you da man! thanks JR, I appreciate all the time you have spent trying to get us numb skulls up and tuning. Thank you.
Thanks for helping some of us figure out how to do this
I have put a 12 mm plenum spacer and manifold spacer drim mace engineering! My CAI is running too cold ? Ported and polished throttle body all made a big jumpy difference! This is what I needed! Thanks 👍
Excellent video as usual, JR. Thanks man!
Thanks again JR - very useful information!!
Exactly what I needed! Cheers from Australia subbed and liked ❤
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thanks man, this helps a lot!
Actually doing something opposite, I am looking at building my father/son project with a 5.9 Magnum . Ditch the Dodge ecm and use a more adaptable LS computer . Swap all of the sensors since I’m replacing all of them anyway.
Looking at PC Hammer and TunerPro with the Bluetooth dongle I guess. Good to see someone getting in depth . Thank you .
The 411 PCMs are very adaptable, as long as you can get a 4x or 24x crank signal into it, it can probably run your junk
I like that rolling stones intro.
Great video
Awesome video, thanks!
Glad it helped!
thank you for posting, lots of great info,
Glad it was helpful!
@@TheDrivewayEngineer not sure whats going on with the latest release of pcmhammer its not linking to the device,
Thanks sir UA-cam training course
Do u have a link for the 12216125 XDF you used in this video?
Awesome 😎
Thanks for the videos , just getting started - have read bin and found xdf file - but getting the OBD2 readers to hook up seems to be hit and miss - using obdx pro gt with the USB cable
So now just having a play around , it's a spare pcm so not to worried lol
What's involved in making it a mafless tune ? I've seen you can set the maf fail to zero but is that it ?
I do have a wideband so will use that for tuning afr cheers
Right on
Tuner pro question. How do you get the Acquisition menu on theer. I downloaded Tuner Pro but i am missing menu items. What am I doing wrong?
Whats the difference between the obdmx and obdlx? I know one's cheaper but does it make a difference?
Oh thanks! Now I have the rolling stones in my head! Classic song! Rill I understood the lyrics? Lol.
Hi, where can I download XDF files, I need the one for a 2014 KTM 690 SMC
So im getting into tuning and I just bought HPtuners and I'm thinking I should get obdlink also (gonna make a bench tuning station) im thinking to do simple things like vats deletes and idle etc obdlink and pcm hammer are good tools to have but anything more I should just use HPtuners?
It's by far easier
If I tune my 09 silverado flex fuel on e85 will I be able to use normal pump gas and then run e85 when I race?
Not without a flex sensor
How did your brothers truck run with the tune, I would like to use it on my stock 5.3
He's still driving it
Quick question.
I’m in the process of rebuilding a gem 3 5.3ls , I’m putting in all of the forged goods I can. I’m planning to swap the engine into my bmw e36 m3. Problem is, I’m not sure whether I should go for terminator x , or get a wiring specialities harness. I’m planning to put a turbo on it. Will I be able to tune it on TunerPro once I go turbo ?
You can use the stock harness. Tunerpro doesn't care if it's turbo'd or not.
The bin files that come from gearheadefi, are they all stock bins?
Yep
I know there is a way to use Tuner Pro on my Audi. It's an 01 A4, I can figure out how to get started! Like from nothing, I can't find enough info on it. How to I get all the tables?
The tables come from an XDF file, I have no idea if anyone has programmed XDFs for an Audi
1.8t? Nefmoto has xdf
I followed your direction and my truck would start then die immediately. And I got a strong odor of gas. Not sure if I missed something or what. But going to try again tomorrow !
Any advice on how to learn how to tune?
I'm going to assume you didn't get the VATs deleted properly.
do you have to use a bench or can I just use pcm hammer and plug it in and write my tune?
You can try, at the very least pull your radio fuse.
I'd recommend using a bench harness
Thanks for posting this. I can't seem to get tunnerpro to work. I get checksum error when saving bins. Tried 3 versions of tunnerpro. Same error re-saving virgin file no changes. Thanks
Everyone I know of who has these issues, it comes down to their PC.
I don't have any insight, unfortunately, it just works for me.
@@TheDrivewayEngineer thanks. Did you have to download extra plugin extensions?
Great video. Apparently I have a unsupported OS (OS ID: 12593058). I've searched high and low and can't find a compatible XDF file. Do you know where I can find a compatible XDF for my 2003 GMC Yukon XL 1500? Thanks
You're doing it backwards.
Find an OS compatible with a working XDF
@@TheDrivewayEngineer OK. Thank you for the feed back.
for the sloppy stage 2 tuning part do you use that part or all off the video
I don't know what you mean here?
im sorry do i need to do the whole tuning from the start or just the part for the cam swap?
Can use tuner pro to disable the vvt on a 2007 escalade?
Nope
Would you mind giving me a WAG on settings I should change in Tunerpro. For my cam SUM-8727R1. Thanks.
Engine is completely stock except cam
Can i use aldl cable for tunerpro on Hp tuners?
Those things do not go together
You can log with pcm logger now!
That's big news!
Maybe you can help me out. I'm trying to de-vat a PCM from an 06 silverado 4.3. how do I find an xdf fine for it?
You follow the instructions in the first video
@@TheDrivewayEngineer lol alright. Now let's see if I can figure out which that one is.
@@TheDrivewayEngineer is it in a playlist? I can't makes heads or tails looking at your stuff. I'm not seeing ANY of your tuning vids when I go to your channel.
Look in the LS Basics and LS Advanced playlists.
@@TheDrivewayEngineer I will watch that, but a gentleman in the pcmhacking forum helped me out since the V6s are supported yet. Not really sure why since it's the same PCM and engine has the same geometry minus 2 cylinders. I uploaded my bin file and he was able to find the VAT option for me and change it. Got it running today. In the future when the 4.3s have xdf's I'll brackets to go in and actually tune and such. But she runs so I'm happy for now.
If you turn off a DTC, does it still set the code but just not turn on the mil light?
You can set it to not report, or to not trigger
@@TheDrivewayEngineer I know I had seen that but thank you for pointing it out. I was getting tired of seeing the codes.
I can't find an XDF for my OS. I hear there's a way to change the PCMs OS but I dont know how? Does anybody know how?
Write a new one. The same way you'd write yours back if you could find an XDF
@@TheDrivewayEngineer Thank you JR. Forgive me for being dim here... Do I just change the number of the OS while I'm in tuner pro? Or am I completely missing something here? I do understand I will have to "flash it" once I upload the new OS, I'm just not sure how to upload or change the OS. Thank you
@@TheDrivewayEngineer I also want to thank you so much for your awesome videos and input, I just pulled a 275k mile LM7 from the treasure place that spins and wins. Gonna slap it in my 2nd gen camaro and send it. My coworkers think I'm crazy just like you're always saying haha
Start here
ua-cam.com/video/PyFtSta_IB0/v-deo.html
Find an XDF and OS that work with eachother and match your transmission and Engine setup. Then replace whatever OS your PCM has with this new OS by following the instructions in the video JR posted in these comments. Use the matching XDF to make any changes to the new OS file and flash/write it to the PCM as needed.
The only change you need to start a stock engine is to turn off the VATS.
Could u make a vid to bump up a stock 6.0
It's the same process no matter what
Thanks!
It really isnt very hard to create an xdf file
Cool
You can now data log P01 and P59 PCMs with TunerPro... ua-cam.com/video/7KkmNkwHDls/v-deo.html
Seems like there'd be simple cam tunes available.. repository is junk..gotta go to school, learn stoic parameter flow values/physics etc...holy moly
Why does it seem like someone should tune for you for free?
@@TheDrivewayEngineer Big money in teaching videos. Therefore nothing useful in repository or free. Basic camswap tunes are complicated and ought to be available for a reasonable fee. didn't plan on learning a new career to install a tune file
Basic tune files are available for a fee, 125-200 bucks and it'll be someone else's problem, you just hook the thing up and do burnouts
@@TheDrivewayEngineer$50 would be reasonable..
seems like big cams/burnouts are for macho punk idiots...look at me and my toy, wow, I'm so cool
@@user-be9ii9ut4t so you don't want to compensate people for their time and you don't want to learn anything, but you do want to insult people 🤣
You're gonna go far kid
OS 9379910
What will match up to this xdf file
hey JR , im trying to remove vats, enable electric fans and remove trouble codes with tuner pro, pcm hammer and OBD2 lx dongle
according to pcmhammer, my pcm is 12200411 for a 2002 avalanche mated to a th350 tranny with de-pinned harness, and only precat O2 sensors.
i know my XDF is 12212156 and i found both gearhead efi and boredtruck owners but waiting n waiting to be approved there, and boredtruck owners confused me. i couldnt figure out how to download their XDF, if i clicked on it it opened and looked like 150 pages of code but no download link.
Rick at LS1 says he will email it to me.
Someone also said i need the proper checksum files?
what do these do and how do i install them in tunerpro?
Once i get changes made to my bin, I need some tips how to actually write my new modified bin with pcm hammer
now lets see if i understand the steps.
1. i use pcmhammer to read entire pcm
2. save that pcm bin file as stock unmodified bin
-how do you save it as i only see option in pcmhammer to save results and debug log. is it one of those options ?
3. then i use tunerpro to open that saved bin, make changes i want and delete codes
4. then save as modified bin
5. then use pcmhammer to open modified bin, but which option writes it to my pcm?
under tools;
-write parameters
-write OS, calibration and boot
-write full flash/clone
under operations;
-write calibration
then let it do its thing and i should be done?
I'm going to dig through my pile of PCMs and find one to do this again from scratch
@@TheDrivewayEngineer ok im using a different XDF than you so things look different but i think i successfully made the changes i wanted with tunerpro to delete VATs[set to 2], enable fans[ just set proper come on and turn off temps] dont have your enable buttons, Dtc set to 3 and it apparently saved despite giving a warning error at time of saving, citing missing checksum files?
is this a major problem ?
I definitely dont wanna write my only pcm with a pending possible problem as its my only pcm
