Good work as usual, nice to see others make the odd mistake, I beat myself up when I do. Can I ask you, what type and speck is your hand planer you use to plane the edges and also I know you didn't show the hanging method and brackets etc but could you please share with me the ones you used? A pic or link to the products for example. Many thanks and I hope you and your family stay safe as regards the world wide virus.
Hi there , generally I make cabinets with at least a 16mm backing then just screw right through into studs .
I initially read it as Well hung media cabinet... 🙄
I need to get my head out of the gutter 😂😂😂
Real nice job there Joey, make the vids when u can, we're not goin anywhere so no pressure.
I'd rather have the occasional high quality video than weekly vids of dross... no need to climb onto THAT threadmill.. 😎👍☘
I love your work .... Can you share your work measurements
Sometimes especially with smaller Items you can avoid overspray by laying it flat on clean Paper. Even those advertising newspapers work and are free.
excelent
What kind of paint sprayer is that?
Great video man...;-p
Fab!
👍👍
SUPER
At first I thought it said 'well hung..' Had to do a double take.
Hello hope you are okay. May I ask please, how many working hours did it take you to make this cabinet? Thanks in advance
Hi, this would have been easy if not for the cut out in the top. I think I spent close to 40 hrs on this
@@KingPostTimberWorks oh my God really! So how many billing hours did you charge the client? If it was not for the top how many hours, 10?
Another great video! That's a proper concentration face @ 18:32 :')
What was the spray gun you used ?
Graco ultra.
A lot of work and done very well - I did wonder how it was fixed to the wall
Chris
Oh , just screwed through the 18mm back panel to wall studs
I hate your table saw!! My dream machine!!
Does anyone know the applicator he uses for his clear/top coat?
Called a speed brush here.
@@KingPostTimberWorks Thank you!!
Your neighbors with my dads work
I would have totally made the door faces with the same wood,,, you probably even had material left for it. white doors no way... I like the hardwear though
No material left. Client wanted white doors.
Do you use 1k or 2k paint?.
1k
