  • Today I am back to basics. Paisleys, rainbows, rectangles, they are all different designs. They are perfect overall fillers. And they share similarities. Today I focus on the basic rules behind every single echo based design. I spend some time for each of them. They are easy but there may be some challenges. They are mostly related to the odd spaces left out. The key to beautiful texture is your strategy to fill the space.

This was so awesome. I’m glad you let it go all the way through on the designs as it was good to see how the designs worked out in all the spaces. Those concentric squares definitely look like a huge challenge in keeping the right directions. I would definitely have to practice that one a lot. Thank you again for taking your time to share your talent with us. I appreciate you very much. Have a great weekend ❤❤

Hi there!. Thank you for your awsome feedback. the rectangles are not so bad, but demand a change in thinking. I had more problems with the small sandwich. I kept hitting the edge of the table. Usually I am better at straight lines ❤❤❤. Have a good day!

This is a quilting meditation! Clearly I’m a quilting nerd, too, because it was so helpful to watch a nice long segment of each pattern to see the ins and outs of filling in not just the center but all the awkward bits plus finishing up along the edges. Thank you!

You are welcome. Thank you for this great feedback. I agree, you are also a quilting nerd. I remember watching some videos over and over again trying to understand a pattern. I learned feathers that way. I happy I could help and provide inspiration. Hearts are next❤❤❤

Paisley started in the center rather than an edge gives a whole different effect. I love it!!

You know that I always started thiose pattern from the edge?! It is always amazing what small things can do. When I started from the middle, the quilt had much more dynamics! ❤❤❤

Thank you! I wanted to focus more on the mechanisms behind pattern since a long time. And the music is necessery. I needed some time to find something suitable in the YT library. ❤❤❤

You are very welcome! It started as a basic idea that all those designs are very similar from the principle. And then I realized that some are easier than others and the edges and finishing can be challenging. I learned a lot as well❤❤❤

PLease do not rush while quilting. It is a slow art and channeling creativity and love should take time! Thank you for your comment! ❤❤❤

Have fun! It is not difficult, but it is good to take it slow. The dynamic of this one is different than that of the more organic designs. ❤❤❤

Thanks for these demonstrations. It is so calming to watch, especially with the background music--such a difference than me actually doing this on my own!😆 Your video has given me a bit more confidence.

Hi there! You are wwelcome. Actually, I listen to music while I quilt. It is a different one but it is rather slow. I noticed, my quilting has an optimal speed and it is slower than I thought. take a deep breath, relax and quilt. knowing you can and should make misteakes helps a lot ❤❤❤

Your comment goes to my super special collection! Thank you for this awsome feedback. Quilting is a slow art and it works better when we are slowing down. I also got better since I started this channel. I had to slow down as the camera had problems to focus. And it got way more relaxing. I am so happy to hear it😃😃❤❤❤

Give yourself room for mistakes. Relax and enjoy your work. Rest is exercise, practice and collecting expirience. Hugs!❤❤❤❤

I love love love watching you quilt I’m learning to relax while I try what I’m seeing. What foot are you using for your free motion? The one you normally use also.

    • @quiltingnerd
      @quiltingnerd  5 місяців тому

Hi there! thank you for your comment. Quilting is one of the best forms to relax and rest mentally. I call it the slow art and I embrace it. Hectic is bad for quilting. About the feet: I am switching between the ruler foot and my fmq feet. All of them came with my Janome. In case of Janome machines you can get those feet as a part of the purchase.

If you were filling a block, would you go all the way to the edge?

    • @quiltingnerd

Yes! Actually, I would go first all the way around the edge towards the middle. I will try to show the apprach in my next video!❤❤❤

You are welcome! I noticed that it is easy to quilt those patterns when you just use a few of them in a mixture. But using only a single one to fill an area is more challenging. It was a good exercise also for me. ❤❤❤
