I think you got the Snake and Bull gods reversed. The new Nahobino has snake fangs, there's a snake slithering through the Vengeance logo in all the trailers, etc.

Nahobino/Aogami is Susano-o , he's a "Bull God". Thats why they said the Canon of Creation has the pov of a Bull God. Thats even reference in how the protaginist can share his knoweldge with Gods like Zeus and Baal, which are also "Bull Gods" or "Horned God". Then you have Nahobino abidiel and even Panasia Tao having Horns and other Bull related aspects to them.
Whil the snake gods , you fight a lot of snake like demons. Hydra, Nahobino Nuwa, Nuwa , Lahmu , etc
Nahobino isn't supposed to be or have any element from Snake Gods because he's reincarnation of Susano-no , even has reference to his sword , in the attack Murakumo (ame-no-murakumo-no-tsurugi).
I don't blame you from forgetting the fact that Aogami is supposed to be the ProtoFiend for Susano-o because its not explored AT ALL in SMTV and its of my biggest issue with the original release.

It’s funny because Aogami/Nahobino lore was explained a *bit* further in the Japanese version of the game. But for some reason they took it out for the English version

@@bluemori2822 i believe the only confirmation we get about Aogami/Nahobino being susano-o is from the quest in which we help the little tengu fairy (Amanozako) gain her memories when she loses control. And when you realize the name of Yuzuru's patron which is the brother of susano-o (Tsukuyomi).

6:00 funny thing about Manananngal is that she is designed accurately. Like she is supposed to be like this. like really good on Doi for doing his research on her and like several mythologies about just Aswang (Filipino Ghoul/Vampire) in general is cool. Props for the team as well. I like how well received she is and I hope more Filipino mythological figures and folkloric monsters get introduced into MegaTen more and more.
Ng+ content I think should be the norm going forward. Endgame builds are when these game get really fun from the wide amounts of options so making an entire endgame difficulty being basically max level is great

this was my most hated gameplay ''feature'' so I'm extremely happy that Vengeance is going back to the old system where actual strategy is needed. Vanilla V defenders said this way low level run was harder and I disagree because it was an artificial way of doing every battle more harder, or I should say tedious because doing 10-100 damage per hit to defeat a 10k hp boss is not very fun tbh...
Yep. This is a very welcome change. It never made much sense to me why they did this; this choice was easily my biggest gripe with the original
They said in the trailer that there's still level scaling, it's just gonna be less egregious. I remember that one tree that was just level 99 versions of beginning demons and how little damage I deal versus how much damage they deal with basic spells when my party was around level 60. It was fairly annoying. Not hard, just annoying.
It's crazy. I think I'm more excited about Vengeance than when I was for SMT V 3 years ago.

Always felt like SMT V was missing a lot -specifically in-between each chapter when you return to the real world and it felt like there was a chapter missing between the 2nd and 3rd(demon-angel war) area

17:40 I guess if you could view save anywhere as a way to kind bring that sleep functionality over now that it's multiplatform. In your example of a power surge, the switch wouldn't have any issue, but other platforms may have someone lose a bunch of progress.

Allowing save scumming between every battle takes away any challenge of having to survive between two set points.

Honestly as much I also don’t like Atlus’s Day 1 DLC practices I would say this game’s is quite possibly the LEAST egregious version of it (recently at least), so idk I don’t think it’s wrong to consider it a “con” on the pro con list but I still think it’s an improvement even if it’s small and arguably “not good enough”

Hey, fun fact: It's theorized that the letter "V" comes from the shape of a bull's horns (or cow's horns). I'm not sure if it's related, but its funny to consider that they might've called it "Canon of Vengeance" because they wanted the "V" to represent the bull god path.
The V in SMT V (2021) could be for the horns of the bull god and the double V (VV) in SMT VV (2024) could be for the fangs of the snake god.
This is going to be the one.
The innate skills remind me a lot of support skills from digimon cyber sleuth, and I'd it's anything like that game we're gonna be able to make some nutty team comps

i'd say it's a perfect point. smt 5 was my first mainline as well, and after that i went to 3, 4 and 4a. 5 has nice touches like hp bar, full reverse compendium fusion and visible demons in the wilds to mention a few. go for it
It's a great jumping in point! Hasn't released yet but I can confidently say its going to replace and make base SMTV moot. After that, play Nocturne, 4, 4 apocalypse, and Stranger Journey.
Never played an smt game. Playing p4 my first persona. This was next on the atlus list for me so I’m stoked I can play it on ps5

I absolutely love this soundtrack to this game
For me, the level scaling thing is an absolutely massive win, the most hype change of the bunch, but mostly in the other direction. Because similarly to how being underlevelled could shut you down regardless of your strategy or even your stats (looking at you, Zeus), being overlevelled could completely negate the challenge. This was particularly apparent in the True ending, since Shiva is lvl 97 and Lucifer is lvl 90 even with his new phase. Dealing with the level scaling can actually make Taito's open structure work and make late-game bosses challenging even on NG+.
The african demons are not at all the first. For one, you have egyptian reps. Two, african demons have been in games like SMT 2 and Devil summoner, but it was a drop in the bucket compared to other lore, and most have never made an appearance outside of those games.
I have never really played this series, other than a bit of SMT 3. But my gods I'm going to! These animations, the art design, UI, theme. I love what I'm seeing. It seems like Atlus are just on fire.
This unique skill and team building reminds me of Dx2. Especially what they showed up in the video where nahobino fire damage grew exponentially with skills centered for a fire based team. I feel like this game is gonna be one of my favorites and that's ironic because the vanilla version is one of my most hated experiences but Vengeance is fixing so many things that I had an issue with. Been a while since I was this excited for a game!!

Never played a shin Megami game before. I’m coming from the persona games any advice or tips and are the gameplay systems the same as persona ?
It’s similar persona is like easy mode of it though all the spells and affinity’s will be the same but the turn system can be a little bit more punishing
also just letting you know there is no all out attack unlike in persona 5 lol.
I just bought my first SMT V Vengeance game. I’m really enjoying it so far.
i LOVE the party building system for demons and creating a theme of them! lets be honest....at the near end of the game we all haD same demons.
Sorry I am kinda late getting here but i wanted somebody's take on this. I played 5 and got one of the alignment endings but never did the other two and then the true neutral ending. So when vengeance comes out should i play cannon creation and get the other endings first and then do vengeance? Anyone that sees this please answer because currently i have no idea.

when you start to play vengance that it let's you bring over 3 deamon in your party from the complete save you did of og version.
I love the original SMTV, and the new one even looks better. SMT series need some more exposure. Such a great franchise.
To add to your argument, there was a teleport option that took you to the Leyline fount lol so saving has always been easy
Also, it means they can't make the Shakan dungeon punishing and risky because you can just save whenever you want. I feel this is a horrible change, and I won't be using it. Part of SMT is planning and managing your resources, save anywhere negates this so much. My Dad introduced me to Nocturne as a kid in 2008, and I lost so much progress at times exploring the LoA, but that is part of the experience. Learning from those mistakes and preparing better for the future. Save anywhere completely removes this and ruins the flow of dungeons. In IV it wasn't to big of a deal because Dungeons weren't common, but in V Vengance this will be stupid

Personally, save anywhere is one of the biggest upsides for me.
While I never played the original for more than 2 hours, I am incredibly unlucky when it comes to games crashing whenever they want. Beating a boss, or exploring an area just for the game to hang up on something is pretty much a guarantee for any game I play, so saving almost constantly is something I do all the time.

I am confused, is it getting a new story?? I really never played SMT cause I am a story focused player so always just did the persona games. I have not tried a SMT in a while does this one have a good story.
Yes new story, nobody knows if story is good nobody has played it yet lol. Either way, SMT has always been gameplay first, and mostly being story with heavy ideology and philosophy, atmospheric story telling, which I find people that like traditional storytelling like most jrpgs to not enjoy.

where it's a remake of the original game with improvements but it includes a separate mode that is it's own story
it’s not really comparable to any previous atlus release. It’s an entirely new route on top on the already existing one in the base game

The main problem with the save function was not that it was too difficult to get to the next leyline. It was the fact that you couldn't just stop playing where ever you liked. If I gotta stop the game and go do something then I have to get to the next leyline or go back to the previous one.

I always imagined that near the end of smt 1 law chaos heroes and mc all meet at the bar somewhere and have a chat with each other where chaos hero regrets his decision and law hero reflects on his situation and mc telling them that there are still friends .I'm hoping something like that kinda happens in vengeance .

As a borderline prude, I actually think the female demons designs are really good. I’ve definitely seen more distracting ones in T games. Didn’t know they were prostitutes but it makes the designs better.

This feels like an Apocalypse version of SMTV. I hope the new path gets the plot on the same standard as previous entries... because we all know the Creation path is a plot mess. And about Apocalypse vibes, Massacre Ending Nanashi would certainly fit with the lore of both V and VV as a superboss.
On the other hand, SMT had sexual looking and african demons before, both in main and spin off games.

This is not the first time demons comps were added to an SMT game. Dx2 has had this feature for years.
Issue with the save anywhere take is that i wont be playing this game on switch, i havent touched my switch in over 6 months lmfao
The save anywhere makes sense since the game isn't switch exclusive anymore.
Playing it on steam in particular I will be very grateful to have save anywhere allowed so I can quickly close the game and do something else. It was fine to put the switch in sleep mode but PC and even other consoles to some extent aren't necessarily as lenient with this.

As I’ve never played any SMT game but it’s been on my radar I figured why not do the same thing I did with persona play in reverse order 5 through 1 and I’m glad I’m getting SMT:Vengeance out of them all and never bothered with the original SMT:V

@@dutchielander2478 oh I know about SMT4 and 4:A with most of the wild choices made with demon designs, and obviously SMT3 being the most difficult not much on SMT2 & SMT1 or the absolute original megami tensai. But I also know about devil summoner, DDS and strange journey also the technical start of persona SMT:IF so I’ve never played but did my research, which is something I do in my spare time to pass the time just whenever I’m bored. And as a fan of most mythology’s that megaten uses (I.E. Greek, Norse, Egyptian, Aztec, Japanese, Chinese and Christian/Abrahamic)
I also have a problem with the Switch version's "bonus" for having a base game save. They should've just made a version of Vengeance that acts as an expansion to the base game, like how Monster Hunter did with World: Iceborne and Rise: Sunbreak. I get they want you to experience the new story from level 1 and using the NG+ bonuses can break that, but they could just not allow NG+ into the other story. And only being able to bring 3 demons over just feels like a slap to the face of people who completed the compendium. If I can only bring over 3 demons, I may as well just bring the best.

I love V, a top game of mine, so I am very hyped for vengeance. Im glad I made the decision after the 2nd trailer not to watch anymore trailers. I think them revealing the new nahobino form was already too much of a spoiler, god knows what else theyre spoiling in these newer trailers.

Yes. I think its safe to say that most Megaten related titles are better then SH2 lol.
I agree with you on save anywhere. It is unnecessary, simply because you can already save whenever you want in SMT V by just teleporting back to the leyline fount. Save anywhere is just gonna enable you to save after every battle if you want to and remove the adrenaline rush you get in most megaten games when you've fought multiple enemies before hitting a save point. Basically it'll make the game easier, but not in a fun way.
That's what I keep saying, yet most people keep acting as if it's a 100% improvement with no negative repercussions what-so-ever. It's crazy how people can't get the point of why it was the way it was to begin with.
It's just a cope, thinking every new change is for the better, I think. This happens every time devs change something in a re-release.

Like would you use a worse skill to handicap yourself just because there's another skill that is overpowered? I wouldn't. I like to use every tool at my disposal to win the game; that's kind of the entire point of playing the game. This kind of argument you're making makes little sense when you're actually playing the game and only really makes sense as a post hoc rationalization for why games should always be made easier and more accessible to more players (because advanced players can always just avoid using the features). It will only impact my enjoyment to consciously avoid using certain features of the game that I have deemed make the game too easy. If you also agreed with me about this feature you would see how what you're saying doesn't make sense. The only reason people make these kinds of arguments is because they themselves don't care. Games get balanced around their features so you're not meant to play them and consciously avoid the very features the game is balanced around. For all we know leyline founts could be more sparse this time around considering you don't need them to save your game. So I'm not gonna handicap myself just because I disagree with a new feature being added. I hope this helps you understand how saying "just don't use it" makes no sense.
I know right all the complete compendium, completed side quest, and all the 4 endings all will be resetted. And you have to redo everything again

I think they're great designs. There's always been a theme of evil disguised as beauty, so I think they're a perfect examples of that. And it's not because I'm a guy and am thinking "OMG boobs!" I'm gay, so that doesn't work on me. I don't get the whole backlash against good looking women in video games either. It's not applied to men. I had a game where the reviews predictably criticized the objectification of female characters, but no mention of the shirtless men wearing tight leather pants. Why is one not worth mentioning, but the other has people all flustered? I should also point out that despite being gay, I can play a game with a hot guy in it without being all, "I'm too distracted to play this because he's just too sexy!"
It also ties together with their theme; like them being sexy is kind of the point.

Quaditsu are a group of prostitute angels who follow Sameal. Most of their mythos involves them being seductresses in some form. like the blond one being essentially able to seduce any man, god, or demon also known as the mother of Nephilim, or the witch looking one creates succubi as well as witches and seduces both men and women, etc.
So sexy is kinda a theme for the Quaditsu.

I preordered SMT V and really enjoyed it. Was I a little let down by the endings? Definitely. But the gameplay was great, and I had an amazing time customizing my demons and using the ones I like.
I've also preordered SMT V:V. I'm not opposed to buying re-releases. In some cases, my dumb ass has bought essentially the same game 4 times. I will happily buy games that I enjoyed again. I know Atlus is getting pretty heavy handed with them, but they are still a company I have supported for years.
I was so happy when SMT V sold 1 million copies, because it felt like one of my favorite series was getting worldwide recognition. Atlus isn't a small little company anymore, but I still want to show my support anyways. And I am so excited for Vengeance, I can't wait for the game to come out

holy shit. i dont know if its intentional, but i saw a comment saying that the V is kinda like the bull god's horns. I dont know if its intentional, but the C in the canon of Creation *could* hint to the Snake God. So it lines up, The Canon of Vengeance, the bull god's path, and The Canon of Creation, the snake god's path. Although I don't know if it means that the final boss in the Canon of Vengeance will be something like the Mitra-Buddha. I'm praying that the final boss is not someone like Maitreya from apocalypse he sucked ass

hey Macca new sub here! im excited for smtVV, i bought the switch version and was honestly pretty disappointed with the first few hours and dropped it. recently ive been really wanting to play SMT after giving persona 3 reload a shot, and im so glad theyre dropping this game! i feel like this version will be a lot more interesting and new smt player friendly! def gonna play through smt 4 in the meantime though and wait for a price drop… atlus tends to do that (ps, rip your script that must really fkin suck)
i really need to wait for a sale too because i have so many other games to play waiting in my backlog but SMT is one or my favourite series so waiting is hard
@@alexterieur8813 waiting is hard, but games are pricey! if you can afford it, you should go for it! otherwise if you know you got stuff in your backlog, i think its smart to play those in the meantime! i saw persona 3 reload go almost half off in like 4 months from its drop!

I don’t think day 1 DLC is an Atlus thing, I’m 99% sure it’s a Sega issue because of how they did Like a dragon infinite Wealth new game + being locked behind a DLC and as well as a endgame Dungeon

Even SH2 where that dlc was hot ass wasn't too expensive. And you kinda contradict yourself when you said you want "X demon in Y modern atlus game", that's why the demon dlcs are so popular
The demons could just be in the game for free though. It doesn't matter if he wants these demons, that doesn't automatically make the dlc good.
What makes the dlc practices abhorrent is specifically that these demons are sold separately. Also they're reselling smt v with the dlc for the price of the game again + dlc
I like how you were, at least, honest in the fact you were a late adopter to playing SMTV. A lot of people, when vengeance got announced, went to glazing base SMTV like it wasn't getting fairly critiqued left and right when it originally came out. And now, with vengeance coming out, people suddenly LOOOOOVE SMTV...is this the "love hate" meme that atlus fans always mention

I guess Im in the minority as I wanted them to fix/finish SMT V base story if theyre going to make you fully repurchase this instead of Vengeance being just dlc. Like, it 100% feels like those who bought the original got shafted.
Look for everybody getting upset about it being the fixed versions I get it, but let’s just be happy we’re getting something good, let’s appreciate that
biggest woe is Atlus screwing over original versions of the game and more and more delisting the old
- the save system being changed gets in the way of the balance of the old
- casualization, more and more breaking the balance for power fantasy which is wide appeal design
- SMT V original is still important for what it has
- original dungeon puzzle only way to have it now is still non updated SMT V, no reason to change it

If I didn't I'd be inclined to play canon of creation when I eventually buy VV. Now i don't have to play it and my playtime of VV is half of what others will be. I've got too many games in my back log to drop 160 hours on VV
@@rajgus7638As someone who hasn't played SMTV yet, this is a really underrated aspect. As excited as I am for the Vengeance storyline, it would've helped to have already played the og. At least I can still play it if I want to down the line
@twincherries6698 For a new time player like yourself it is A LOT of content. You're definitely getting your moneys worth. I would jump straight into the Vengeance story and save Creation for another time. You can very easily burn yourself out with it
@@rajgus7638 Undoubtedly hahaha, there is so much in this for a newbie like me it's honestly mind boggling. I'm definitely looking forward to the Vengeance storyline as you're saying. The new story almost reminds me of something akin to Pokemon Platinum but probably at a larger scale, so I'm pretty excited to see what happens. I hear good enough things about the Creation story too so I doubt if/when I get to that it won't have its moments. All in all I'm really hoping this delivers cuz it's looking like one hell of a package!

i always expect an enhanced version, specially for mainline, and i like that they do them, is like hey we did this engine and we made a game, let's throw another 600 development hours.

And yet at the same time, it's improving upon virtually every aspect of the original game, you get all the previous DLC's free, there's an entire new storyline, there are new demons and new abilities, it's letting SMT V live up to the potential it truly has. Sure, having to pay twice sucks, but I think the positives outweigh the negatives in this case.
