One thing I really like about Gertrude Jekyll, is that the blooms retain their beautiful scent. I put some on my night stand and let them dry. So far, this is the only rose that has kept it's beautiful scent. Other roses lose their fragrance or it changes.
Good luck with the Gertrude J, one of the better roses by D.A. We have a red Tess of the d'ubbervilles in a pot. Would love to put it in the ground, but I have so many tree roots. It's hard to dig. Great info on what to do in winter( which is probably nothing). I also live in zone 7b(maybe 8 depending on which website) and also feel like since David Austins are bred for zone 4, they will do ok in a pot in zone 7 unless it gets to below zero for very long. Dont want to be moving these huge pots in and out all winter. Maybe throw an old blanket around them for a true arctic blast? Anyway...great video 👍.
Thank you! I have a Boscobel rose that I keep in a grow bag. That way I can lower it in to a decorative pot in the summer and easily take it out and put in the shed through the winter. It is doing great.
Nice video. thank you! Can't wait until I can get a Gertrude Jekyll!!! What do you think about planting the rose inside a grow bag in the pot first? I have a DA pink Strawberry Hill climber and have been contemplating either filling pot with soil or doing the bag in a pot method.
I love planting things in grown bags. It would make it easy for you to put in an unheated shed or garage, too! I have another rose that I do that way and it has workd out great!
@@Lahzri Thank you! I use Bonide Rose Rx Multi-Purpose Fungicide, Insecticide and Miticide www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000BQP5I0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I learned that about planting in pots from Laura at Garden Answer❤❤❤
I love the planters she does!

@TheGardenMouse Boscobel is a beautiful fragrant rose. At what temperature do you bring it inside the shed?
