- In today's video, Anthony unboxes the NEW Rupes HLR15 iBrid Polisher. Featured at SEMA 2023, this new line of polishers has caught the eyes of detailers around the world. Now this big question, can they live up to the hype?
The HLR15 and HLR21 have cut the cord and have gone battery powered for this new generation of tool. The Rupes LHR15 MK3 was a massive success and is still considered to be one of the best polishers on the market. Anthony unboxes this new HLR series and relays his stream of thought. Keep in mind, he hasn't been hands on with the tools since SEMA!
The machine comes with 2 batteries, a charging base, PLENTY of pads, and the DA Fine and Course polishes. In the next video, we'll put the polisher to the test and break down the Pro's and Con's. Make sure to subscribe so you don't miss any of the upcoming Rupes content!

I was at an event today with the Rupes staff and they had the new polishers. Omfg theyre light, super low vibration, and really quiet. If you make money polishing, this is an easy buy. I own milwaukee and at half the cost they're good, but these new units are AMAZING.
I used both cordless, rupes and flex for two weeks. Went with Flex. Just a better feel and easier to use. Rupes is no doubt one of the best though.
I'm a bit confused with the Rupes pad line. With the addition of the new blue pad, that makes a total of 4 for their DA polisher line. If we had to categorize them from least to most aggressive, what would the order be?
Nice video! Can’t wait to try one!
Imagine this and the mirka 3 inch...the sound, the looks...ultimate setup!
That's my current setup :)) (waiting on my pre-order)
So lucky! enjoy them.@@DrCeramicDallas
The HLR75 is pretty damn quiet to be honest. Vibrates very little as well.
I am running that specific setup, hlr21 and mirka arop-b. So light, powerful and soooo smooth! Expensive setup but worth every penny :)
I have the HLR15 and the Mirka 3". Both are fantastic machine's. I have had the Mirka for quite a while and it is so good I use it even when I could/should go to a 5" or 6" machine. The Mirka is quiet and powerful. Both are amazing but grossly expensive; but if the bucks are there do it. Being able to converse while using either machine is neat. The lack of vibration and quietness on both machines is amazing.
So can and should you change the grease on the new polisher?
Wish I can get one hopefully one day lol
Is it still light with the battery in it?
I'll be getting mine tomorrow!! thanks for shipping fast guys
No problem enjoy!
These are available to ship now? 🤯
@@jjohn999 wrapping my hands around it right now 😁 got it yesterday, order it from the rag company
Man o man I just might have to get one
Hope the battery works better than the mini version. I’ve had my new one for about a month or two and one battery already won’t work. The battery run time is grossly exaggerated.
Congrats I'm waiting for mines to ship 😊
Will they be selling the 6inch backing plate separately? I saw that they were interchangeable between the 21 and 15 but I don’t want to have to buy an entire 21 to get the 6inch plate.
The RPM's on the 15 and 21 are different with the 21 being slower. While the 6" pad may fit I wonder if you could spin it too fast with the 15?
They are not interchangable. Both vibrates more if you switch the bp.
Dang this thing is cool!
There is a new lhr mk5 !!
Cordless mania!I will stick to corded version, thank you
The SEMA version of the tool included a corded adapter add-on that essentially made this tool the best of both worlds. We're curious to see if that becomes available at some point.
@@theragcompany Fair enough
At 73 years old I have a shop full of corded tools. Over the past ten years I have gone to cordless (some Dewalt 20 volt and some Milwaukee 18 volt depending on which was better for the task) and have over 30 cordless tools. My corded is all high end but I rarely ever use them as the cordless is now so good. The Dewalt 60 volt "sidewinder" saw outperforms the classic corded Skill 77. Cordless is the wave of the future.
Does the dual charger charge two batteries at once? Some reports say it only does one at a time.
not at the same time, because it"s a smart charger, it charge the batterie that is the closest to 100% so that you can get it quicker
@@jasonamic That is whaat mine does. And it makes sense; why put a smaller charge on two battieries instead of making the one with the larger charge availabe sooner. As soon as the first battery is fully charged it starts charging the second battery. Very intelligent.
I just wish Rupes would put keyhole slots on the back of their chargers so that those of us who are horizontal-surface challenged can mount them up on the wall and out of the way. If someone made a wall mount bracket for all of the Rupes chargers they would probably make a killing.
I preordered from OG awhile back so I got my 10% Hex Plus discount, but now I'm having FOMO because I could've had it in my hands sooner if I had just waited for you guys to get them on hand while everyone else is filling their pre-orders.
I don't think some of the batteries would stay in place though because of how they push in from the top.
I just used screws through the rubber feet into the wall then pop the charger on over top of the feet
Is there key holes on the charger to hang on the wall?
No unfortunately there are no key holes for hanging
@@theragcompany wonder if there's any way you could mount it?
What is the weight WITH the battery? No one seems to be able to tell me!
Great question! The polisher with a foam pad and battery attached weighs in at 5.6 lbs.
When do they start arriving in Australia is what I want to know?
Looks sick😮
Sounds slightly louder than the Mirka 3".
We would say so
Can anyone confirm if this machine is compatible with Bosch batteries? They look the same as the Rupes batteries.
It's only compatible with Rupes designed batteries as far as we know!
Worth a try. I've discovered that Rupes Nano batteries are compatible with the Mirka 3 inch polisher. Tested.
@@DrCeramicDallasrupes nano batteries suckd ass though. No ppwer output at all.
❤
considering that it includes like $175 worth of free stuff in it, the price isn't too bad
Free? You’re paying 800$ lol
@@mclovin9368 do you understand basic math moron
$800? What a bargain.. the price here in Australia is close to $1800..
$800 for polisher @@mclovin9368
@@mclovin9368 735 for the 15 in the US. Rupes pads and their two DA compounds are what is use so I am happy to get them. And I have been waiting for the new lighter blue pads; the older blue pads are a bit stiff to my liking.
Are you going to do an active 2.3 review soon?
🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
Please be in my mystery kit - Please be in my mystery kit 😉
It’s a cool device however the real game changer isn’t a DA it’s the compact rotary’s that are cordless. This here is a really expensive beginner’s tool.
It is, indeed, a game changer in the polishing and paint correction world.
It's not going to polish better, but for someone who use a polisher for few hours a day, it is a game changer. I have one and for me, it's a pleasure to use. @@timkinley1779
Think of how many more they would sell if they joined with say, Milwaukee, for batteries and then sold the tool alone.
It'll never happen. They've already gone with proprietary batteries for the 3inch and nano. So I can't see them changing to accommodate other brands batteries. The most you can hope for is a Rupes to M18 adaptor.
@@timkinley1779 I'm sure they don't, but the housing is proprietary to only fit their tools and maybe a few others small brands' tools.
@@KiranPatel-fk1pg An adapter and different battery will change the balance point, may have less clearance to the paint, and could increase the vibration if the tolerances are not tight enough. The Rupes batteries fit extremely tight in comparison to Milwaukee batteries (in their own tools).
@@jeffc6832 For sure it won't feel same or be as balanced with a different battery slapped on the side. I do think Milwaukee should have at least made 1 battery style for the 3 inch and 5 inch. 3 batteries is a little ridiculous for polishers alone.
I thought it came with a power cord???
Its actually the same as the Milwaukee!!!! Look at it closer
You need any testers? 😂
Color me impressed. I just need a few more clients to justify the expense. ❤
this machine looked and felt really nice when I saw it at SEMA and seems like it will perform great. This part of my comment is more for the content creator, I dont see how it changes everything tho, I also get super confused with car detailing pros wanting/talking more power when they already recommend using the current machines on the market at half the power/speed and stalling current machines is very hard if you know what you are doing. That being said the $735 promotional price seems ok for everything included, if they take the pads and products away then $735 is quite a lot of money for this. Additional chargers and battery prices will ultimately determine if this is a good investment for shops that use multiple polishers at once. This seems like a product that the single detailer will benefit from, but shops with multiple employees on "regular"working hours... not so much. In order for something to " change everything " has to be a lot more than just slightly better than its competition, lets say for example this kit at $399. Thats more of an impact on the industry, this level of performance for that price changes things, 1.5 - 2hrs run time on a single battery or give results that no other machine can produce. All that said.....Rupes created a great machine that seems to be more evolutionary than revolutionary.
If one of these falls in my mystery box I’d be ok with it.
Doesn’t seem to rotate the pad well…
SPTA or MaxxShine will knock it off......make sure you buy the Rupes though and show them support for a well made product.

It sure is sexy....and YES that sexiness does come with a heavy price tag!
nah definately not 800$ other high quality polishers are out there with 10 year warranties for half the price. the units aren't even what matters. I'd rather have rupes pads and polishes them their polisher as that is what does the job more than the polisher does. is it nice to be quiet and smooth yes. but I'd rather have a basic page with the best pad and polish than the best polisher with not good pads and polish. I can afford it but would rather spend $ on other quality products . I'm done with my Milwaukee cordless polisher for 300$
These are a very impressive evolution of their tools but their not going to change everything. Their still single orbit and single mode only. To me thats old tech. universal polishers and superior dual mode geared and random orbit variable orbit polishers are the future if anyone would ever bother to make them.
Nylon gears are great for vibration and comfort, but as anyone that’s in the heavy use tool and RC car industries, steel gears are a must.
So much money for such a poorly engineered product.
Does the end user still need to space the backing plate to prevent plate friction destroying pads with heat?
Time will tell, but these are not just nylon.
That thing is sexy as hell
Same company that makes SPTA polisher probably make Rupes.
They don't.
If you want to come to RUPES in Italy for a visit to our manufacturing plant, you are welcome! 100% made in Italy!
😂😂😂😂
Over priced. I'll stay with flex
It kills the flex . By 10x I’ve used it all day and it is dialed. And actually cuts and the flex won’t. . Had it and sold the turd
Rupes is like the hot chick everyone wants…the hype is real! 🥴. For the price it better be the best thing since sliced bread. 😄🤷🏽♂️
well they invented the DA sander/ polisher so 🤷♂️
too expensive for the lack of power vs the price ... crazy
