Did you see the upcharge for getting either the 2070 or 2080 GPU? Not a steal at all, mate. They are ripping you off big-time. +1,030 dollars to go from a 2060 to the 2080! You'd have to be a fool to fall for that. That kind of money can build a complete PC that runs pretty decently.
Mine just arrived. I ordered the 2060 with intentions of upgrading next year or something. That said, I am shocked at just how well it runs. Great fps, great thermals. No throttling at all. It benchmarks as well as the desktop version and even keeps up with more expensive 2080 max Q laptops. As crazy as it sounds, I consider the $2400 I spent for the 144hz, GSync monitir and 2060 a pretty good deal.
I also went for the 2060. I didn't have the money to splash on a top of the line laptop at this point, but needed to replace my Acer nVidia 710m laptop. I have an AMD build desktop as my main system, but need something portable for work, as well as other creativity tasks. Hopefully, I can upgrade in a year or two. Just need to wait for delivery!
@@dookiemead8590 Goodluck man. I've heard some people have been having issues with their 51m. I was gonna get one but decided not to. I rather just wait for a revision or until it's been out for at least a year. Keyboards not working and graphics cards burning out etc.
@@coolmodee Thanks. I believe it seems to be the 2080's burning out after a BIOS update. Something about it increasing the wattage. However, not happening to all 2080's. Hopefully, I should be alright with the 2060.
I've had my Area 51m for almost a month now and i love it. i got the i9-9900k, RTX 2080, 32gb ram combo. i use it mostly like a desktop running an external Alienware ultrawide 34in 3440x1440 120hz G-sync monitor. i also use it to run a VR racing simulator setup with a Samsung odyssey VR headset and a steering wheel rig. it's a big upgrade from my old Alenware 17r2 laptop i was using to run the same sim racing setup that was bottle necked by the 5 year old CPU. i already have the Alienware graphics amplifier i was using with the old 17r2, so i can always stick a better graphics card in there in the future if i have to. or if future cards aren't available in the Dell GPU form factor. i'm stubborn and prefer laptops over desktops since i can use them to tune my car in the garage or on the front porch and other areas of the house. i probably could just keep using my old 17r2 to make tune changes on the car though. for me i didn't see the point in getting a non mobile desktop when this can do the job and be mobile, but i admit i probably won't want to take something this expensive when i travel either. lol.
@Zfast4you i have one in the basement. it's a big heavy POS and it's in a room i don't like to go in. other family members like to use it for some reason.
Cpu and gpu thermals more in depth would be nice. That’s the main issue with putting a desktop grade cpu and gpu inside a laptop. Kinda disappointed you guys didn’t point this out. That’s the main concern for potential buyers. I have a Helios 500 with 8750h. Running pubg for 4-5 hours my cpu temp only gets to around 70-72C @3.9ghz and gpu temp never passes 60C. Can you guys include some type of real life gaming scenario to see the the actual temperature?
They are, kinda. You have to know what you're doing, but it is possible to swap out the GPU, as many laptops use the same shape for the chip. CPU and RAM upgrades are the same as on a desktop.
No ways, just the 9900k is the top CPU for this Mobo and the 10th gen wont fit in... Now if you can upgrade the Mobo like any other components and its not outrageous well that could be a good compromise.
This would be the computer for me if I had that kinda money. Laptops are just so cool to me. Y'all definitely gotta revisit this laptop in like 3 to 5 years to see how the upgrading stuff turned out.
11:00 that’s not true anymore. Some of the newer g-sync laptops let you disable it. The laptops never used a module like the desktops did. I think they could open up VRR for 144hz displays with a driver update, but they use it to let vendors have product segmentation.
the keyword is some. But very few do. I actually asked one vendor why not offer that in the BIOS like the competition and was told they felt consumers would get confused and then yell at them for forcing them to reboot it. In general, I stand by the statement though. Very few vendors offer the ability to switch from Gsync to Optimus that it's fair to say practically zero.
I saw somewhere that Dell was actually planning on allowing other companies to use their Alienware gpu standard to make it a universal standard unlike mxm.
Really great review overall. All I hoped to hear was a little more about thermals, and a few more gaming benchmarks since you focused so heavily on this being the best possible gaming rig. But I appreciated all the extra discussion and analysis.
We actually forgot to mention a thermal image, but it's pushed right to the limit of the 9900K. The keyboard deck does stay relatively cool at about 100 F which--is fairly good.
@@FakeGordonMahUng Thank you for the reply. Were you also comfortable with the GPU/CPU temps (CPU especially?) Do you think it's worth it to purchase the 9900k and overclock, or if you're more concerned about thermals is the 9700 also a good call? Thank you again.
Just received mine yesterday and pics and video do not do this laptop justice. It is absolutely gorgeous and a dream to type on. Ordered mine through HIDevolution with a delidded 9700k, 2080. Haven't had time to benchmark yet but will soon and will come back and link to results and thermals.
I've been using Eurocom (Clevo) laptops for years. My current model is the Sky X4E2 with a 7700K that shipped with a GTX 1060 6GB card (I got the 330W power adapter rather than the standard 230 as I planned to OC and anticipated the possibility of upgrading the GPU in the future; I just really couldn't afford the 1070 at the time and didn't see much need for it at 1080p). After around 2 years I finally got to the point where I decided the time was right to upgrade the graphics now that games at 1080p are requiring more graphics horsepower (games like Assassin's Creed, Shadow of the Tomb Raider etc.) so I pulled the trigger on the GTX 1070 8GB card and I couldn't be happier. It's a night and day difference, overclocks well (I have yet to test the limits, but so far I've gotten a Fire Strike score of 16,571 for the system, 19,760 for the graphics with an OC of +124MHz on the core and +426MHz on the VRAM and I keep the CPU at a full 4.6GHz across all cores full-time and my temps top out around the low~mid 80'sC (it was lower with the 1060, but I used Kryonaut originally and when I did the upgrade I used IC Diamond 7; I've already ordered some Kryonaut paste from Amazon to re-do the CPU and GPU). The upgrade was fairly straightforward, just a few screws, a mini power cable, some thermal pads and the paste and the rig was ready to rock. I wish the industry would adopt MXM as a standard and actually maintain a single standard (i.e. the same design/pinout/power etc. for cross-device/cross-generation compatibility) and I'm sure that someday they will adopt some kind of standard, especially as GPUs and CPUs become more efficient/cooler and more and more gamers migrate to gaming laptops for the added portability/flexibility vs desktops. They've already done it with the CPUs now that you can get a desktop chip in a standard socket without the CPU being soldered on the board (my 7700K is even delidded), so I really do think it's only a matter of time before these OEMs say enough is enough and adopt a standard across the board to make upgrading these systems much easier, at least for the more powerful/high end desktop replacement gaming rigs (the thin and light models have obvious limitations that would prevent them from adopting such standards). I was hoping that with NVIDIA's dedication to the mobile market with Pascal, things would get better and it would translate to more options, more standards and more flexibility for high end laptops, but unfortunately with Turing they're back to the same old tune of 'no upgrades for you!' which is really unfortunate, because I'm certain I'm not the only one who would be willing to purchase a newer gen card for my laptop if that was an option, especially if the price was reasonable.
Had one for a little over a month and it’s been flawless. Not one hiccup and a gaming/editing monster. Highly recommended. 9900k, rtx2080, 64gb ram, 2tb m.2 SSDs raid 0. Everything 100+FPS 1080p, and 60+fps 3440x1440, max all settings. #kingoflaptops 2019
In this clip this guy is using his new M51 for his DAW workstation. At the 6.30 min mark you can hear him talk about how the render times are slower with his i9 9900k compared to his i7 in his Alienware 17 R5. His new M51 9900k is 1.5 times faster rendering. And his i7 R5 was 2.5 times faster in rendering with his set up? He still loves his M51 unit but he doesn't quite understand why that its rendering slower ua-cam.com/video/pExdn2LOjw0/v-deo.html
Just wondering why all the benchmarks were shown compared to 1 and 2 year old systems running i5's and i7's, and 10 series graphic cards. There are plenty of i9-9900k laptops out there that would have made it a great comparison. Instead, it's like benchmarking a Lambo against a Lada.
Heads up for anyone looking to buy one... I’ve just had a nightmare with the Area 51M, I’ve just taken it out of the delivery box and it won’t run for more than 5 minutes without glitching out and crashing. I’d also appreciate any advice as to what the problem actually is! I’ve uploaded a video to my channel detailing the problems and showing the glitching.
Unfair comparison as you don't have benchmarks for the Area 51m main competition. The Clevo/Sager P-870TM, the ASUS Rog G703 GX Chimera, and the MSI GT75 Titan RTX.
@@pcworld Hello, thanks for the reply. I understand, it's just the title is misleading, how can one declare the Alienware Area51M the holy grail of gaming laptops if not pitted against its main competition. It's a bit deceptive, especially knowing the Area 51M loses on most GPU bound tests, espcially Port Royal to the Asus ROG G703GX because that 17 inch gaming laptop has an OCed RTX 2080 with a 200 watt TDP instead of 150 watt like on the Area 51m or MSI GT75 Titan. I also saw no mention of the area51m's RAM being locked to 2400MHz despite being 2666MHz sticks because Alienware's bios has issues.
Still running 6700HQ, and 980M, with 32 gigs DDR4. Come at me. B) On a more serious note, alot of people beat on Alienware, and my first gaming laptop was an alienware 17 with 860M graphics chip. it was well built, and do miss it. My current laptop is an ROG G752, and have to say, its alot harder to tear down, and , maintain. alienware is beats it in maintenance practicality.
I’ve heard a lot from users who claimed the RTX 2080 51m machines died within a short time, some are i7 while others are i9, but all 2080 not 2070, fried motherboard, have anyone encountered this? I am having my eyes on this machine but I am haunted by the bad experience from my previous gaming laptop (fried motherboard of Aorus laptop i7 6820hk+1070)
@@FakeGordonMahUng Okay. Would like to see you guys review that system. Have you review the i9-9900k Origin EON17-X? This one might give the Area 51M a good run.
what type of alienware laptop is that you have? I have the m15 r4 and it gets really hot, when i went into the command system the thermal says full speed but I dont hear the fan running at all. Would you happen to have any suggestions? Im not sure if this means the fan is broke or if its a sumple setting I need to change. Thank you ❤️
But it doesn't last. My unit's palm rest is already fading with under 2 weeks of usage. The paint just yellows up and looks dated. I am going to get a black replacement chassis.
@@VeritechGirl You can put a clear carbon fiber vinyl on it and then it'll hold up nicely. The only area prone to wear is the palm rests which I've protected now so no more problems.
I’m really stuck between the GS75 Stealth maxed out upgrades (from CUK), and the Alienware area 51m with the equivalent upgrades. The price points are far apart but either way despite the price of the AW , I’d get it anyway. With that being said, I also need it not for just gaming but also productivity because I’ll end up using it for school too. Any thoughts?
With the 2080 RTX included is it possible in BF V/Metro to turn on DLSS? Nvidia specs says DLSS is only available in the 2080 at 1440p, not 1080p. This would suggest you’ll never be able to use it in the Area 51M when using the 2080, and therefore never benefit from the perf improvements.
I think you're confused. Clevo is the holy grail of State-Of-The-Art laptops. They've been offering desktop replacement computers with desktop processors for several generations now.
Still waiting on mine that I ordered through Xoticpc. Apparently there have been some delays on getting the units in. I ordered mine with the i7 9700k, RTX 2080. Already got all my RAM and SSD'S sitting at home waiting. I already had to reschedule my time off because of the delays. I might pay the extra to bump it up to a rush order, as I don't want to reschedule my time off again hopefully.
No acoustic measurement during high load? Fan dB comparison with Alienware 17 or other laptops? Sure it has beefy fans but would be nice if the move more air without being louder
So do no other laptops offer replaceable graphics? And what other laptop or convertible would anybody recommend compared to this (Spectre/Microsoft Book)? Thanks in advance
I believe so. What I did notice, unless it has changed, is the Core i9 option got deep sixed. I don't know if that's related or a decision due to i9 supply. It could be they decided to save on CPU TDP for the GPU performance.
Are you aware of NSA and Intel Computer built into your CPU that tells system what you can't and can do. Intel is only compeny I know whith spy tech AMD doesn't have this
@@kalbokaokafor There is away to remove the hidden computer on Intel CPus and motherboards. involves removing and replacing a BIO and entering Hardware coding. Only people who work in computer programming and work for intelligence know how to do that stuff.
Upgradability would be cool, if you didn't only have ONE supplier. Also, every desktop I've had has been "upgradeable" and besides adding more memory, or maybe an SSD, I just used them until I bought the next NEW desktop. I never upgraded anything. So I'm not sure if this feature is really all that cool for someone like me. If DELL absolutely committed to making reasonably priced upgrade kits, that kept the laptop useful for 5-10 years then maybe.
In my case , I'll buy this laptop for the raw performance i know the bulk is factor , but i also have a surface laptop for lightweight things. So this will be primary for gaming when im in another state doing something else.
Proud owner of one for 6 months. Could be happier with it! A bit of confusion in Linux at the beginning, but once solved, the thing flies rendering/doing anything else at the same sime. Expensive as hell, but worth it. Next week Amplifier arrives... Can't wait!
Now if they can put out a BIOS update for the 2060/2070 to make them relative to the desktop versions... the 2080 is getting all of the love. Yet my 2070 model is around 30% slower than the desktop model.
Dont know what's up with your 2070, but I have the 2060 A51m. It IS just as good as the desktop version. Heck, it beats a lot of the 2080 and 2070 MAX-Q benchmarks shown here and in other reviews. It's very impressive.
@@christophermartin7744 Well the desktop 2070 hits about 21k-22k on firestrike if I remember correctly, highest score I've been able to get is 19.3k. Also the desktop TDP is around 185W, 51m 2070 limited to 120W at the moment.
@@christophermartin774415.6K is the highest notebook 2060 score (51m) the desktop version is around 19.5K. Not sure why you think you're getting desktop performance, when clearly my 2070 is barely outperformed by the desktop 2060 at the moment.. But.. I spoke with Frank on twitter and he said Joe is currently working on a TDP update for the 2060/2070, so we should get desktop performance (or very close to) when they release the update.
I've not run any synthetic benchmarks, but I have run in-game benchmarks using the built-in benchmarking tools and my A51m 2060 has been crushing them. Shadow of the Tomb Raider on ultra with SMAA enabled is scoring 81 fps, for example. Hitman, Ultra SMAA is averaging 127 fps. Farcry 5, 96 fps on Ultra SMAA. The Division 2 on Ultra, 81 fps. All meeting or exceeding the 2060 benchmarks I've seen and destroying the other 2060 laptops like the Triton 500 (as I would expect from a "desktop" class laptop). I am new to benchmarking, though, so am I missing something? The whole reason I benchmarked it was to determine if I wanted to send it back. Shortly after i ordered the A51m, and while waiting for my order to ship, I saw rumors about heating issues and then saw a review for the Triton 500, which seemingly has similar specs but was much cheaper. Well, since getting the laptop, my fears have been squashed. I have no heating issues and this thing is a beast. I'm thinking about putting a video together since I haven't seen anyone do that yet. m.ign.com/articles/2019/01/07/nvidia-geforce-rtx-2060-founders-edition-review-and-benchmarks
I mean... if those benchmarks are UNDERPOWERED I cant wait to see what happens when the problem is "fixed". Then again, my GPU temps never climb over 70 and rarely even hit 65. Is that an indicator that it is not drawing as much power as it could?
Come on guys! Where is Asus ROG strix GL702ZC at Cinebench R15 nt benchmark chart? It would be on 3rd place btw, with score 1413 stock (16x3,2GHz) and 1563 when OC (16x3,6GHz)
Yawn, upgrading is largely a myth, as the new generation component are not generally compatible with older existing MOBOs, sockets, etc. associated parts....but it Sounds nice.
Great review Gordon, I think this maybe my next laptop. How do you think it would balance with the Core i7 option instead of the i9? How about going with the 2070 vs the 2080? I mainly do video and photo editing, the last game i actually played on any of my laptops was the new CoD and it actually played on my G75VW, Core i7, 32GB RAM, 1TB Samsung SSD, 4TB HDD, 2GB GTX 660 on a 17.3" screen so i think a 2070 would be a huge jump. Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions? Thanks Gordon Milo
I honestly feel there is/was a lot more tuning to be done on the Helios 500 too. But that's the problem with not being the prevalent platform in mobile. Hopefully that improves.
I actually believe that it's not possible to implement gsync and switch to integrated gfx seamlessly which is what laptopmag alluded to. Their review was up around 2 mos ago so AW must have chosen them to hype the product before the fact. Anyway, that's quite lenient on their part if what they put out there is incorrect info for 2 mos.
@@gelo1523 what's been done now is a switch in the bios/uefi. I did find the panel options a little odd with the 1080 60 gsync and no sync option. I can say a vendor (not aw) said they are afraid consumers will just be confused by a switching capability so they didnt.
I saw this in Microcenter Today. I currently have the Alienware 17" with GTX1080. The only reason to even want this new machine is to have RTX, but my problem is the case. It's not as nice as my Alienware 17". The new RGB placement makes NO SENSE compared to the design of the RGB on mine. They weight the same. Parts are so expensive, YOU AIN'T GONNA BE UPGRADING SHIT. I don't see the logic in RTX on a laptop. At least not yet.
I was looking forward to this video but am left rather dissatisfied by the review. The comparison in this video was pointless, and not helpful at all. How about an apples to apples comparison by comparing it to, for example, the Clevo p775tm with the 9900k/rtx 2080, or the HID Evolution offered Clevo p870tm-r with a 9900k/rtx2080 that has a vapor chamber heat sink, or at the very least the MSI GT-75 with the 8950HK and the rtx 2080. This video was very biased and not a true representation for what's out there. I have nothing against Alienware, but Clevo (aka, Sager, Evoc, etc.) has been using desktop components for years as opposed to Alienware's claim of being the "first or only" laptop that uses desktop and/or replaceable components!
Let me mention again: this is a review of *this* laptop compared to other laptops which we have reviewed. At the end, we mention that this will be the laptop to beat. Under your view, we'd get this laptop and then not mention any performance until we get X laptop and then Y laptop. And then, well, someone would say, where is D laptop or F laptop? Would we just wait until *every* single laptop is reviewed? I am sure we will be seeing Clevo and MSI and Acer and Asus big laptops too. But you start somewhere. This is one of several RTX laptops we have but the only RTX 2080. And, frankly, the news here is what Alienware is trying to do with an end-user upgradeable GPU, what it's plans are and whether it'll cost more or not. What do you think of those features?
@@FakeGordonMahUng Thats not the point Gordon. Please take this as constructive criticism. This is a desktop replacement laptop, hence it should have been compared with similar products. You did cover the benchmark scores with an actual desktop which was very well done. yes. two M.2 + HDD. Games installs are YUGE now. 75GB foot print sometimes. A 4TB HDD is $120. A 2TB M.2 SSD is $500. Having a place for bulk storage is a good thing if you ask me. It's not like the HDD is what makes this laptop large either so I'd prefer 2.5-inch bays in large gaming laptops.

Here is my experience with the Area 51m and Dell customer service. I bought it from HIDEvolution on Amazon. They apparently tell us that "It is rare for a product that we have quality checked to fail so quickly, but it does happen from time to time." They are of no help either so far. Update: I posted the same review on Dell's website and I received an email that my review is against their guidelines. So they cannot publish my review on their website. I did not use any vulgar language or gave any inaccurate information. Tactically, they sent me the email to which I cannot reply. I am going to call them up and ask which part of my review is against their guidelines. They simply don't want us to put negativity be reviews. If they moderating what reviews we are supposed to put, what's the point in having such an option? No wonder they only have positive reviews for this laptop on the Dell's website. My model: i7-9700k, RTX 2070, 16GB RAM If you are planning to do some serious work on your laptop. I would suggest stay away with this Area 51m. It is still in the first generation and I can see there are too many defects with this model. I am a doctoral candidate in mathematics education and bought this laptop a month ago thinking it will be perfect to render my video lectures, animation, and also might as well finish writing my thesis on it. I don't play a lot of games. The laptop was faulty from the day I received it. I had to reinstall Windows 10 to make it work. Now a week ago there are artifacts appearing on the laptop screen. I thought it is a driver's issue and updated it. It didn't help. I cannot even get into the windows desktop as all I can see a black screen and weird artifacts after login. I bought premium support from Alienware and contacted them via email. I told them how important this laptop for my academics but they didn't reply promptly. Their responses are days apart. They gave a set of tests to run to make sure it's not a big issue. They are just waiting time as after all those tests, it is apparent that I had a faulty GPU. I gave up and called the customer care and told them the issue and updated with run tests. Then they created a job order where I had to send the laptop to their repair center. I paid for premium support so there is a In-home repair service but they did not listen to this at all. They said there is no other option but to send the laptop to their facility. They promised me that end to end service time will be less than 5 business days. After four days, I received an email saying that there are some failed parts in the laptop and they don't have those parts right now, those parts MAY arrive in five business days. They have no idea how it is affecting my academics. I relied on this thinking it is a powerful computer. They are ignoring customers suffering because they will have to answer for packing defective parts. I searched Reddit and other forums only to be surprised that I am not the only victim here. The bottom line is : buy this laptop at your own risk and don't rely on this for serious works. If you badly thinking to buy this laptop, I would wait for the next generation of this model so that they will have some time to understand customers sufferings and ensures not to pack defective parts. Another update: I received an email saying that they may get a hold of new parts in another 4 days and if the laptop still has an issue after replacement, they are going to extend the repair time to another 10 business days. I spent more than three thousand dollars on this laptop thinking it will help with my doctoral projects. I had to spend more time in the repairing than actually work on my academics. It has been 12 days and they still have no idea when the parts will be available. They just stopped replying my email. This is completely my personal thoughts coming from my experiences and readings on online forums about the product. www.reddit.com/r/Alienware/comments/cfrfr4/my_personal_thoughts_on_alienware_area_51m_want/

'Upgradeable graphics/laptops have not been done before' ? What do you call the socket CPU and MXM socket GPU models that existed prior to the 10 series? When there was a standard MXM 3.0b reference board provided by Nvidia there were LOADS people putting Clevo and MSI GPUs in Dells for generation after generation, hardly ever the other way around. Dell/Alienware didn't like that and took more and more steps to lock down their systems and they lost a huge chunk of the enthusiast market. Frank Azor is making the right noises after years of the wrong noises defending poor quality garbage (his justification for generation after generation of soldered junk AW 15s/AW 17s for years was "the market doesn't want sockets" "the market doesn't upgrade") but it will take time for that sordid history to be forgotten and more than the hype around a single model for the real high end enthusiasts to trust them again. Trusting them to make the next generation graphics able to be user-retrofitted (and purchased for a reasonable price unlike Eurocom, MXM GPUs are available direct from China for usually half of what they ask) is only part of it.

@@Rickbearcat that's why I went for the 2060
Rickbearcat Dude decktop rtx 2080 goes for $900-1000 chill out.
You should post a review. Surprisingly there no reviews on youtube with the 2060 model.
Would love to see you guys do a review on the Alienware Area 51m R2.
How is this holding up now?

Cpu and gpu thermals more in depth would be nice. That’s the main issue with putting a desktop grade cpu and gpu inside a laptop. Kinda disappointed you guys didn’t point this out. That’s the main concern for potential buyers. I have a Helios 500 with 8750h. Running pubg for 4-5 hours my cpu temp only gets to around 70-72C @3.9ghz and gpu temp never passes 60C. Can you guys include some type of real life gaming scenario to see the the actual temperature?
I wish there was a good review of the lower end one with the 2060
The only way it makes sense LONG TERM is if they also make the mobo a standardized form factor and also allow them to be upgraded.
Now if you can upgrade the Mobo like any other components and its not outrageous well that could be a good compromise.
my only problem is that the screen is not 4k. do you suggest this or the m17 ??
This would be the computer for me if I had that kinda money. Laptops are just so cool to me. Y'all definitely gotta revisit this laptop in like 3 to 5 years to see how the upgrading stuff turned out.
Turned out like garbage
Well I'm stucked watching things I couldn't afford
lmao me too
no need to buy this one a year or two theyll come up with another scheme to rip money off.
Any chance this laptop will ever get a 2080 TI upgrade kit? If it's a desktop replacement, then why not 2080 TI?
I saw somewhere that Dell was actually planning on allowing other companies to use their Alienware gpu standard to make it a universal standard unlike mxm.
Hows the cooling ? I read CPU can get hot... I mean like 99c type of hot
Why not compare it to the other laptops with the 9900k? The 2 from Clevo?
Just received mine yesterday and pics and video do not do this laptop justice. It is absolutely gorgeous and a dream to type on. Ordered mine through HIDevolution with a delidded 9700k, 2080. Haven't had time to benchmark yet but will soon and will come back and link to results and thermals.

I like it!
Now if I could just figure out a way to download one...
I have already figured it out and downloaded one. 🤣

I believe so. What I did notice, unless it has changed, is the Core i9 option got deep sixed. I don't know if that's related or a decision due to i9 supply. It could be they decided to save on CPU TDP for the GPU performance.

Are there any reviews/benchmarks of those Clevo/Evoc i9/2080 laptops? They are priced similarly with the 51m.

My model: i7-9700k, RTX 2070, 16GB RAM
If you are planning to do some serious work on your laptop.

The obvious question would be, why didn't you just get a refund? You can get one within 30 days.
I dream of buying this laptop
Best review so far. I have one on order 9700 i7 with a 2080. I also have a i7 1070 desktop and a 17' Alienware R3. I got the area 51m for the portability and raw power. It's basically a portable desktop computer. Great for traveling and vacations. For photo editing and gaming.
Thanks for pointing that out I had a friend who did the unlikely Find an upgrade for a single core laptop, it was a duo core which was huge at the time
They did bring up mxm, did you miss that part?
nice . i was also working on GPU's .. Build Dell PowerEdge R740 with 4 Cards ( 16GB Each ) .. AI & Deep Learning Solution .
It makes perfect financial sense to go with the 2060 over the 2080. You’ll save over a thousand dollars. When prices drop pick up a 2080.
About the CPU discussion, highly doubt you would have to change an i9 9900k before the laptops breaks down :P
That CPU will last for years, maybe even a decade tbh (in term of gaming performance).
Thought the ram was soldered to the board???
希望下一代area51m可以增大触控板的面积

You can put it on ur bed just put a book under it lol.
Still waiting on that acer triton 500 review
I hear you...working on it...
The Triton 500 is nothing like this Area 51, so there really isn't a comparison.
I want this and I don't even play games.
Where are the 7 participants?
How in the world did u get more than 5 hrs of batterylife?😵😵mine dodent even go through 2 hrs straight...😑
This is a video run down test. We run at: 250 to 260 nits, Airplane mode, ear buds. *and* we use movies and TV player. It's still the most efficient video player I've tested although VLC has gotten A LOT better. If you are running a game or CPU heavy task: don't expect jack from any gaming laptop. With a max battery size of 99 watt hours period (to make FAA requirements) it's not going to really ever get better.
I'm an idiot for not using the 17% off for everyone coupon, plus my 17% employee discount, to get one of these.
@@pcworld the public 17% off coupon expired, but I can use my employee coupon any time. 34% off would have been insane, though.
@@sabishiihito ):
sabishiihito Hey I want to buy the laptop, how do I get your Employe discount?
@@sabishiihito yea the 17% off saved me $500
sabishiihito how can you not buy it with 34% off ?? That is 1000 dollar off. Give me your employee is number please.
Ive got fate flashbacks from the title
I will order the 2060 one in week.
Great. Review. thank you
Very nice I'm looking at all these laptops that's more powerful than my current desktop for my next system since I am now on the east coast and close to friends and family I need a laptop like this one. 😁
What? A laptop with the better CPU and Graphics Card performs better? Oh the Shock!!!
Two power bricks make this thing un portable
