Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is standing out for both hardcore veterans who love the series and complete newcomers who have no idea what they're getting into. The former can anticipate a renewed experience with several gameplay additions and a new narrative.
At the same time, the latter can look forward to what is essentially two games in one with updated systems. Even as a casual fan, I was already far more invested in what I played of Vengeance than the original for narrative and gameplay reasons. Prospective players should get prepared for this incoming 160-hour adventure.

I ended up emulating it because the constant frame rate drops and pop in because Switch being so weak just ruined the experience
Different game im about to mention, but I really hope Bayonetta 2 and 3 releases on PS4 or PS5. Since the first game is already remastered on PS4. I'm just not interested in my Switch anymore until the Switch 2 drops

100% original. Ready to see the true ending. Also just wanna say as a producer this is one of the best soundtracks I’ve heard in years. They went above and beyond in 5. So many tracks I wish I I had made!

I played the original and absolutely loved it. The only issue was the lackluster story - otherwise the game has incredible atmosphere and combat.
Definitely will get the new one - I was about to do a new play through, anyway.
The ending was really good and the soundtrack was even more incredible, but the story was really weak for a shin megami tensei game

I'm so happy that it's getting an enhanced release. I really like the gameplay in SMT: V, but I definitely got reminded that it was a switch game a lot.
I know some people aren't big fans of buying the same game twice, but I'm more than happy to buy an enhanced version of one of my favorite games.

I stopped playing this game the first time around because I felt like there was hardly any story. I was several hours in, but struggled to keep going bc it felt like it lacked direction. Does the narrative pick up or is the whole game the same pacing?

Happy to see this coming to other platforms. I loved 5, but honestly the first thing I did after buying it was dumb it to my pc and play it on yuzu. Gladly supported the company though by legally purchasing it.
It was rough seeing it on switch, especially once I got it on pc with HD and 60fps.

This trend started almost a decade ago with the release of games and anime like Street Fighter 5 and Keijo in 2016 and Nier Automata and Fate Apocrypha in 2017. Personally, I'm pleasantly OK with these developments
On the one hand, it's eyeroll-worthy, especially when Nuwa is already immersion-preserving fanservice perfection. On the other, games need to make money to get sequels, and if offering the waifu bros cake keeps the series going, so be it.

I’m SO excited. I love Atlus for so often responding to fans feedback to give us a games full potential with years of extra development to perfect and enhance it. I know it also can seem greedy and probably is in many ways, but I am so glad we will have what seems to be like perfect evolution of SMT V rather than the next SMT which would be flawed in its own ways needing its own feedback
…I dunno man. I’d rather they release a finished game the first time, not pay full price for a beta and then have to double dip. I’m not a fan of Atlus’ re releases strategy to begin with, but it feels especially gross with SMTV because that thing was somehow rushed out undercooked despite the long development.

Who are y'all going to bring forward in the compendium. I'm replaying the smtv to remember which skills worked how well. I'm thinking of making an Artemis, idun, and Cleopatra with the idea that end stage demons will basically be fine.

The pre-boss theme at around 5:06 sounds better than the OG version? Could be just me, but those electric guitars sound so much crisper and clearer this time around. Hope the original music's been updated all around.

I love this game, especially how leveling up is modernized to an extent. I don't like having limited skills slots. I just want to know if this extended story is on a new file or a clear file (New Game) as I already beat the game 3 times actually. Is my stats going to cross over seeing as like me most people beat the game? If its a new game there has to be a better leveling up system for persons who already beat the game because I Hate Grinding that takes up too much time in gameplay where a player should be exploring more. Revamp systems does not sounds good as I was okay with it before.
If on switch you carry over three demons and a special items for each emding. The level scaling is fixed. Its not like that anymore

Same here. I'm sure it'll look and run much better and it's a good game but my backlog is out of control. Hard to justify replaying games in this era for me.

@@phillemon7664 More importantly, how it ran. The game had tons of slowdowns and later areas of the game, like that city with fire around ran at sub 20fps, it was awful. It also made the Switch heat up like crazy, I ended up putting a fan next to mine when playing out of fear it would break. Game genuinely needed to be released on other systems.
@@taigaaisaka6305 That's quite the over exaggeration since there's plenty of people whom played SMT5 on the Switch & never had those issues. Maybe you didn't take care of your Switch or you had too much on it that caused the overheating to happen; it happens with several pieces of tech, after all.

Shin Megami Tensei V is my favourite SMT game and better than any Persona game. It's so amazing and will be even better on the PS5, I can't wait to play it.

I am never buying an Atlus game at release, unless I know for certain it's the definitive edition.
P5R is a significant improvement over P5. This one looks like a significant improvement over SMT V as well. Noone, except teenagers and students, has a lot of free time to invest in very long games(100+ hours) twice. And I'd rather experience the best edition and be done with it.

I agree. Really got turned off after the P5/P5R thing. Really wanna get P3R but I’m certain they’ll come out with some Persona 3 Re-Reloaded or some crap. Rather get a full experience first time around than having to buy the game twice. Then this game has day 1 DLC… I’ll wait for a sale where I can get everything for $40 or less. And $40 is me being generous because I know Atlus puts out great product (at least the second or + time around, lol) and I like to support. But with my backlog; I do think I could wait for a fully complete edition to drop to $20. Just saying.

@@syn3232The only 2 things that og P5 genuinely pissed me off, even at release, was the "go to bed" pacing and the lack of an auto-advance dialogue button. That being said, extremely glad Royal came out to genuinely make a good game into one of the greatest JRPGs ever
The P3 DLC thing is unfortunate though ngl. But in general, Im fine with them making better versions of existing games (in more than just graphics) as long as they aren't artificially holding back the 1st release. For the most part they havent done that, so Im cool with playing something like Metaphor at release
No more Nintendo exclusives though. SMTV feels like a game that came out 10 years before Persona 5 because of it, just turned me off too much
Magatsu Rails as a method for speeding up travel is definitely inspired by Sonic Frontiers and I'm happy to see it work so well!!!

So i guess i shouldnt olay my og smt 5 since i havent started and just wait for the new one.
I skipped the main game and now I don't know if I should play the original campaign and THEN Vengeance. Stuff like new game plus, demons already unlucked and more importantly, avoiding burnout are my main concerns. I wouldn't want to reach the best part of the game (the vengeance route) when I'm already fed up of the experience.
If you played the original story then I would skip it. Because it 80 hours. You'll get burn out for playing it. I going to play vengeance.

Yes. The original story which is 80 hours it long. The new vengeance story which is also 80 hours confirmed from devs.
Iaa would have loved at least one alternate outfit like other atlus games.

They said they're "adjusting it to fit a wide variety of playstyles" so it'll prolly still be there but not so drastic that bosses are almost impossible if you are 10 levels lower

now she has Zio that's good
Nope she is same like in SMT V. She always begin fight with Mazio, but after that she barely uses Mazio and spam Zanma.

@@Phantom_Gabriel she use Mazio in first turn ALWAYS, sometimes in middle of battle, but she barely use that skill. She probably use Mazio more often, when player dont exploit her weakness, like Medusa in SMT IV.

Honestly the framerates were fine i thought the game looked great, the open area and dull narrative were the major problem for me, imma wait a week after the release and see the reception because I was really disappointed in SMT V

You’re being intentionally obtuse. He’s saying that the described enhancements weren’t just promising on paper but also translated to meaningful improvements during gameplay that felt impactful.
I'll get it, though I hope the inclusion of new characters doesn't ruin the story like it did with the Strange journey remake. Already seeing more of the new character in battles.. I'm oddly not in support of that. Also after beating this on switch twice I look forward to getting it on PC and seeing the difference in graphics and framerate, although I will also be one of those people that doesn't see a huge different in graphics so far. I also hope I don't have to sit through visual novel level story line sequences....

@@user-fu3cu8ti8q I don't really know, maybe it has something to do with the mc (john doe) character having less of the story centered around them( and thus the player), maybe I'm burnt from waifu's, maybe it's a bias I got from Strange journeys' remake. Since she's required for the new path, I"ll find out if it's an enjoyable inclusion.
They actually confirmed that Yoko was intended to be in the original SMT V but didn't make it in for whatever reason
Yoko was intended in the original narrative. Vengeance is pretty much a Director's Cut version of SMT V + New story.
